Two Angels

Episode 1

"You only have 6 more years to live." was words I never thought I'd hear, but I did get to hear it.

I first thought when I heard the doctor was "This is it, only six more years. Can't I just kill myself right here and there? Six years is still so long, why didn't it become a year instead?"

I wanted my life to end early, but it all changed when I had to stay in the hospital. My bed was next to a bubbly and energetic guy especially for someone who also only has a few more years left.

We both talked, and eventually I got to know his name "Atlas". I also introduced myself.

"I'm Lorenzo, but you can call me Enzo." I muttered out these words quietly but loud enough for him to hear.

"So what are you here for? I have a flower heart disease." He said in the softest yet energetic way.

"I have the same as you." I said observing him.

"You do? How many years do you have left? I have 5 years." He said it no problem with his smile.

"I have 6 years left." I muttered out looking at how energized and happy he was for someone who was dying in a few years, he's definitely entertaining.

"You have a year more than I have, lucky." He said, acting like a sad puppy, cute.

"I wouldn't say I'm lucky." I muttered.

"You think so? Well we do have different opinions." He said, looking up at me like a little puppy with his round eyes. He was definitely my type.

"Well I feel like I'm bothering you now, so I'll see you later." He said in a friendly way, he walked out somewhere.

He was intriguing, smiling and being so friendly like he doesn't have 5 years left to live. He's definitely a free spirit. I can tolerate him I suppose especially if he looks just like my type.

I was walking through the garden, and there I saw him. Atlas, I can't deny it if you asked me if I really like his looks. I really do like pretty faces, who doesn't?

I sat beside him on the bench, "Do you like roses?" I asked seeing as how he gentle he was holding a rose.

"I do, I love them." He said, his eyes clearly told you how much he loved roses.

"What do you like about them?" I asked with some curiosity, I was curious on how he would respond.

"I love how each color represents something, I love how it has a protective cover of thorns, it's really just everything." He said with clear likeness towards the flowers.

"You like how beautiful it is?" I said.

"I do, it's very beautiful." He said looking at the rose while I agreed with him.

"It's really beautiful." I said looking at him, his lips were rosy as roses, his eyes looking so alive, the wind blowing his hair away.

He turned to me, "Are you the kind to look at someone while saying something like that? I might get the wrong idea, you know?"

"You see what you see, it's your decision to see however you want it to be." I said.

"But wouldn't it be better to know the truth?" He said twirling the rose he was holding.

"Again that's your perspective." I said smiling softly.

"You got me there." He said still thinking. "You're really how can I word this out? You really act like a very laid-back person, a very laid-back person." he said kinda fidgeting.

"Well I'm experiencing the 'bored of life' thing where I'm sick of everything and just kinda here, I suppose." I said.

"Like you're bored with your everyday life cycling and cycling, nothing crazy happening?" He asked.

"Yeah, I don't have any interests, hobbies or anything I like anymore." I said looking at the garden.

"Are you perhaps depressed?" He said in the softest way possible, possibly to make me open up more and be comforted.

"Possibly, I still haven't got diagnosed." I said looking at his eyes.

"You definitely are depressed." He said, also looking at my eyes.

"You know I haven't had a conversation that lasted this long especially since I just met you, you're a stranger but here we are revealing things about ourselves." I said looking at the sun slowly setting.

"It's sometimes better to talk to a stranger rather than a close friend, because you never know." He said putting the rose in my hand.

"No one ever knows." I said taking the rose. I smelled the rose.

"Exactly." He said, watching the sunset.

"Let's go back inside, it's getting dark." I said, standing up.

"Yeah it's getting dark." he said standing up and walking to the hospital. I followed him and then a question popped up in my head, so I asked.

"What stage are you in?"

"Stage 4, what about you?" He said.

"Stage 3, also you seem energetic for a stage 4." I said.

"I try to be energetic, to make my vibe more positive and friendly, but I really do feel tired." He said kind of looking down.

"You know, it's not bad to show people our true colors. You did say that sometimes it's better to talk to a stranger rather than a person you really know." I said comforting him a little.

"I did say that, even though I give pretty good advice I still don't follow them." He said laughing a little.

"That's relatable." I said chuckling.

"Yeah when you give good advice, but you don't even use your own advice." He said chuckling.

"Exactly." I said chuckling with him. He looked at the time.

"I have to take my medicine now." He said taking his medicine.

"You can't just take medicine without water, you psycho." I said as I got water from a vending machine and gave it to him.

"Thanks." He said smiling and laughing as he drank the water.

"Why are you even laughing?" I said looking at him.

"It's nothing really." He said still smiling.

"If you say so, you can always tell me if you're comfortable." I said watching him attentively.

"Thanks for your understanding." He said smiling at me. I smiled back to him.

"Let's go back to our room." I said already walking there.

"Okay." He said following behind me.

At their room.

"Let's go to sleep, it's nighttime now." I said getting myself ready for bed.

"Yeah that's a good idea." He said already in bed.

After a few minutes.

"Hey Enzo, are you still awake?" he asked.

"Yeah." I said turning to him.

"You also have sleeping problems? It's because of the stomach cancer." He said like he's going to fight stomach cancer.

"Yeah I do." I said being amused at him.

"How about we just talk all night?" He said, looking at me with those eyes, no one would dare resist those eyes.

"Sure." I said to him smiling genuinely.

And so we talked for hours on end, we got to know each other more and I also found out that he's an only child. I suppose that's why I also saw how approachable, and friendly he was why I kinda saw him as lonely. He always looks like he wants a friend, I'll be his friend however long he wants this friendship.

(The explanation of flower heart disease: it's a fictional heart disease, that means you are born with a literal heart of a flower meaning it's very fragile. You can get a heart transplant but since you know, hearts are a really important organ so few get treated. When you are diagnosed with this disease, they give you treatment to slow down the witting of the flowers.)
