Sofia, a beautiful 24-year-old girl with fair brown skin, large black eyes, and a height of 1.58 meters. Her dark, tousled hair framed her thick lips.
She was a single mother to two gorgeous children, Cesar and Sarah, both 5 years old.
When Sofia was 18, she met a 19-year-old boy named Fernando Monte Mayor.
A handsome young man with fair skin, green eyes, and full lips, he stood tall at 1.80 meters. He came from a powerful, aristocratic family.
His parents owned some of the most important businesses worldwide. Fernando Monte Mayor was an only child.
He was the son of Clemencia and Jose Monte Mayor, while Sofia was the daughter of a single mother who fought every day to provide her daughter with a hot meal.
Sarah, the name of Sofia's mother, worked as a domestic employee for Fernando's family.
She was entirely unaware that her daughter was involved with her employers' son. Otherwise, she would never have allowed her daughter to set her sights on a boy who was not in her social class.
Dreaming was enchanting, but reality was different. Their social classes were vastly different. Sofia was a humble, dream-filled girl who believed anything was possible.
On the other hand, Fernando Monte Mayor was a boy with a bright future, ambitious, and with clear goals in life.
Educated to choose a woman who shared his wealth, a woman to accompany him on his journey, someone from his own social class.
Upon meeting Sofia, Fernando was captivated by her beauty, her character, her mannerisms, completely forgetting what his mother had drilled into him for years.
In secret, Sofia began a relationship with the son of the family where her mother worked.
…"Will you be my girlfriend?"…
When Sofia heard Fernando's words, she thought she would be happy forever.
A few months later, Sofia gave herself to Fernando and became pregnant. Fernando's family found out and forced her to leave the country.
…”If you don’t abort and you leave the country, your mother will go to jail for theft”…
…”It goes without saying that Fernando must never know”…
…”Please, ma'am, don’t be cruel; the child in my womb carries your blood”…
Clemencia slapped Sofia. She hated being reminded that the child in her womb was a Monte Mayor.
…”Bastards in my family. No, young lady”…
…”What did you think? That I would get pregnant by the only son of the Monte Mayors and become the lady, taking my mother out of work so we can live like queens?”…
…”NO, princess, you’ve mistaken your place; you will abort and leave the country. Otherwise, your mother will go to jail for theft”…
…”You’re heartless!”…
…”Why should I have a heart for a tramp who has done everything to become Mrs. Monte Mayor?”…
…”Girls like you, young lady, deserve to be treated how we see fit”…
…”Nobody forced you to sleep with my son, did they?”…
…”Of course not, I did it for love!” __ confessed Sofia through tears…
…”You see, now for the love of your mother, you are going to the clinic and you will have that child removed”…
…”Please, I beg you, don’t make me abort. I will go far away with my child and never come back”…
…”Do you think I’m an idiot? __ Clemencia grabbed the girl by the neck…
…”A child will always be a strong bond between you and my son; it’s a bond I will never allow”…
…”Take that bastard to the clinic; let Tomas take care of removing the bastard” __ Clemencia ordered her chauffeur…
The man, having no other option, took the girl away in secret. However, he didn’t have the heart to take her to the clinic.
He let the girl leave the country and never return. Months later, alone in a distant land, Sofia gave birth to the child of her beloved Fernando.
Upon her child's birth, she realized that all this time she had been unaware she was expecting twins: a beautiful girl and a boy.
…”They are so beautiful”…
Susana was the only one who offered her hand when she saw her helpless. Since then, she helped her find a job and a place to live.
…”Yes, they are very beautiful” __ Sofia kissed each of her children.
..."What name are you going to give them?" ____ Susana glanced at the babies in her friend's arms...
..."Sarah and Cesar"...
..."I wanted to name him Fernando, but instead, I will choose my grandfather's name"...
..."You were so sure about naming him Fernando\, why did you change your mind?" ____ Susana asked...
..."Yes, but I was certain that Fernando is a name that will always remind me of my children's father"...
..."That sounds good to me" ____ Susana's greatest wish was that bad memories would not follow her friend...
Days later, Sofia was discharged from the hospital. For several days and nights, Sofia stayed awake. The two babies kept her from sleeping.
Being a single mother at such a young age and feeling completely alone without anyone to rely on was one of the hardest stages for her.
Five years passed this way. The twins grew, and Sofia became a well-known model in the city.
Fernando, confused, searched for Sofia for months. Until one day, without any prior warning, he received some photos that clearly showed Sofia in a relationship with another guy.
It shattered his heart. The girl he thought was different turned out to be the worst of all. Her untarnished image and good girl persona were stained by the pictures.
The days passed, Clemencia never tired of throwing Fernando's mistake with the maid's daughter in his face.
