We Who Remain: Taekook
Chapter-1
Seoul – 2:38 AM]
It began quietly.
No sirens. No alerts.
Just… silence.
The kind of silence that makes your skin crawl.
That suffocates the city like a thick fog.
And then people started falling.
Not screaming.
Just dropping—eyes wide, lips trembling—before rising again…
Wrong.
Jungkook didn’t know what was happening.
One minute he was jogging near the docks, music blasting in his ears, and the next—
He saw someone eating another person.
He froze.
Was this a prank? A druggie?
Then the attacker turned… and its eyes—milky white, blood-drenched mouth twitching—locked on him.
Jeon Jungkook
Nope *he whispered, backing up. Then he ran.*
Jungkook ducked through alleys, breath ragged, already scratched and bruised. He wasn’t a coward—but this? This wasn’t something you fight head-on.
Not without a plan. Not alone.
Yoongi had dragged Jimin out of the train wreckage.
They didn’t know each other. But it didn’t matter.
Jimin could barely speak—shell-shocked and limping—but Yoongi had seen enough war movies to know: you don’t leave someone behind.
They hid in a pharmacy.
Yoongi quietly patched up Jimin's ankle with shaking hands.
Min Yoongi
You ever seen anything like this?
Jimin just shook his head, clenching a bloodied hoodie.
Yoongi didn’t say it, but he knew.
They weren’t dealing with anything normal.
Something unnatural was crawling through the streets of Daegu.
Inside an abandoned bookstore, Namjoon pushed a dusty shelf in front of the entrance while Jin held a flashlight.
The streets outside were chaos—people running, screaming, some turning on each other.
Kim Seokjin
We need to move,
Namjoon’s hands were bloodied, not from a wound—he’d had to defend them earlier with a broken chair leg. It still didn’t feel real.
Kim Namjoon
Let’s wait till dawn. Then we plan.
Jin nodded, close enough that their shoulders brushed.
They were strangers who became teammates in the span of one nightmare hour.
And already, neither wanted to let go.
Eunwoo stumbled out of a broken clinic with Hoseok limping beside him.
Their group had tried to help others.
It backfired—badly.
Now it was just them.
Bloody, exhausted, terrified
Cha Eunwoo
We need higher ground
Hoseok just nodded, gripping a rusted pipe.
They didn’t trust each other yet—but Eunwoo had pulled him from a collapsing stairwell.
That was enough, for now.
Taehyung stood alone in his family’s greenhouse, breath fogging the glass.
He hadn’t seen anyone in hours. His phone had no signal. His dog had growled once at the shadows… then gone silent.
He sat on the floor, knees to his chest, eyes blank.
Then something flickered in his palm.
Just a spark. Gone in an instant.
He didn’t understand it.
But it didn’t scare him.
Not yet.
And Somewhere Far Away…
A tremor shook the earth beneath a forgotten mountain.
A stone cracked open.
Something stirred—but didn’t awaken.
Not yet.
Chapter-2
The moon hung low—too low.
Jungkook ducked behind a parked van, clutching a wrench he’d stolen from a half-trashed garage. Blood smeared his sleeve—not his, he kept telling himself. Not yet.
He peeked around the corner.
Three of them.
One dragging a leg.
One missing half a jaw.
One sniffing the air like a hound.
Jeon Jungkook
Think, Jungkook. Think *muttered*
He wasn’t trained for this. He was just a college student—used to gym days and dance practices, not... this. But his instincts screamed: survive.
He reached into his backpack and quietly pulled out a flare.
One shot left.
Jeon Jungkook
Run toward the river. Get lost in the woods
He whispered a prayer he didn’t really believe in anymore—and bolted
They’d found an abandoned karaoke bar.
It stank of blood and cheap beer, but the reinforced door and lack of windows made it safe—safe enough. Jimin sat curled on the couch, hoodie up, shaking slightly.
Yoongi scavenged through drawers.
Cough drops. A lighter.
A water bottle half-full. Jackpot.
Min Yoongi
Here *he said, offering it gently*
Jimin stared at the bottle, then at him.
He didn’t speak, but he nodded. Took it.
Yoongi didn’t ask questions. Not yet.
But he kept glancing at the boy’s ankle—wondering how long they could stay ahead of the infected.
Min Yoongi
We’ll move at dawn
Park Jimin
Why are you helping me? *voice was hoarse*
Yoongi shrugged, settling beside him.
Min Yoongi
You looked like someone who shouldn’t die alone.
The map was soaked in coffee and panic scribbles.
Jin was sketching a route north, while Namjoon tried to calculate how long their food would last. He rubbed at a bruise blooming across his temple.
The bookstore’s generator buzzed weakly in the background.
Kim Namjoon
We need meds. Food. A real weapon *muttered*
Kim Seokjin
We need luck *replied, half-smiling*
Outside, glass shattered. Both of them froze.
