Prologue

There was an outbreak of a strange feeble virus in a beautiful city called Polly City.People suffered from blood vomiting,excess hunger,high fever and dry cough.It was not effective as it looked,people got treated conveniently together with the disease. But that did not end the sickness entirely. Luckily there were two ambitious new scientists.Jefry Greenwood and Hawkins Limbard. Jefry was a good scientist,he discovered inestimable loop holes to many things and that made him a unique scientist. Hawkins was one in a million kind of scientist.His skill lied in discovering solutions to any dilemma and also invention. Tbe two formed their own company which they named Limwood. Their fame skyrocketed and they were acknowledged. But their fame was lopsided.People tended to favor Hawkins more than Jefry and that made Jefry a bit jealous but they remained friends as always. As time went on,fame went on as well,as well as Hawkin's,Jefry's jealousy got more intense by time and his hatred manifested. He began to hate Hawkins. Hawkins discovered a cure to the common virus and his idea was published online and the government promised him a unanimous reward. Jefry tried to do the same but he couldn't and that made him to frustrate.He was filled with anger,jealousy and hate. Hawkins created a new antidote of the virus which was called Lim. It went on sale and people bought it and they were treated entirely. He was rewarded by the government and Jefry was left aside. Little did Hawkins know that the antidote he made,Jefry had added a corrupt substance in it to make it fail before it went on sale.Despite his ability to find any loop holes to anything,he made use of his talent by corruting his friend's antidote and made it a powerful,rapid virus. Afterwards the people who bought the antidote started to get infected,their skin turned,their veins changed their color together with their blood and the color of their mouths,teeth and tongues.They developed a rapid hunger of flesh that they began to eat those who were not infected.In other terms they became a species that only feed on humans,...yes zombies!!

Chapter One

'Spread'