The boy looked out the window of his room. His gaze no longer had life; it died when he saw the photos of Sofia in bed with another boy.
..."I always told you that a little girl who isn't of our class isn't a woman for you"...
..."It's been 5 years and you were still looking for that woman. What did she give you? To drive you crazy for her....
..."You don't understand and you never will" ____ Fernando interrupts his mother....
..."Your father died two years ago, and as heir, you must marry a woman of your same class. That's why I've already chosen a wife for you. Her name is Patricia....
..."Only daughter of a multimillionaire and a former model. You know who I'm talking about, right?"...
..."I won't marry anyone unless I want to"____ Fernando replied confidently....
Clemencia does not give up; with Patricia's help, they set a trap for Fernando. They drug him and make him believe he slept with her.
Furious, Patricia's father forces Fernando to take responsibility for his daughter, assuring that she was a virgin when she slept with him.
Tired of everything, Fernando agrees to get engaged to Patricia. The girl was beautiful, with intense red hair, white skin, and pink lips.
The wedding would take place in 6 months. Patricia was considered the luckiest girl, since, for years, no woman had managed to make Fernando Monte Mayor fall in love.
After 5 years away from the city where she was born, Sofia receives a job offer, which she cannot refuse.
It is an offer with which she will give her children a decent life.
She packs her things to return to the city where she was born and grew up, fell in love, and was very happy until it lasted.
In the master bedroom, two twin children played on their mother's bed. Like every night, they pretended to convince their mother to let them sleep with her.
"My love, get off the bed right now." Sofia ordered her son Cesar.
"Mommy, give me a few more minutes." The little one exclaims from above the bed.
"I'll give you two seconds; if you don't get down, there will be no french fries." Upon hearing her mother, the little one got off the bed.
He ran to his sister's side, who was reading a book.
"Sarah, you are very intelligent." Cesar praises his sister and kisses her on the cheek.
"Cesar, you should be like me... You are already 5 years old and you can't read." Sarah raises her head proudly.
"I will be a model like mommy... I will be able to buy things so expensive that." Cesar doesn't finish speaking when he feels his sister's hand on his mouth.
"You are not even a little cute... You are ugly!"
"You are cruel, Sarah." Cesar moves away from his sister and runs to his mother's side.
"Mommy, where are we going?" Cesar asked his mother with a tender voice.
"To see your grandmother... I think she will be happy to meet you." Sofia replies while packing her son's luggage.
"Mommy, why can't grandma come to see us?" Sarah questioned.
Sofia didn't know how to explain to her children that their grandmother couldn't travel because their father's family hated them and kept her working for them, as insurance that she would never return.
"Sarah, I don't know where you get so many questions, my love. You are so small and so curious." Sofia kisses her daughter on the forehead.
"Mommy, I am smarter than Cesar. He is very silly." The girl pointed to her brother who was playing with his mother's hair.
"I'm not silly. I observe people, I know how they act, and what their weaknesses are... For example, your weakness is the doll that I just threw out the apartment window."
"What have you done what?!"
Sarah moved away from her mother and ran to the bedroom window. Looking down.
"Sarah, you are very clumsy; if you looked in your arms, you would realize that I have deceived you."
The girl lowered her gaze, observing the doll in her arms.
"Cesar, how can you do that?"
"Your weakness is my strength. You must be intelligent, sister."
Sofia said nothing, she only observed that scene, proving that Cesar was a very intelligent child, who didn't seem to be 5 years old.
"Ok, this is over."
"Cesar, honey, finish packing your luggage. You know how it should be arranged."
"Sarah, go to your room and arrange each of your dresses in the suitcase. Ask Susana to help you with that."
"Mommy, Susana went shopping. Have you forgotten?"
Sofia raises one of her eyebrows. It was impossible to dominate two super intelligent children. She needed urgent help.
"Okay."
"We are going to pack Cesar's suitcase, then we will continue with yours, and then we will all do mine. Do you agree?"
The three made the first suitcase, then they arranged the second luggage. When it was Sofia's turn, the children pretended to be exhausted.
"Mommy, I can't anymore. I'm going to bed."
"Me too, Mommy." Cesar added, listening to his sister.
The two children went to their mother's huge bed; in a short time, they were sound asleep.
Sofia arranged all the luggage; she helped Susana make breakfast.
Meanwhile, in another part of the world. A man carefully reviewed the most important documents of the Monte Mayor companies.
"Young Monte Mayor, your fiancee Zorrilla is outside." Fernando Monte Mayor's secretary informs him.
"Patricia Zorrilla is here?"
"Yes, sir." The secretary confirms.
"Let her in."
The girl follows Fernando's orders, turns around, and lets Patricia Zorrilla pass.
"Hello, my darling. I have brought you something for breakfast."
