Married to My High School Enemy

Chapter 1: Engaged To The Devil

Introduction

I never thought my life would turn into a nightmare—no, scratch that, a comedy-filled disaster.

One moment, I was just an ordinary high school girl, plotting the perfect revenge against Damon Sinclair—the rich, arrogant heir of the Sinclair family who humiliated me three years ago. The next? I was standing in a grand wedding hall, dressed in white, with a contract marriage in my hands and my worst enemy as my husband.

How did it come to this?

Damon Sinclair—the school’s cold-hearted prince, the guy every girl drools over—was now my legal husband. Not by choice, of course. Our parents decided this was a "brilliant solution" to settle a family debt.

Now, I have to survive living under the same roof as him, endure his smug smirks, and resist the stupidly handsome face that makes my life ten times harder.

I swore I’d make him pay for what he did to me. But what happens when revenge gets complicated… and my heart starts betraying me?

Welcome to my life. A life where I’m… Married to My High School Enemy.

Chapter 1: Engaged to the Devil

Ava Carter never believed in fairy tales. She wasn’t the type of girl who dreamt of knights in shining armor or happily ever afters. But if she had to imagine the worst possible nightmare?

It would be this.

"YOU'RE WHAT?!"

Ava winced and pulled the phone away from her ear as her best friend, Lily, practically screamed through the speaker.

"Not so loud," Ava groaned. "I already have a headache."

"How can I not scream?!" Lily shrieked. "You’re marrying Damon Sinclair. Damon freaking Sinclair! The guy you hate more than math class! The same guy you swore you’d destroy!"

Ava flopped onto her bed and let out a heavy sigh. "Trust me, I didn’t choose this. My dad got into debt with Damon’s family. They’re forcing me to marry him to ‘settle things peacefully.’" She let out a bitter laugh. "Peacefully, my ass."

Lily was silent for a moment before whispering, "So… you’re actually becoming Mrs. Sinclair?"

Ava sat up, eyes blazing. "Temporarily."

Lily snorted. "How long?"

"One year. That’s what the contract says. Then I’m free."

Lily hummed in thought. "That’s not so bad. You could survive a year."

Ava clenched her fists. "Survive? Lily, this is Damon Sinclair we’re talking about. The rich, arrogant, cold-hearted devil of Sinclair High. The same guy who humiliated me three years ago!"

Lily sighed. "Oh no. You’re still holding onto that, aren’t you?"

"Damn right, I am!" Ava fumed. "This is fate handing me the perfect opportunity. I’m going to make Damon’s life miserable."

Lily gasped dramatically. "Ooooh. Operation Revenge on My Husband?"

"Exactly." Ava smirked.

---

Meanwhile…

Damon Sinclair sat on the couch, scrolling through his phone, unfazed by the chaos his engagement had caused online.

Ryan, his best friend, on the other hand, was not as calm.

"This is gold," Ryan wheezed. "You? Engaged? And not just to anyone—Ava Carter?! The girl who dumped a slushie on your head?!"

Damon exhaled sharply, unfazed. "I told you, my parents are making me do it. It’s either marry her or deal with a bigger mess."

Ryan finally stopped laughing. "Damn. And here I thought nothing could break the great Damon Sinclair."

Damon leaned back in his chair, his face unreadable. "Please. She’s just another problem to deal with."

Ryan snickered. "You do realize she’s going to make your life hell, right?"

Damon smirked. "Let her try."

---

Later That Night…

Ava stared at her phone, debating whether or not to text him. She wanted to ignore this whole thing. Pretend it wasn’t happening. But she needed to let him know one thing.

Her fingers flew over the keyboard.

Ava: Enjoy your last day of peace, Sinclair.

The reply came instantly.

Damon: Oh? Should I be scared?

Ava grinned.

Ava: You should be terrified.

Chapter 2: The Wedding from Hell

Ava Carter had always imagined her wedding day would be special. Not that she was the type to dream of fairy-tale endings, but if she had to get married, she at least wanted to choose who she was stuck with.