Stalk City,07:30am "Come on!!Ugh,fuck!!",Nina,a brown haired gorgeous woman of early thirties yelled in her car sounding her hooter while stuck in traffic. "Mom,language,there's a kid here",Kaine her Twenty year old boy said. "I heard that",Hanna said,Kaine's little sister while on her phone.She was sixteen.They were both sitting at the back. "And you're not a kid?",Nina replied. "Well,not anymore",Kaine replied back gazing through the window."I think we should walk or we'll be late for school" "Absolutely not,I'm driving you there,none of my children ought to walk to school alone,that would be preposterous",Nina said."Plus,what do you think your father will say about that?" "This is gonna be a long day",Kaine sighed.He rested his chin on his fist. He unlocked his phone,there was message Kira : Hey baby,we've crossed the boarder,we're on our way home.He saw the message and replied.Okay,I can't wait to see you again Kira : Me too ,I love you I love you too.He locked his phone then saw a man sprinting through the traffic going forward."Mm,he's fast,...I think I should r-" "No no!You're not running,...okay,no one's running",Nina said. "I was just stating that If I could just run like that maybe I would reach school within twenty minutes",Kaine said. "And I'm just stating that no one is going to run,even if your body had the same ability as that man's",Nina replied. "Mmm....what's even blocking freaking traffic its lik-whoah,there goes another one....mom I think people are just going to run to work,I think its not a bad idea though....what the...",Kaine saw other three people sprinting through as well. "We just need to wait a little longer,the traffic will clear soon",Nina said as she checked her watch,"see...there's still time" "What's...going on?",Kaine wasn't listening.He deliberately opened the door and stood out of the car. "Kaine what are you doing,get back in the car,its not safe",Nina yelled.Kaine looked back and saw a numerous number of people sprinting,like they were evading from something. "Is it a riot or something?",Kaine asked himself. "Kaine get the fuck back in the car!" "Language!",Kaine yelled from outside trying to make out the situation of the people running. "Ah shit,fuck!I mean,sorry honey",Nina said looking back at her daughter. "I've been adding the vulgar words you've been spitting to my list,so that I can use them when someone insults me....let's see so there's shit,fuck,slut,bitch,assho-" "Hey hey hey!!No!!Delete those words young lady!!",Nina yelled to her trying to reach her phone. "No!They're my ace in my sleeve!!",Hanna said. "What the-the ace in your what?Slee-give me that phone!!" "Mom,stop I don't wanna!!",they continued quarelling while Kaine gazed at the people.They ran through the traffic.They were so many and were screaming. "What's going on?!",Kaine tried to reach one of them but they kept evading "They're coming!!",one of the people yelled. "Coming?Who's coming?",Kaine said.He then saw another number of people heading to him the same direction where the people were evading.They seemed strange to him,they were walking and running funny,covered in blood.Their appearance were savage and their skin and eyes were distinct. "Mom?What's that?",Kaine yelled. "What's what?Get in the fucking car!!" He then saw a woman being dragged by those people and she suddenly got bitten on her neck as she screamed in agony and her arms was ripped off and blood spilled all over.Kaine widened his eyes and covered his mouth wanting to vomit,his heart raced and was filled with fright.The woman was reaching out to him. "Help,please help me",she spoke low and she collapsed then the rest of them started to come. "Mom!Mom!Get out of the car now!!",Kaine yelled. "What the,okay I've had it with you!!",Nina exited the car,"Get in the fucki-",she froze as she saw them,they were terrifying,with blood on their mouths howling strangely. "What-what the fuck is that?!",Nina yelled pointing her finger to them. "I don't know I-",Kaine saw the woman who had been bitten and collapsed waking up again,she was facing down.Kaine peered a bit harder then she faced up and let out a strange awful voice,her face was now different and frightful.She froze for a moment. The she suddenly started running coming to them with the others. "Shit,baby,get out now!!",Nina said as she opened the door and Hanna got out. "Mom what's going on..... what the fuck is that?!!",Hanna yelled. "Language!!Come on come on",Nina and her children evaded from their car and started to run forward. They looked back and saw that they were still coming. "What the hell are those things?",Kaine yelled. "I don't know sweety,let's stay together come on",Nina said while they were running. They ran along the bridge. "Shit,is this even happening?",Kaine said. "Mom,I'm scared,I'm scared",Hanna said. "I know sweety but everything is going to be okay",Nina said then suddenly a missle went straight behind them a distance apart and exploded and eliminated the infected behind them as Kaine got blown aside and thrown into the lake and his mother and sister were also blown away by the sound wave of the explosion but were still on the bridge.The missle came from a helicopter Kaine fidgeted in the waters and finally swam up and found himself at the other side.He coughed out a bit of water and took his breath. "Mom,Hanna",he hastily stood up and started to head back.He then halted. "No...",he said,He saw those people blocking the way heading to him and some of them rushing to him.He turned around and started to run.He was clueless of where to run. "Where should I go?Where should I go?Shit!!",he was completely terrified.His breath escalated,he was panting hard,he was running carelessly,his mouth was dry. He continued to run and headed in town.Everything was abandoned and the entire town was deserted.Buildings were collapsed and cars were smashed everywhere. He saw a store and began to head there.Then he suddenly twisted his ankle and fell. "Ahhh,ahhh shit ahh",he cried out loud.He heard a sound,then he looked behind him and saw it,another one,it was eating a flesh of a human corpse,it saw him then it tilted its head to the other side and started to approach him,it was also injured on its leg. "No no no,...getaway!!Getway!!",Kaine yelled dragging himself back while still down throwing stones at it.He felt something behind him,it was a car.He took advantage and supported himself to get up and turned around and he suddenly saw it closer to him as it reached its hand to him for a strike then it was smacked its head out of the blue and it fell down.It was a girl,who smacked it,she had brown hair,super pretty and had a nice voice. "Wh-w-thanks",Kaine thanked. "Save that for later,we should get out of here,its not safe,come on",she put his hand over her shoulder and assisted him. She took him to an abandoned hotel and went up the stairs and into a room. She placed him down and she closed and locked the door. "Uh,what the-",Lany said,he was a blonde,brown eyes and good looking. "I found him on the verge of death" "Aisha,did you even check if he's infected?",asked Natly,she was a brown haired beautiful girl of late teen. "Uhhh I don't think he is",Aisha said. "What about his leg?He might have been bitten",Natly said. "No he did not,he twisted his ankle",Aisha replied. "Wait you were watching me?",Kaine asked. "Uhm,sort o-kind of,just wanted to see how you were going to survive and I now am quite certain that you didn't stand any chance",Aisha responded. "Wait what did you mean by infected?",Kaine asked. "What do you mean what do we mean by infected?You have heard the news right?",Aisha said. "News?" "A number of people received a message from the government stating that there were some infected people from Polly City who crossed the boarder and they got worse here and spread the virus.Apparently when they were crossing the boarder,even themselves didn't know that they were infected and nor did anyone else",Natly said. "Gosh,I hope my mom and my sister are okay,damnit!",Kaine said. "What happened?",Lany asked. "We were separated,in the middle of evading those infected people and suddenly a missle tore them apart and I was thrown into the water at the bridge,I'm pretty sure it was a helicopter,I tried to go back but,the infected people were already coming and blocking the bridge so I had no choice but to run",Kaine explained. "Well,I was supposed to meet my parents,they just came here to this side and before I could do that ,that is when this all shit started to happen and I didn't meet them",Aisha said. "I was in the middle of heading to school,but were stuck in a traffic,we were in the bus with Lany and everyone exited the bus when it started and we just scattered in different directions,I just happened to pair with Lany here",Natly replied. "A helicopter?There's a high chance that they were rescued and taken by that helicopter to the base",Lany said. "Base?What kind of base?" "Special Forces,people are being taken there and there's a higher probability that the four of us might be the only ones left here in this town",Lany said. "Kira",Kaine said and unlocked his phone.There was a message Kira : Baby what's happening?Everyone is going insane and I can't come there any longer.I'm scared Kaine Kaine : I know,where are you? Kira : We're at the other side of the city,the West side,its kind of a bit peaceful here,there are a lot of people,we're trying to stay together as we possibly can but I don't know how long this is gonna last.I'm so scared Kaine : I'm scared too,we'll get through this okay.I promise Kira : Okay,so what are you going to do?Are you gonna come? Kaine : If its possible I might Kira : Okay "And also I might have some kind of a theory on these infected",Lany said. "What do you mean?",Natly asked. "Come on.have you all not realized it yet?",Lany asked. "Realized what?",Aisha said. "What kind of a thing has black veins,bad odor in their mouths and also dim color in their mouths?Eats flesh?If bitten you turn into one of them?",Lany said. "Wbat are you getting at?",Kaine asked. "What am I getting at?They're zombies" "Wait no,you must be....no!Those are like,movie scary stuff only right?Right?",Aisha said. "I mean,everything Lany described,really made kind of sense",Natly said. "What?!Okay you're scaring me",Aisha said. "They really are zombies aren't they?I saw it for myself,there was a woman in the streets who was bitten and woke up and turned into one of them,...I think its true",Kaine said. "Ugh,shit!..We're fucked",Natly said.