Fernando stands up when he sees his fiancee approaching. He greets her with a curt kiss on the lips.
"Hello, Pato. You shouldn't have bothered to bring me breakfast. There's a food company that brings it to me every day."
"Fer, you know I don't like you calling me Pato. It sounds so tacky." The red-haired girl feigns annoyance.
"Okay, Patricia." Fernando responds curtly.
"Take a seat." Fernando adds.
Like a true gentleman, he pulls the chair next to him out so Patricia can sit down. The girl refuses to sit, placing her hand on top of her fiance's.
"But if you prefer, we can move on to dessert." The girl wraps her hands around Fernando's neck.
She tries to kiss him, but Fernando dodges her. She is annoyed, although she knows how to hide it perfectly.
"Our marriage will only be in name. There will be no sex, or anything similar. We have discussed it on other occasions and you have agreed."
Annoyed by how Fernando speaks to her, Patricia moves away from him. Trying to control the urge to tell him that everything will change when she becomes his wife.
When she becomes Mrs. Monte Mayor, she will stop pretending to be nice to Fernando. She will know that as a husband he must fulfill his marital obligations.
She wants to get pregnant as soon as possible, only then will her name as Mrs. Monte Mayor remain forever.
"In public, I will be your wife, although I would like us to be so inside our home as well."
"I would like us to have a couple of children. To see them grow, play, and above all, to see them laugh."
"Can you imagine a little version of you or me!"
"They will be beautiful, don't you think? I know you don't love me. But with time and coexistence, love can be born between you and me." With a melancholic voice, Patricia begged Fernando Monte Mayor.
Fernando frowns, he had discussed it with Patricia before. She agreed that their marriage would only be an appearance, for a year, then each would take different paths.
"I'm sorry, Patricia, but I don't love you. I don't think I ever will. My heart belongs to another woman."
"I have fought not to love her, but it is impossible." He replies seriously.
Patricia's eyes welled up, her tears falling one after another.
"You are being too cruel to me and to yourself in loving a woman who only wanted you for your last name." She exclaimed in a low voice, between sobs.
Fernando didn't have the heart to see the girl cry. He approaches Patricia and hugs her.
That was what she wanted. To look fragile in Fernando's eyes.
Every man liked to protect a fragile and defenseless woman. Fernando was no exception. A man always likes to play the superhero in the eyes of a lady.
"Fer, I love you madly. Many times I have dreamed of seeing you wake up next to me."
The girl wraps her hands around Fernando's neck, trying to kiss his lips for the second time.
"I think you should go see your psychologist. You can't feel love for a man you slept with one night."
"Well, if you even slept together." Fernando whispered, hinting that he didn't believe he had had sex with Patricia.
"To fall in love, you need time, to get to know the person, to treat them, and above all, to know their darkest side. After all that, you can say you love them." Fernando added.
"Are you calling me crazy?!" Patricia angrily asked Fernando.
"We are no longer teenagers, we are adults, with certain experiences. Don't come telling me it was love at first sight. I don't believe in that." Fernando added seriously.
"Fer... You can't humiliate me like this. Believe it or not, I love you. I love you!" Patricia insisted.
"We talked about this from the beginning. I can't love you the way you want. If you don't want us to get married, it's perfect for me. I'm calling off the wedding today." Fernando commented in a low voice.
...
...No, my love!...
..."I am Patricia Zorrilla, the only daughter of a powerful man, no macho like you is going to leave me before my wedding"...
Patricia moved away from Fernando, placing her hands between the two of them. Pretending to be hurt by him.
"I spoke with my mother about the dress I want to wear for our civil wedding. They have insisted too much that we should get married in the Church." She changes the subject abruptly.
"I have told them that not for the moment. Even so, they insist on talking to your mother and I think we should think about the possibility of also getting married in the church."
Patricia naively thought that she could pressure Fernando in that way to give in to getting married in the church as well.
She had always longed to enter the church on her father's arm, and see the envious looks of all her friends.
"This marriage is not going to work... I don't feel love for you."
"Besides, I don't remember how I ended up in the same bed as you." Fernando didn't remember anything from the night he supposedly slept with Patricia.
He only remembers going to a nightclub to drink a glass of wine, when he woke up, he was already in the same bed as Patricia.
"Fernando, you offend me!"
"What there was between you and me was magical. An unforgettable night for me and for you."
Patricia cries again with more intensity. Seeing her like that, Fernando walked away from her, walking to the office window.
Out of nowhere, Fernando remembers the girl he fell in love with five years ago. Sofia was so different from any other woman, her rebellious character, her way of speaking, and above all her beautiful smile.
Unfortunately, the bad memories ended the smile and the beautiful memories in Fernando's mind.
