“Move your ***!” Tyson barked and Violet tried to
keep up with him. Her breath was short
and loud as she raced with Tyson out of the Black Clover’s headquarters. “Who
are we running from?” Violet managed, breathlessly. Tyson didn’t answer her.
“Hellooo.” She said persistently. “Shut up kid. This isn’t a joke.” He said not
even glancing her way. They hurried through endless amounts of passageways and
corridors. The Black Claver’s headquarters were big like that. “Sure as hell
seems like one. It looks to me like the same guy that kidnapped me is now
rescuing me.” Violet muttered. Tyson glanced at her. “Who taught you to speak
like that?!” he demanded. She grinned at him. “You did.” Muttering under his
breath, he kicked the emergency exit door open and took the stairs to the roof
2 by 2. Violet clambered up to match his pace but it was useless. Tyson was a sturdy,
heavily built, laboriously trained, seventeen-year old man. And she was just a
small, scrawny, seven-year old kid. It wasn’t even two minutes before she
started feeling sick and dizzy. Her ears were feeling hot and sweat trickled
down her neck. She had to stop. Now or she would feint. “Why are you stopping?!”
he yelled not even turning to check on her. “Tyson...” she mumbled. “What?!” he
yelled and turned to look at her. Her face was pink and her eyes were watering.
As if she was having a pollen allergy or something. She leaned on the rail. “I
can’t...” she mumbled. He didn’t let her finish. Quick as a flash he picked her
up and carried on up the stairs with her over his shoulder. There wasn’t much
time left. In a matter of seconds the alarm would sound and then there’d be no
saving them. His feet didn’t falter as he sprinted up the stairs with her. She kept trying to look behind them but he
stopped her. “Don’t look.” He said continuing up. “Tyson?” she asked him. He
didn’t look at her. She continued anyway. “Are you the good guy or bad guy?”she
said. Tyson looked at her seriously then. “I’m the bad guy. The very, very, bad
guy.” He said. Violet rubbed at her eyes, she was getting tired. “But you’re
protecting me.” She said. “That’s right. I’m always protecting you kid.” Tyson
laughed. Only a few seconds now. Freedom was within their reach. “But why? Why
are you always protecting me?!” Violet demanded. “It’s my job kid.” Tyson said.
“Just my job.”
Violet smiled. She might be young, but she knew you
didn’t deceive your own boss because of a job. “Why are you smiling?” Tyson
asked her. “Why aren’t you smiling?”
Violet countered. “Because.” Tyson said as he opened the exit door. “There’s
nothing to smile for.”

Part one
A psychopath’s sweetheart
“It’s funny. She was designed as the weapon.
And yet I was the one fighting to protect her.”
- Unknown
“Violet!
Did you even hear one godamned word I said in the past hour?!” Mark yelled. “I
heard you say Violet.” Violet smiled smugly. Mark sighed. “Violet I was saying
you shouldn’t mess with your uncle like that. You know how he is. And if you
continue like this I might not even be able to speak to you! And you know what
would happen then.” Mark said. “Yeah, yeah. No late night snacks, walking out
of my quarters or contact with the outside world. But how was I supposed to
know the hot sauce would burn my uncle’s eye?” Violet sulked. Mark rolled his
eyes at her dramatises. “Your uncle is not a man to mess with. He’s a very
formal man.” Mark continued. “I’M AWARE!” Violet yelled to stop him from
beginning another lecture. Mark smiled knowing he’d won. “Want to go for a
walk?” Mark offered. “Yes!” Violet said jumping up like a kid. Mark laughed,
not knowing he’d just made the biggest mistake of his life. Oh if only he could
turn back time...

“I’m the enemy little girl,
you shouldn’t speak to me.”Tyson said.“You’re only the kidnapper. The enemy is
your boss.”Violet said stubbornly. Tyson was quiet then. There wasn’t much he
could say anyway, because the girl was right.“Listen here smart ass…”he
started.“What exactly does the grimoire do?”Violet cut in avoiding a lecture.
She could tell whenever adults wanted to annoy the crap out of her. “It allows
you to control all the dimensions.” Tyson sighed.“Can’t you already do that?” Violet
asked him. Tyson shook his head.“I can only open the dimensions, not control
them.” he said.“And they think I have a link to the grimoire?”Violet asked him,
snorting. If this was another of those
‘You’re special’ things adults keep telling you, she wasn’t gonna fall for it. Not
really. Tyson thought. They
think you are the grimoire.
“So what exactly to do you have
to the grimoire to control the dimensions?” Violet asked, since she was,
actually a bit curious. Stab it in the heart and drink a pint of it’s
blood. “And why do they need you?” Violet continued on. “When they are
able to control the dimensions I will have to be the doorway, opening which
dimension they want to be in, when they want to be in one.” Tyson said.“So
you’re like their slave.” Violet said, to the point. That’s one way to put
it. Tyson nodded quietly. He didn’t want to mention how much The Black
Clovers paid him to do their nasty work. He didn’t even want to kill this child.