8:30am,Stalk City "Why are you taking this like its not a serious matter,this is a freaking serious matter!",Aisha exclaimed. "We know!!Okay,we can't just agitate like chimpanzees",Natly said. "Of course we should agitate,this is death we're talking about,matter of fact its way more worse than death!I don't wanna turn into a freaking flesh eating zombie!!",Aisha yelled. "No one is gonna turn into a zombie okay?!",Lany exclaimed back. "You don't know that!You don't know what's gonna happen and stop being so freaking optimistic,its not going to help anyone you hear me?!",Aisha yelled back. "Well its better than freaking out and being perssimistic!!",Lany yelled. "Aisha calm down!!",Natly said. "I am calm!!",Aisha yelled. "No you're not,get a grip damnit!",Natly exclaimed. "You get a grip!This is an apocalypse,you know what that means?!It means total obliteration of the entire human race itself!!",Aisha replied. "Yes,I'm quite familiar of what it means and freaking out and yelling on top of our voices is not going to solve anything!!So just,take a deep breath",Natly said.Aisha frowned a bit,then she dropped down to her knees and leaned back against the wall. "So what's our plan?",Kaine asked. "Well,I guess we'll just have to sit tight and wait,...the Marines will come and save us",Lany said. "I'm sorry..what?",Kaine said. "Sit tight?",Aisha said,"do you have any idea of what you're implying right now,I really don't know if I should be elated or flummoxed because what you just said is highly irregular" "Precisely,we can't just sit on our asses and depend on those marines,they don't even know that we're here",Natly said. "I suggest we head to the West side,my girlfriend just said that its a bit peaceful there and there are many individuals",Kaine said. "Mmm,that could be a useful plan",Lany said."But I think we should depart tomorrow,right now things are still heated up" "Agreed",Natly said. "So for the mean time we just have to gather food,anything useful as a weapon so that we'll make it through the night...I saw a store earlier when I was outside",Kaine said. "You mean when you were about die",Aisha said. "Thank you for the rephrasing",Kaine said in a sacarstic manner. "Okay,let's head out then,but first we ought to check if its clear",Lany said. "Okay sure",Kaine stood up,"Arrghh",he groaned then he dropped down,"Argh,had forgotten about my ankle" "Let me see",Lany approached him and touched his leg,"I'm gonna put it back on a count of three okay?" "Okay" "One!!",Lany counted as he twisted it back and Kaine grunted. "The fuck,where's two and three?",Kaine said. "They were eaten,....by zombies",Lany said. "Its not hilarious!!",Aisha said,"let's go then".They exited the hotel and went downstairs.They exited outside.