Instead, here she was, standing in front of a mirror in an expensive bridal suite, wearing a wedding dress she didn't pick, about to marry the one person she despised the most.

"I look like a marshmallow." Ava muttered, tugging at the layers of lace and tulle.

"Girl, you look stunning," Lily said, leaning against the vanity. "Like a rich, classy marshmallow."

Ava shot her a glare. "Not helping, Lils."

Lily grinned. "Sorry, sorry. But seriously, you’re pulling off ‘gorgeous but deadly’ vibes right now. Damon won’t know what hit him."

Ava scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Damon doesn’t care about anything. He’s probably not even stressed about this."

Lily smirked. "Actually…" She pulled out her phone and turned the screen toward Ava.

Ava’s jaw dropped. On the screen was a live stream of the wedding venue, showing Damon standing at the altar. And he actually looked… pissed.

His sharp jaw was clenched, his hands shoved into his suit pockets, and his usually calm, unreadable face? Yeah, he looked like he was one second away from setting something on fire.

"Is he… mad?" Ava asked, stunned.

Lily chuckled. "He’s probably just as miserable as you."

Ava’s lips curled into a smirk. "Good."

---

At the Altar…

Damon Sinclair had endured a lot of ridiculous things in his life. But this? This was something else.

He adjusted his tie, sighing as he ignored the whispers from the wedding guests.

"Poor guy."

"She’s so beneath him."

"They hate each other! How is this even happening?"

Damon rolled his eyes. Of course, people were talking. Sinclair High’s golden boy, the school’s untouchable prince, forced into marriage? Yeah, this was the gossip of the century.

Ryan nudged him from the side. "Dude, your bride is trending on social media. #SinclairMarriageDisaster is literally blowing up."

Damon groaned. "Fantastic."

Ryan laughed. "C’mon, man. Could be worse."

Damon shot him a glare. "Name one way this could be worse."

Ryan smirked. "She could leave you at the altar."

Damon opened his mouth to reply—only for the wedding doors to burst open.

And there she was.

Ava Carter.

Walking down the aisle like she was marching into battle.

Her white dress should have made her look angelic, innocent. But the glare in her eyes? The confident, almost defiant smirk on her lips?

She looked like a queen about to ruin someone’s life.

Damon had never been afraid of anything before.

But something about that look in Ava’s eyes?

Yeah. Maybe Ryan was right.

This was going to be worse.

---

The Vows from Hell

The ceremony felt like an eternity.

"Do you, Damon Sinclair, take Ava Carter to be your lawfully wedded wife—"

"I do," Damon said flatly, cutting the priest off.

Ava rolled her eyes. So impatient.

"And do you, Ava Carter, take Damon Sinclair—"

"Not really," Ava said sweetly.

A collective gasp echoed through the venue.

The priest stuttered. "I—um, I—"

Damon turned to Ava, raising an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

Ava smirked. "Oh, I mean… I do."

Lily snorted in the audience. Ryan barely hid his laughter.

Damon sighed. "You’re going to make this hell, aren’t you?"

Ava grinned. "Oh, you have no idea."

The priest cleared his throat awkwardly. "Uh… you may now kiss the bride."

Ava stiffened. Oh. Right. The kiss.

Damon turned to her with a smirk. "Relax, Mrs. Sinclair. I won’t bite."

Ava narrowed her eyes. "Too bad. I might."

Damon chuckled, then leaned in.

And just as their lips were about to touch—

Ava turned her head.

And Damon Sinclair ended up kissing her cheek.

Gasps filled the air. Someone even screamed.

Damon slowly pulled back, eyes dark. "Seriously?"

Ava smiled sweetly. "Oops."

Ryan burst out laughing. Lily was practically falling off her chair.

Damon exhaled sharply. "You’re impossible."

"And you’re stuck with me," Ava shot back.

Oh yeah.

This was going to be one hell of a marriage.

Chapter 3: Welcome to Hell, Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair

Ava Carter had imagined many horrible ways her life could go.

But being married to Damon Sinclair?

Yeah, that topped the list.

