Annette’s POV

A girl sat by the window, tears streaming down her despairing eyes. She reflected on all the actions she had taken in the past that contributed to her unfortunate situation. “I deserve it”, she thought in her mind. Outside, the rain poured down in heavy torrents, as if it were mourning alongside 'her'. It was 3:00 am, and she was unable to sleep. She feared that if she sleeps then she’ll be awoken by that nightmare which she has been seeing for the past 2 years. She took out the diary from her bedside drawer and started flipping the pages. The diary contained pictures of her and ‘his’. “Oh how I miss those moments”, she thought in agony. She regretted everything she did. “I hate myself”, Annette thought in anguish and pain. She brought the knife from the kitchen and kept it on her wrist. No matter how hard she tried to cut herself she couldn’t as she believed she must suffer for her deeds.

3rd Person POV

A girl was pleading to not beat her any more.“Please don’t beat me”, the five-year-old cried and cried till her eyes could no more shed tears. “I will try my best to get A next time”,her voice quivered with fear. “You made a mistake, and you should be punished for that”, Annette’s mother told cold heartedly. “No mother please ,please just this one time I’ll never repeat this mistake ever again please , just let it slide this time please mother”,little Annette cried and begged poorly in front of her parents who were not at all ready to listen to her. “SHUT UP AND STOP CRYING” her father yelled at her. They started dragging her towards the dark basement and then locked her up. “Stay here for a day and then you will learn your lesson”. “Stop!!! Please father I beg you , I am really afraid of the dark ,please please show mercy on me . I am promising you it will never happen again. I swear to god please please”. “PLEASE STOPP!”,She awakened from her slumber, drenched in sweat from the nightmare.Her hand shook as she attempted to grasp the water jug placed beside her bed.This is the reason she never liked to fall asleep. The nightmares still haunted her . Her nightmare included her parents or the wrong things she did to ‘him’.In these 5 years there was not even a single day when she did not regret her actions. The absence of love and affection from her family led her to feel unworthy of love.She thought one day or the other she will move on from the incident.But it was impossible for her to move on . No matter how much she wanted to move on, she still couldn’t. The guilt was eating her from inside and it was making her restless. She could remember all those sweet moments and promises. She sat quietly by the window, observing the rain gently touching the streets. Additionally, she experienced a sense of numbness as tears streamed down her dark doe-like eyes.