Special Forces Base

8:50am Every individual who was taken to the Special Force's base was checked and tested for immunity in their bloodstreams,to make entirely certain that they were free from the virus. "Mom,what are we going to do about Kaine?I miss him",Hanna said. "I miss him too baby",Nina said,she approached a random soldier."Um excuse me Mr my son-" "Step back Miss",he replied. "Okay just listen,my son and I got separated before me and my daughter were brought here,can you please go back to Stalk City and search for him,I beg you",Nina pleaded. "Ma'am,that complaint is not the first one I've heard ,a lot of people here also got their loved ones trapped in that city too,so I suggest you sit tight and let us handle our jobs",he said.Nina stood back. "Ugh fuck!...Kaine I hope you're okay,you too my husband",Nina said to herself hugging Hanna.

Stalk City

9:00am "Just grab the important stuff and head back",Lany said as they split up into different rows searching for food. "Bags",Natly said. "Yeah,most likely our primary priority",Aisha yelled behind another row picking up food and snacks. "There should be meat here",Lany approached a storeroom entrance as a zombie leaped against him and he felled with his back with the zombie fighting him on top of him."Ughh,ahh",he quickly grabbed a plank beside him then it went for a bite as he stuffed the plank in its mouth with it trying to bite it off. "Lany!!",Kaine and the others rushed to him. "Uggghhh,yuck",Lany said watching its open mouth and its saliva flowing along the plank.Kaine hastiy grabbed an axe and swang it and it went deep in its head,then it quickly stood up and attacked Kaine. "Kaine!!",Aisha called out. "Haaa!!Get off!!",he held its shoulders avoiding to get bitten on his neck then its head was chopped off and it dropped down together with the body.It was Lany,he had grabbed another axe.Kaine was panting hard and so was Lany and the others. "This ought to be useful",Lany said. "We need to get out of here",Kaine said. "Shit!!",Natly said looking on her phone. "What is it?",asked Lany. "No service",she replied "What?!".Kaine unlocked his phone.There was no service either."No no no no....damnit!!....my battery is also drained" "We'll find a functioning car,to use to charge our phones,we might also use it interms of transport if essential",Lany said, "That might be of use",Aisha said. "Okay,let's get out of here",Natly said and they exited the store.

The West side of the town

10:30am "Alright everyone,gather everything you see as food,water,weapons,torches.We ought to survive until the Special force team or marines come to our aid",Jackson,a man of mid thirties said.They were in a large mall with a lot of people taking habit in there. "Who placed him in charge?",asked Kira.She was brown haired,beautiful girl of late teen.She was eating a protein bar.Sitting at the stairs. "Himself I guess",Gail replied.A friend of Kira's,pretty and blonde.She was sitting right next to her. "Oh.Those so called self-proclaimed 'I wanna be a leader just because I'm good at talking in front of a crowd" type of people?",Kira replied as she took another bite. "Hahaha,probably,those are also the ones that would end up calling themselves the hero of Justice",Gail said. "Haha,you catch my drift cupcake",Kira said and took another bite. Gail noticed Kira's forceful hunger and then saw her hand which was holding the protein bar trembling a bit together with her lips.Gail then touched Kira's trembling hand and it stopped and Kira looked at her.Then she sighed,and she faced down. She deepened her hand into her hair. "I'm scared....and I miss Kaine,...I so want him,I want to see him again...and the service is no more",Kira said and checked her phone. "I know,I'm scared too,and you will see him.Let's be scared together,maybe it will be less scary",Gail said. "Haha,its better than being scared alone",Kira said. "Now come on,we don't want the hero of justice to bite our asses for not co-operating",Gail stood up. "I would rather be eaten by a zombie than have him bite my ass",Kira replied. "Haha,not physically silly,it was just an expression" "Yeah yeah I know",Kira said.

