Written In Ruins
CHAPTER - 1
The room felt heavy with silence as 'AARVIKA' stepped inside, her heart racing. She had known this day was coming, but still, it felt unreal. Her family’s decision, her fate—locked in a future she didn’t have a say in.
She glanced at the man standing by the window, his back turned. He hadn’t noticed her yet.
Aarvika maitra/FL
Toh, yeh sab kuchh kaise hoga?(with a deep breath, breaking the silence)
(TRANSLATION : so,how is all this going to happen?)
'VANSH YAJVAN' turned to face her, his expression unreadable, eyes cold and distant. He looked like a man who had been carrying a weight for too long.
Vansh yajvan/ML
Jise hum nahi rok sakte, wahi hota hai. (with a calm voice)
( TRANSLATION : What we can't stop, happens.)
Their families had arranged this union. And now, it was their turn to face the reality of it.
Aarvika maitra/FL
Main nahi jaanti... yeh sab aise kaise chalega.(staring at him, hesitant)
( TRANSLATION : I don't know... how all this will go.)
Vansh yajvan/ML
What difference does it make? Neither of us has a choice.(slightly smirking)
AARVIKA swallowed hard, her emotions swirling inside her. She wasn’t prepared for this. She had imagined her future differently. A future where she had the chance to choose who she would love. But instead, she was here, about to marry a man she barely knew.
The conversation shifted slowly, both of them circling around the truth they didn’t want to confront. But the tension was thick, and the words that had been left unspoken were starting to creep to the surface.
Aarvika maitra/FL
Kya tum kisi aur se pyaar karte ho?(gathering courage, her voice low)
( TRANSLATION : Do you love someone else?)
VANSH ’s expression softened for a fraction of a second, his eyes betraying the truth he had been hiding.
Vansh yajvan/ML
Haan. Main kisi aur se pyaar karta hoon. Lekin... ab yeh sab kuch badal chuka hai.(almost in a whisper)
( TRANSLATION : Yes. I love someone else. But... everything has changed now.)
Aarvika maitra/FL
Toh phir, mujhse shaadi kyun? Agar tum usse pyaar karte ho toh...(with a sense of quiet understanding)
( TRANSLATION : Then why marry me? If you love her, then...)
Vansh yajvan/ML
(cutting her off, voice tinged with regret)
Vansh yajvan/ML
This marriage isn’t about us. It’s about our families’ needs. This was written for us
AARVIKA felt a pang of hurt at his words. She had known it wouldn’t be a love story, but hearing it from him, seeing the resolve in his eyes—it was different. She wasn’t ready to accept it.
Aarvika maitra/FL
(softly, more to herself than to him)
Aarvika maitra/FL
Will we both be able to live our lives, knowing all this?
Vansh yajvan/ML
I don’t know. But we don’t have any other choice (after a long pause, his voice almost regretful)
As the conversation dragged on, AARVIKA couldn’t ignore the undeniable truth. He loved someone else. His heart was already taken. Yet, here he was, forced into this marriage by his family, just as she was. Neither of them had any control over their fate.
Aarvika maitra/FL
So, you want her in your life, but I have to stay with you... How will this work?(after a long silence, trying to hold back her emotions)
Vansh yajvan/ML
I don’t know, but you’ll have to understand me. I love her, and marrying you wasn’t my decision (sighing deeply, looking at her)
Aarvika maitra/FL
And me? Didn’t I have any say in this decision?(her voice breaking slightly, trying to stay strong)
Vansh yajvan/ML
Our stories are different. We are both living with our own pain (shaking his head, his voice filled with regret)
The room felt heavy with the weight of their conversation, but AARVIKA couldn’t give up. She needed to know if there was any chance for them.
Aarvika maitra/FL
(looking at him, voice firm)
Aarvika maitra/FL
If you give me a chance, can you accept me with all your heart?
Vansh yajvan/ML
I can’t accept you with all my heart. My love is for someone else. (softly, with deep regret in his eyes)
The truth hung in the air between them, too heavy to be ignored. They both knew this marriage wasn’t about love—it was about duty, about fulfilling the expectations of their families.

CHAPTER - 2
A quiet cafe in the city. Sunlight filtered through the glass windows, casting a soft golden hue over the wooden tables. It was their first official meeting—not as strangers anymore, but as two people soon to be bound by marriage.
AARVIKA sat at the corner table, her fingers nervously tracing the rim of the coffee cup. She looked up every few seconds, waiting for him. Waiting for the man she would have to call her husband soon.
He walked in, sharp in a black shirt, eyes scanning the room till they landed on her. He walked over, his steps confident but distant.
He pulled out the chair and sat down across from her, silent
Aarvika maitra/FL
Tum hamesha itne serious rehte ho ya bas meri wajah se?(trying to lighten the moment)
( TRANSLATION : Are you always this serious or is it just because of me?)
Vansh yajvan/ML
Main drama pasand nahi karta.
( TRANSLATION : I don't like drama.)
Aarvika maitra/FL
( raised an eyebrow, a small smirk playing on her lips)
Aarvika maitra/FL
So do I look like a soap opera to you?
Vansh yajvan/ML
So far, the storyline feels like one.(dryly)
Aarvika maitra/FL
(chuckled softly, but there was sadness in her eyes.)