---

The Sinclair Mansion

Ava stood in front of the grand Sinclair estate, staring up at the massive, intimidating mansion that looked straight out of a billionaire drama. The place was too big, too fancy, and way too ridiculous for one family.

Her suitcase sat beside her, untouched.

Lily had dropped her off and ran before Ava could even blink. Coward.

"Wow," she muttered, crossing her arms. "It’s even uglier in person."

"Careful, Carter," came a smooth voice from behind her. "You wouldn’t want to insult your new home."

Ava turned to see Damon stepping out of a sleek black car, his hands in his pockets, looking as annoyingly perfect as ever in his expensive suit. His dark hair was slightly tousled, and those sharp blue eyes of his held their usual mix of amusement and arrogance.

"New home? More like my personal prison." Ava rolled her eyes. "Do I get my own dungeon, or do I just sleep in the backyard?"

Damon smirked. "Tempting. But unfortunately, wifey, we have to share a room."

Ava froze. "What?"

Damon sighed dramatically. "Blame my parents. They want us to ‘bond’ as a real married couple."

"That’s insane!" Ava sputtered. "There are literally a hundred rooms in this stupid mansion. I refuse to share a room with you!"

Damon smirked. "Fine. Sleep outside."

Ava growled. "You are insufferable."

"And you’re stuck with me, Mrs. Sinclair."

Ava ignored the weird way her stomach flipped at hearing that name. Instead, she grabbed her suitcase and stormed past him.

Damon chuckled, following her inside.

Yeah.

This was going to be fun.

---

Their First Night as a ‘Married Couple’

Ava stared at the massive bedroom she was forced to share with Damon.

It was modern and sleek, with a king-sized bed in the center, black and gold accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlooked the city.

The problem?

One bed.

Ava turned to Damon, who was already loosening his tie, acting like he owned the place.

"Listen up, Sinclair," she said, crossing her arms. "There is no way we are sleeping in the same bed."

Damon smirked. "Relax, Carter. I’m not desperate enough to touch you."

Ava scowled. "Good. Then you can sleep on the floor."

Damon laughed. "Me? Sleep on the floor?"

"Yeah. The gentlemanly thing to do."

Damon snorted. "Yeah, no. If anyone’s sleeping on the floor, it’s you."

Ava huffed, grabbing a pillow. "Fine. I’ll take the couch."

Damon smirked. "Good girl."

Ava glared at him before storming to the couch on the far side of the room. She curled up, hugging the pillow, trying to ignore the fact that she was technically in the same room as her worst enemy.

It was going to be a long night.

---

Meanwhile…

Damon lay in bed, one arm resting behind his head as he watched Ava shift uncomfortably on the couch.

"Having trouble, wifey?" he teased.

"Shut up, Sinclair," Ava muttered.

Damon chuckled. "You do realize you’re the first woman to ever reject sharing a bed with me?"

Ava snorted. "Yeah, well, congratulations. I’m also the first woman to not be impressed by your money, your face, or your stupid charm."

Damon smirked. "Stupid? I think you mean irresistible."

Ava threw a pillow at him. "Go to sleep, Damon!"

Damon just laughed, catching the pillow with ease.

Oh yeah.

This was going to be fun.

---

Morning Chaos

Ava groaned as she woke up, stretching.

Wait.

Why was she so… comfortable?

Her eyes fluttered open—only to realize she was not on the couch.

She was in the bed.

With Damon’s arm draped over her waist.

Ava froze.

Damon shifted slightly, his breath warm against her neck. "Mmm… Carter, stop staring. It’s creepy."

Ava let out a scream and shoved him off the bed.

THUMP!

Damon groaned from the floor. "What the hell, Ava?!"

Ava grabbed a pillow and started whacking him. "Why was I in the bed?!"

Damon blocked her attacks, yawning. "You were sleepwalking, Mrs. Sinclair."

Ava gasped. "I do not sleepwalk!"

Damon smirked. "Then how else did you end up cuddling me?"

Ava turned red. "I—YOU—UGH!" She threw the pillow at his face and stormed toward the bathroom.

Damon just lay back on the floor, laughing.

Married life was definitely going to be interesting.