Stalk City

14:40am Kaine heard a bump sound while he was half alseep.He opened his eyes deliberately. He saw that everyone else was asleep,he heard the bump sound again.It was coming from the hallway. He got up and steathly placed his ear against the door,he heard it again.He slowly opened the door and peeked in the hallway,to the left,then to the right and widened his eyes.It was a zombie.It was headbutting a door endlessly,from a distance apart in the hallway.Kaine carefully stepped back and turned around and woke the others. "Uh not now",Aisha said. "Shhh",Kaine hushed to all of them and mouthed,"there is a zombie in the hallway" "What?!",Aisha whispered. "We must leave now",Natly said. "Lets take the important stuff and stuff them in our backpacks,leave the blankets",Lany whispered. "Okay let's go",Kaine said as he took the lead and stood at the door and peeked,he saw it,it was still doing it.He signaled them to step out and one by one they turned left heading to the next upstairs.They walked deliberately looking back keeping any eye on the zombie which was headbutting the door. "We're almost there,keep going",Kaine whispered.Then another zombie appeared from the downstairs where the first zombie was. Kaine's eyes opened wide.It saw them and they froze...... ...... "Uhaaargghhh",it howled and they began to come running and there were also the others tailing them. "Haaaaaaa run!!!",Kaine yelled. "Shit ,shit!!",Aisha exclaimed in fright. "Where?!!Up?",Natly yelled. "Yes yes!!Up,up!!",Kaine yelled back. "Why are we going up?How are we going to go back down?!",Lany asked. "So you rather go down to where the whole gang is at?If you really want to be zombie snack so bad then be my guest because this snack is not going to get eaten!!",Kaine yelled. They went up until they reached the rooftop,they went out and closed and locked the door. "Well,what now?",Lany asked, "I don't know..",Kaine went to the edge and looked down."ouummm,that's really far down" "What are we going to do now?",Aisha asked. "Yeah,what's next?",Natly asked too while dripping with fright as they heard an intense pounding sound on the door and they all startled and faced it and froze. "What was that?",Aisha asked.They heard the pound again. "Guys?",Natly said.They heard it again.Kaine began to pant sharper every second. They heard it again and again and again,the door was breaking and cracking apart. Then it stopped....... .......... They all breathed a sigh of relief then the door broke as countless inestimable zombies broke through "Ohhhhh shhiiittt!!!"