Namjoon silently grabbed the fire extinguisher. Jin stood behind him, fists clenched.
Then—
A dog. Just a stray.
Relief sank in too fast.
Because seconds later, something much larger slammed against the door.
Kim Namjoon
We run in thirty seconds *whispered, already opening the back exit*
The rooftop was quiet.
Eunwoo used his jacket to clean a pair of makeshift binoculars. Hoseok kept watch with his pipe, glancing every so often at the sleeping family they'd rescued hours ago—two kids and their injured uncle.
They hadn’t planned to stop. But...
Cha Eunwoo
I couldn’t leave them
Hoseok hadn’t argued.
Now, as the night deepened, they took turns watching the stairs. The kids slept inside a tent made of curtains and a broken tarp.
Jung Hoseok
You think this’ll get better? *asked quietly*
Cha Eunwoo
No, But we’ll get stronger.
The farmhouse was silent, the sky a deep gray.
Taehyung had buried his parents earlier that day.
He sat on the porch with a lantern beside him, holding a faded photograph. His hand trembled slightly, but his face was unreadable.
From time to time, he whispered into the dark.
To no one. To someone. Maybe to himself.
Kim Taehyung
I won’t die here.
He reached into his coat and pulled out a glowing marble—faintly pulsing.
The same light he’d seen earlier.
With a small exhale, he held it tighter and whispered something under his breath.
The marble vanished into thin air.
His power... was growing.
Far Away – Somewhere Forgotten
A ripple passed through the earth.
Not a quake. Not wind.
Something older.
In a ruined chamber deep underground, a figure stirred—but did not rise.
Not yet.
Ch-3
His lungs burned.
Branches whipped at his arms as he sprinted through the woods, the infected howling somewhere behind. The flare had worked—for a moment. Then more came. Too many.
He stumbled into a ditch, chest heaving.
Jeon Jungkook
"This is it, This is where I die."
But then something... changed.
The trees around him pulsed—briefly—like they were alive. His fingers twitched, gripping the dirt, and the moment the creature lunged into the ditch—
Jungkook disappeared.
He reappeared behind it, shocked, confused. It snarled, spun—but before it could leap again, a burst of raw power pulsed from Jungkook’s fists and slammed into the infected like a cannon.
The forest went quiet.
Jeon Jungkook
He stared at his hands. “What the hell was that?”
Yoongi woke to the sound of scratching at the front door.
They hadn’t made it to morning.
He pushed Jimin behind him and approached silently. One look through the peephole made his blood run cold. Three infected.
They hadn’t followed them here. They had tracked them.
Min Yoongi
We need another exit *whispered*
Park Jimin
There is none *said shakily*
The banging got louder. The door cracked.
Jimin flinched—and suddenly, a pale golden shimmer surrounded both of them.
Yoongi stared.
The infected broke through.
They couldn’t reach them.
Jimin’s power had awakened.
They’d escaped through the alley, ducked into an underground parking lot. One infected followed. One.
Namjoon had tried to block the door with a trash bin, but it wasn’t enough.
Jin tripped over a broken pipe and landed hard. The infected lunged.
Namjoon roared, and as he raised his arms—
A shockwave burst from his feet, slamming into the creature like an invisible hammer. It flew into the concrete wall, crumpling instantly.
Silence.
They looked at each other.
Kim Seokjin
*slowly got up, rubbing his elbow* Okay... that wasn’t normal.
The children screamed.
They’d been ambushed while trying to move to a safer building. Eunwoo had managed to shield one of the kids, but the uncle was pinned under debris, bleeding fast
Jung Hoseok
Stay back *ordered. He lunged forward—and moved faster than he’d ever felt before*
Jung Hoseok
*He twisted, slammed the pipe into the infected’s head, then dashed back.
Smoke trailed behind him—flames licked the ground where his feet had moved.*
Cha Eunwoo
You’re literally on fire
Then Eunwoo knelt by the uncle, placed a hand on his chest—and a soft blue light flowed into the wound. The bleeding stopped.
Cha Eunwoo
I... I don’t know how I did that *murmured*
Jung Hoseok
You’ll figure it out *trying to smile* We all will.
Taehyung sat in the old barn, head tilted to the side.
Something—or someone—was nearby. He could feel them. A heat behind his eyes. A whisper in his chest.
He stepped outside, gripping his rusted sickle.
Three infected. One already lunging.
He flinched—and the world... slowed.
His body moved, guided by instinct. A bright pulse shot from his hand, knocking two away. The third attacked—and vanished into thin air.
No... he had stored it.
His hand glowed, and the infected reappeared—inside the barn, locked behind chains.
Taehyung exhaled.
Kim Taehyung
Let’s keep this one between us *he whispered, looking skyward*
Unknown Location – Deep Below
The figure stirred again.
Its head lifted slightly.
Eyes opened—one black, one gold.
“They’re awakening…”
The voice echoed into the dark.
“Interesting.”