Children weren’t really his style. Especially since he once was one. Hopefully,
they’d just pay him off fast so he could get this over with and forget about
it. “I’d beat the shit out of everyone if I had to be someone’s slave.” Violet
said. Tyson smiled. “You’re starting to sound like me, kid. You listen to my
conversations too much.” He said. “And the problem with that is?” Violet said
staring pointedly at him. Somehow that unnerved him. “You don’t listen to
strangers.” He said, trying to make her understand. “But you’re not a
stranger.” Violet said to him. She stared at him. “I’m worse than a stranger.”
Tyson said. Violet just laughed.
“Violet, I think we should go
back.” Mark said interrupting her thoughts. “Why? What’s wrong?” Violet said
following Mark’s gaze as he tried to shove her back. He was staring at a guy
with blonde hair that looked strangely familiar...Violet’s heartbeat quickened.
“Caylen!” she ran towards him. “No wait Violet!” Mark’s voice called and he
tried to stop her. Violet ignored him. She wasn’t an idiot, she knew just who
her ex was. A liar. A faker. A psychopath. Violet threw herself into Caylen’s
arms and they wrapped around her. The gun came to her head faster than she
thought it would. “Get into my aircraft. NOW.” Caylen ordered. Violet
obediently walked with him, to the camouflaged aircraft awaiting them on the
other side of the street. Mark was still yelling at her, but she ignored him.
When she was safely inside the aircraft, Caylen didn’t even bother with her.
There was no escaping now. “Violet you idiot! Try and get out of there now!”
Mark was yelling but the aircraft had already started ascending, and was
levitating a foot off the ground. “I can’t Mark! I’m going for Tyson!” Violet
yelled as the aircraft continued ascending. It was now a metre off the ground.
“Tyson?” Mark’s voice sounded puzzled. Then understanding dawned on his face,
which, was very hard to see from the aircraft as it was still ascending.
“Violet you dipshit! Don’t do this! You don’t even know if he still remembers
you!’ he yelled. “I have to try!” Violet said and then the aircraft ascended
into the clouds as Mark watched her go. “Siri call Tyson.” Mark said into his
phone. “I have got some serious explaining to do with him.”
“And he is not gonna like it.”
Caylen was Violet’s boyfriend.
Or so she thought. He was actually spying on her to find out how she was
related to the grimoire. Violet watched him now, with growing hatred. “Are you
gonna keep staring at me or do you want to actually talk?” Caylen said without
turning his head to look at her. How do
they do that?! Violet thought. Caylen was steering the aircraft, as
aircraft are too dangerous to be left on auto-pilot. “You don’t deserve to be
spoken to.” Violet sulked. Caylen smiled. “Then you don’t have to speak to me.”
He said. There was silence once again in the aircraft.
“Sir?” Mark called out in the silence of Ben,
Violet’s uncle’s office. No answer. Mark wandered over to Ben’s table quietly,
wondering if he left a note. Nothing. Just papers and folders on different
people, letters reminding him that he owed the bank lots of money and mails
from Ben’s friends. Mark decided he’d speak to Ben later and was about to leave
when a huge envelope caught his eye. It was from the Black Clovers. What is Ben doing with an envelope from them?”Mark had wondered opening the
envelope carefully. Inside he found a cheque with an enormous amount of money.
Enough to pay off all the bank debts and more. Mark dropped the envelope in
shock, his fingers trembling violently. There was only one reason the Black
Clovers would have decided to send Ben a cheque. Suddenly scared, Mark reached
down and picked up the envelope again. Inside he found a letter with the
cheque. Carefully typed and printed neatly, were ten words that made Mark’s
blood run cold.
We will come fetch Violet in two days. Be ready.
Ben isn’t protecting Violet at all.
“Did you hear anything I said
to Mark earlier?” Violet asked him. Caylen grinned. “I thought you weren’t
speaking to me.” He said. Violet rolled her eyes. “Just answer me.” She said.
“What will you do if I say I did?” Caylen asked her. “YOU DID?!” Violet
shrieked. Caylen shrugged. “You’re kind of loud when you scream.” He said.
Violet glared at him. “Guess I don’t deserve to be spoken to again?” Caylen
asked her. “Shut up.” She muttered.
“Let’s not beat around the
bullshit Tyson-”
“I agree.” Tyson cut in. Mark
stared at Tyson. “What is it?” Tyson said. “She loves you, you know?”Mark said.
Tyson ran a hand through his jet-black hair. “Unfortunately for her, I do
know.” Tyson said. He looked at Mark. “I don’t mess around with kids, Mark.”
Tyson said. “I know that, just...” Mark trailed off. “Just what?” Tyson
persisted.
“She’s still a girl Tyson!”
Mark said. “I agree.” Tyson said. “Don’t break her heart...or hurt her...” Mark
said quietly. Tyson snorted. “Dude, what type of a perv do you take me for?” he
said. Mark retreated back as if he’d been bitten. “So you are a perv.” He said.
Tyson rolled his eyes. “Mark, if I am a pervert, I’m so perv that I’m asexual.
If it really concerns you that much then I promise you I won’t hurt Violet
physically, mentally or emotionally. Now can you stop beating my *** up about
crap so we can talk seriously?”