18:05pm “Haaagh!”,Kaine hastily sat up as he woke up from his nightmare,he was panting sharply. “Shhh,come here”,Aisha whispered standing by the window. Kaine quietly stood up and approached her. “What is it?”,Kaine whispered. “Look”.Aisha said,they saw countless zombies moving about in the streets down. Kaine gulped. “Is this….gonna end?”,Aisha asked. “I don’t know”,Kaine replied.He recalled his nightmare and looked back at the door. He began to approach it deliberately. “Hey!!”,Aisha whipered and he looked back,”what are you doing?”,Kaine faced back at the door and proceeded approaching it. “Hey hey hey”,Aisha rushed to him and stood in front of him. “Have you lost your freaking mind?”,she said. “I just need to check something out”,he walked past her and removed the things blocking at the door and unlocked it. “Kaine!”,Aisha exclaimed a bit and Natly moaned a bit in her sleep.Aisha looked back at her and saw that she was still asleep then she sighed. “You don’t have to come,I’ll be back”,Kaine said and went out. “Shhit!!”,Aisha followed. Kaine walked past a door which was being headbutted by a zombie in his dreams and forze a bit glaring at it…… He suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder and was startled as he looked back panting. “Hey hey,its me”,Aisha said. “Oh…mmm….okay”,he said still breathing hard. They went downstairs and walked past the reception. They saw a multiple number of zombies walking outside and hid behind the entrance doors as they peeked. “They’re so many of them”,Kaine whispered. “Kaine,let’s go back,….I’m freaking terrified”,Aisha whispered back then one of the zombies stopped with its mouth open,it was a male.Kaine hushed and placed his finger on his lips. It began heading to the entrance where they were. It stopped at the entrance,Kaine was at its right side and Aisha at its other side. It stood there for a moment with its mouth open,twisting its head. Aisha was breathing a bit heavier every second glaring at it.Her chest was rising and falling. Then it suddenly faced Kaine quickly. “Haaaaarrgghh”,it howled then it struck viciously with its hand and Kaine yelled and ducked. “Aishs!!Go!”,he yelled as she rushed to the upstairs.Kaine picked up a steel pipe and smacked its side head as it fell then he turned around and went upstairs then the other zombies began to come. Aisha budged in and woke every one. “The fuck is going on?”,Natly groaned a bit. “Yeah,what is it?”,Lany asked. “Zombies!They’re coming,from downstairs”,Aisha said packing her things in her backpack. “Oh shittt!!”,Lany quickly stood up and packed his stuff and Natly too. “Can’t we close the door and block it while we’re in here?”,Natly asked. “Negative,it won’t hold,we’ll be zombie food before we know it”,Lany said. “Guys!!We should go now!!”,Kaine arrived at the door as he said and they all exited and turned left and began to run. “Where are we headed?!Up?”,Lany asked then Kaine recalled his dream. “No!!We should head down,if we go up we’ll have nowhere else to go!”,Kaine said. “Yeah,good point !!”,Lany replied then another zombies grabbed Kaine’s leg by his ankle as he fell with his front. “Kaine!!”,They all looked back and Kaine began to kick it on its face harder and harder then it let go and he stood up and continued to evade. “Keep going!!”,he yelled and they reached another downstairs and went down.They reached the ground and exited at the other side of the hotel and started running along the streets with countless zombies tailing them. “Shit shit shit”,Aisha said while frightened.They turned left along the other street and proceeded running.They heard the other zombies coming from where they were headed and they all halted. “Stop stop!!...This way”,Kaine said and turned another way and they heard them coming from there also and from all the sides. “Well this isn’t good”,Lany said. “Yeah no shit!”,Natly said. “Oh my God,we’re surrounded?Please don’t tell me we’re surrounded”,Aisha said panting hard. Kaine then saw a hole down the ground an entrance to an underground tunnel. “Guys?”,Kaine said looking down at it. “You must be shitting me”,Aisha said. Kaine kneeled together with Lany and they opened the lid and the others went down along the metal ladder and Kaine lastly entered.He took the lid,as he was about to close he waited for the zombies to show up in the street.They did then he closed it.

The West side of the town

19:oopm Kira hastily woke up from her dream gasping for air touching her heart,looking at it the she breathed a sigh of relief. "Just a dream,it was just a dream",she whispered.She grabbed a plastic bottle beside her and she drank some water. She stood up and wore her jacket.She looked at Gail,she was deep asleep. She then departed from there walking steadily jumping other people avoiding to wake them up. She walked around the mall looking around with her torch on. She unlocked her phone while she was walking.She sighed. "Stupid phone",she said after noticing that there was still no service. She continued looking around and arrived at another space and faced beside her,there was person!!She stepped back with fright. It wasn't a person,it was a doll.She sighed with her hand on her chest.There was a wide collection of them and some of them scattered all over and others laying down the ground.There was a gleam of the full moon in there so there was light that she tunred off her torch. She walked past them browsing them,some with their clothes on and some not. She heard a sound,she stopped and faced where the sound was coming from. It was coming from another shop,a gaming cafe.It was pitch black in there.She started to approach it deliberately.The closer she got ,the more she could make up what it was. She saw a person,he was kneeling down,eating something,he was facing the other way. Kira attempted to speak her tongue froze.She saw something off about the guy.The sound of his voice,the way he was eating and what he was eating.Fresh raw meat. She then realized it.It was a zombie.She covered her mouth with her hand and her breath quickened.with her eyes wide. Then she started to back step slowly getting away from there.She mistakenly bumped into another standing doll and it fell. "No!",she whispered as the zombie quickly looked back and she gulped. "Uuuahhhhrgghh",it quickly stood up then it started to come. "Shit!",she said then she turned around and started to run pulling down the dolls in her way to make it stumble. She ran to where she came from all the way to the main hall yelling. 19:30pm Kaine and the rest found where to habit for the night in the tunnels.Natly and Kaine were asleep while Lany was on watch duty.
