As Rajkumaari Nazina walked through the grand hall, the rich scent of sandalwood incense filled the air, blending with the soft clink of her anklets. The high arches of the palace hall stretched majestically above her, the golden chandeliers shimmering as the courtiers and nobles, dressed in their finest silks, turned to observe her arrival. The grandeur of the room was matched only by the stillness of the onlookers, who silently acknowledged her presence.
Her Senapati followed a few steps behind, while her maids moved in perfect synchrony, their eyes lowered, a quiet hum of activity surrounding them.
At the far end of the hall, Maharaj Rajveer sat upon his throne, regal in his deep purple and gold attire. His gaze met that of his daughter, and with a slight but respectful nod, he motioned for her to come closer.
Nazina moved forward, her posture upright, her head held high. When she reached the base of the elevated throne, she stopped. With a graceful movement, she bent forward slightly in a formal bow, her saree flowing around her in a cascade of crimson and gold. “Jai Rajputana, Maharaj,” she said, her voice steady and composed.
“Jai Rajputana, Rajkumaari,” Maharaj Rajveer replied, his voice strong and steady. He gestured to a plush, golden seat beside him, raised on a platform but slightly to the side of the throne, symbolizing her presence as his esteemed daughter, yet maintaining a clear distinction in rank.
Nazina stepped forward and took her seat with ease, her posture straight and proud. The seat, not beside her father but to his right-hand side, was not a place of subjugation, but one of honor and duty. She sat with grace, folding her hands neatly on her lap, her gaze forward, awaiting the unfolding of the proceedings. Her maids and the Senapati took their places in the back, their presence barely noticeable as they remained respectfully behind her.
Across the room, Prince Vikram of Keshavgarh stood, dressed in deep blue and gold, his regal attire commanding attention. His tall frame and sharp gaze made him stand out among the other courtiers, yet his manner was calm and composed. The prince’s eyes met Nazina’s, and there was a brief but meaningful moment of acknowledgment.
Prince Vikram bowed slightly toward her, his tone rich and respectful. “Rajkumaari Nazina, it is an honor to meet the illustrious princess of Rajputana.”
Nazina gave a small nod in return, her expression neutral, as she regarded him. “The honor is mine, Prince Vikram of Keshavgarh,” she said, her voice unwavering. Her gaze shifted for a moment to her father before returning to the prince, her thoughts unreadable.
Behind Prince Vikram stood his entourage, their eyes scanning the room, but it was clear that the prince was the center of attention. Despite the whispered murmurs of the courtiers, the princess remained still, her thoughts as quiet as the palace walls.
Maharaj Rajveer finally broke the silence, his voice booming through the hall. “Vikram, I trust your journey has been a smooth one. We have much to discuss, but first, let us enjoy a meal together and speak of matters more pleasant.”
Prince Vikram nodded respectfully, his gaze once again flicking briefly toward Nazina before returning to the Maharaj. “Indeed, Maharaj. I look forward to our discussions.”
Nazina remained in her designated seat, her posture impeccable, as the court around her continued its quiet hum. She had seen many princes, dignitaries, and visitors, and while she acknowledged the importance of their presence, her thoughts remained centered on her duty and the matters at hand.
