At an information and technology training center buzzing with ambition and code, Sooya was ready to dive into a new chapter—focused, determined, and uninterested in distractions. But on the first day of class, the moment she walked into the class, her eyes met his—Suho, sitting at the back, absorbed in his laptop, his presence calm yet magnetic. There was something about him that caught her attention, something beyond the quiet confidence he exuded.
Before she could make sense of the flutter in her chest, her best friend, Ame, plopped down next to her, her eyes sparkling. “Did you see him?” Ame whispered, nodding toward Sooya. Sooya's heart skipped a beat, but she kept her expression neutral. “Who?”
Ame grinned, leaning closer. “The guy at the back. Suho. He’s perfect, right?”
Sooya’s mind raced, the words stuck in her throat. She knew exactly who Ame was talking about. She had felt that pull the moment she saw him. But she couldn’t let Ame know—not yet. She wasn’t sure what this feeling was, but she didn’t want to risk her friendship by revealing it. Not when Ame was so obviously smitten.
"I guess,” Sooya replied, forcing a casual shrug, her fingers gripping the edge of her notebook. “Not bad , somehow good!.”
Ame let out a small squeal of excitement. "I think he’s perfect! Will he like me , if I asked him out? Should I talk to him after the class?"
Sooya's smile was tight, the weight of her hidden feelings pressing down on her. “Good luck, go for it!” she managed, though inside, she was conflicted.
As the class began, Sooya sat in silence, her thoughts swirling. She had always trusted Ame with her secrets, but now, she was the one keeping one—something that threatened to change the course of everything. She couldn’t help but wonder if Suho felt the same pull, but for now, she would have to bury that feeling deep. Ame's happiness meant more than her own desires, at least for the moment.
The rest of the class passed in a blur. Sooya’s mind wandered as she kept stealing glances at Suho, but it was Ame’s voice that brought her back to reality.
You know,” Ame said after class as they gathered their things, “I’m going to go talk to him. Maybe he’ll notice me.”
Sooya's heart sank, but she smiled, nodding. “Good luck.”
Ame flashed a grin. “Don’t worry. You’ll be the first to know if it works out.”
Sooya watched as Ame walked toward Suho, a wave of uncertainty washing over her. Her heart was as cold as the snowy ice, wondering what just happened.
Sooya suddenly came to her sense and said to herself, " It's okay. If she is happy, that's what I want ."
The story had only just begun, but it was already a complicated web of friendship, longing, and unspoken feelings.