Aarvika maitra/FL
When there’s no love in a relationship, it’s called compulsion. And stories are never born from compulsion
Vansh yajvan/ML
You want a story?(leaning back)
Aarvika maitra/FL
No. I just want to not be someone’s second choice ( softly)
He looked at her then, properly—her eyes, her pain, her strength. She wasn’t weak. She was standing in front of his broken heart, asking not to be a part of its remains.
After a few moments of silence, VANSH broke the tension.
Vansh yajvan/ML
Let’s make one thing clear. I won’t lie to you. I still love her.
Aarvika maitra/FL
And I’m marrying you under pressure. So let’s start living with honesty (nods slowly)
Vansh yajvan/ML
👈🏻 was surprised at her directness
Vansh yajvan/ML
You’re different... from everyone else.
Aarvika maitra/FL
And you’re the one... whose heart belongs to someone else.
They sat in silence again, sipping their coffee, surrounded by quiet chatter from other tables. They weren’t a typical couple. They weren’t lovers. Not yet. Maybe not ever.
But something about this conversation felt real.
Later That Evening – At VANSH’s House
AARVIKA entered his house with her small suitcase, greeted by the luxurious yet cold interiors. A woman approached her with a warm smile.
Siddhu/MAID
👈🏻in future, best friend of AARVIKA
Siddhu/MAID
Hello, ma’am. I’ll take your bags inside..
Aarvika maitra/FL
What’s your name?(smiling faintly)
Siddhu/MAID
Siddhu . You can call me a friend too. I’ll help you understand everything here.
Aarvika maitra/FL
(Eyes softened. In an unfamiliar home, at least one soul felt kind.)

CHAPTER - 3
The Burden of Expectations
The days passed by in a blur of arrangements, conversations, and quiet tension. The house was still unfamiliar to AARVIKA, but she tried to make herself at home in the midst of the luxury and coldness that surrounded her.
The family was preparing for the wedding, and every day felt like a countdown to something she had no control over. But there was a part of her that couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this marriage than what was visible on the surface
It was another evening where everyone gathered at the dinner table. The air was thick with polite conversation and forced smiles. AARVIKA noticed how distant VANSH remained, lost in his thoughts as he picked at his food. His mother smiled at him, eyes filled with pride, but AARVIKA could see the cracks. The truth was, no one here was really happy.
Saesha yajvan/ML MOM
You’ll soon call this house yours, dear. We’re happy that this marriage is happening between you two.
Saesha yajvan/ML MOM
(To AARVIKA, her tone warm)
Aarvika maitra/FL
Thank you, aunty. I’ll do my best (forcing a smile)
Aarvika maitra/FL
(She glanced at VANSH, who was still silent, his jaw clenched. He was just there, physically. His mind was elsewhere.)
Abeer yajvan/ML DAD
(to everyone)
Abeer yajvan/ML DAD
This marriage is a matter of our family’s honor. It will bring pride to our name.
AARVIKA felt the weight of the words, knowing that their marriage was never about love but duty. But what hurt her the most was that VANSH wasn’t even pretending anymore. He wasn’t hiding his feelings.
Later that evening, after the family had retired to their rooms, AARVIKA couldn’t hold it in anymore. She needed answers. She found VANSH standing alone by the balcony, looking at the dark city skyline. She approached him slowly, unsure of how to start.
Aarvika maitra/FL
(softly, as she stepped closer)
Aarvika maitra/FL
How is everything between you two?
Vansh yajvan/ML
(Turned to face her, his expression unreadable. There was no anger, no frustration. Just the resignation of a man who had already given up.)
Vansh yajvan/ML
You understand, right? For me, everything is over(in a quiet voice)
Aarvika maitra/FL
(hurriedly, her voice breaking)
Aarvika maitra/FL
You love her, so why are you putting me in between?
Vansh yajvan/ML
(Gaze softened just for a moment, but the sorrow behind his eyes was clear.)
Vansh yajvan/ML
Because this marriage is not ours. It was for the sake of our families. For you too
AARVIKA Felt a pang in her chest. He was right. They were both just pawns in this arrangement. But she couldn’t help but want something more, something real. She had hoped that maybe, just maybe, he would come to care for her.
Aarvika maitra/FL
You have to give me a chance. Who knows, maybe something will change.(determined)
Vansh yajvan/ML
I can never accept you with all my heart. For me, this marriage is just a duty, and you're giving me unrest (shaking his head, his voice cold but firm)
His words were like a slap to her heart. She had always known this was a possibility, but hearing it from him, seeing the coldness in his eyes—it hurt more than she could have imagined.
She turned away, her heart heavy. There was no coming back from this. The man she was about to marry would never love her. But did it matter? Maybe it was better to live in truth, however painful it was.
The next morning, after a long night of restless thoughts, AARVIKA found herself alone in the garden. It was early, and the cool morning breeze carried a sense of calm, but she knew it wouldn’t last long. VANSH approached her quietly, his presence always making her heart race.
Vansh yajvan/ML
(hesitating, breaking the silence)
Vansh yajvan/ML
What you said last night... I think I understand a little.
Aarvika maitra/FL
(looking away, her voice low)
Aarvika maitra/FL
I want you with all my heart, but you can't even understand your own heart
Vansh yajvan/ML
(took a step closer, his face filled with uncertainty for the first time.)
Vansh yajvan/ML
I have to live with my story, and you with yours. We both have to choose our own paths (softly)
Her Eyes filled with tears, but she held them back. She had to let go. She had to accept that no matter how much she wanted him, he would never truly be hers.
