"The summer break is almost over; I can't wait to go back to school." Alex said sarcastically.

"Well it was gonna end eventually, as the say nothing lasts forever." Josh answered

Alex stood up and headed to the kitchen to get a glass of water. He was dreading the day he would have to enter those stupid halls and see all the people he despised.

"Hey dude, get a bag of chips while you're  in there. " shouted Josh who was still in the other room. Alex sighed and grabbed the chips from the cupboard. He went back into the living room; he had been playing Mario carts with Josh, his childhood best friend.

Alex threw the bag of chips at Josh at Josh and plopped down onto the couch next to him. "I heard there'll be new kids this semester. I heard they're super hot, maybe I'll get a new girlfriend." Josh said suggestively.

"Is girls and food all you think about? Get a life man." Alex said obviously trying to annoy Josh.

"Shut up you don't know nothing, I bet you can't be me in this next round." Josh exclaimed. " Oh you're on!"

The next day Alex woke up with a throbbing headache. He got out of bed and washed his face wetting his golden blonde hair. " Today is the first day of a new semester. It won't be bad right?" Alex sighed and got ready for school.

He went downstairs and was greeted by his cute three year old sister. She was wearing a pink polka dot dress and her dirty blonde hair was tied up into pig tails.

"Jamie" Alex said, picking the tiny person off the ground and into his arms. "Good morning hunny" his mother said behind the kitchen counter.

"Mornin mum, breakfast smells delicious." Alex put his sister down on the chair beside his and their mum served breakfast " Your father said not to cause any trouble at school today."

" Yeah, yeah I know mum, I won't." Alex replied " anyways gotta go, gonna be late for school." He kissed Jamie not the cheek and his mum on the forehead and was out the door.

Alex walked into the school building and was greeted by the usual sight of grey lockers and the smell of sweat. "Might be a new semester but nothings changed. He walked into the classroom and took his usual seat near the window. He stared out onto the courtyard where it was littered with students.

" Hey Alex, seems like we're in the same class this year." Came a female voice behind him. Alex sighed and felt and arm wrap around his. It was Jennifer, the leader of the cheerleaders.

"I see you've been keeping great shape over the holidays huh?" She said as she ran her hand up and down his toned bicep. "Let go of me, I'm not interested." Alex said coldly

"Oh come on Alex, a cheerleader and the hottest guy in school is a match made in heaven." Jennifer insisted. " Why don't you date the quarter back, that's a way better match." He answered sarcasm coating his words.

"You're going to  regret this Alex." She said before walking away. Alex sighed "Great way to start the semester." The bell eventually rang and the teacher entered the Class. Behind him were three faces he's never seen before.  They all had pale skin and were  wearing dark clothing.

Two of them were females and one was male. " These must be the new guys Josh was talking about." Alex thought

"Meyers, you'll be showing them around." Alex let out a quiet sigh; he was already having a bad start to the day, the last thing he wanted was to show some new kids around. " Yes sir" Alex mumbled.

"Ok so there's a free seat next to Alex, you can go sit over there." The teacher pointed out. Alex just faced down hoping the day would end soon. He heard someone sit down next to him and he lifted  his head slightly. It was the male, Alex was kinda hoping to sit by one of the girls.

The person seated next to Alex had straight snow white hair and pale skin. Alex wondered if it was his natural coloured hair or not

"Ok class; get out you text books." The teacher ordered.

The lesson was long and boring, and Alex was you all his willpower to stay awake. He couldn't keep his eyes open and most of the class were asleep. Alex looked over to the person beside him and noticed that he seemed to be concentrating on the lesson.

"He can't be human if he's able to get through this lecture without even yawning." Alex thought.

The bell eventually rang after what felt like hours and everyone poured out of class, soon after the halls were filled with people. Josh came our of the Class next to Alex's.

" Hey dude, you're so lucky you had two babes to join your class." Josh sighed " All we got were four overly attractive guys to steal all the ladies."

Before Alex could give out a sarcastic remark, he was interrupted rudely by a scarlet haired girl. She was one of the new kids.

" Excuse me but your supposed to show us to our lockers." She said rudely.

This annoyed Alex because no one dares to disrespect Alex. If it wasn't for Josh's reassuring hand on his shoulder he would have given her a piece of his mind.

He showed the three to their lockers. " I'm Alex, if you need anything at all just ask." He tried to say it as politely as he could. "Thank yu very much; we're in your care." Came  a quiet voice. It was the other girl, she had black silky hair and looked quite shy. Alex didn't expect she would say anything.

He just smiled and walked away. The bell for the next class eventually rang. Alex took his seat, he noticed four more new faces. Josh came plopping down in the seat next to Alex.

"Hey man are these the guys you were talking about?" Alex whispered. Josh looked around and answered " Yeah man, those are the buttfaces that have been getting all the girls' attention."

Just like the other three, these guys were pale and wearing black as well. " Whats up with these be kids this semester." Alex thought.

The next day Alex was walking down the school hallway when he noticed the new kids. Seven of them were standing toghether and he swore the looked like they came out of a magazine. All of them had pale and flawless skin; all of them had black hair except the scarlet and the the white haired.

As Alex walked over to his locker that was just near the group they suddenly stopped talking and threw Alex cold stares. Alex felt very uncomfortable.

Alex quickly got his books and met up with Josh who was coming from a nearby classroom. "Dang those new kids are freaky man." Alex said still agitated.

" Yeah, Jennifer tried to approach one of those guys but was completely ignored."

They give off this really weird vibe.

"Especially the guy with the white hair." Josh continued. He looked around then whispered to Alex " I heard they're all ghosts."

Alex just shoved Josh away. " That's stupid; this isn't some movie. Get those fantasies out of your head." For a split second Alex looked back at them. Maybe they are...? No that's ridiculous ghosts don't even exist.

"Anyways with that aside, wanna go play some video games after school?" Josh asked brushing the topic aside. " Can't, gotta pick Jamie up from school."

The bell for lunch rang and within moments the cafeteria was filled. " Today they are serving pizza." Josh said with his mouth watering just at the though of it.

They both got their lunches and took a seat on the tables. "Man those new kids are kinda weird, I never see them eating any actual food. They're always drinking tomato juice, disgusting." Josh said looking the group.

"Maybe they're zombies." Josh said teasingly, obviously trying to make a bad joke. Alex just had about enough of Josh's nonsense, he just stood up and walked away.

"Hey, Alex don't leave me!"

Alex was now walking outside when he heard a dog whimper. He followed the sound and found the dog, in a pool of blood and right next to it was one of the new kids. His clothes had blood all over them and his mouth was covered in blood as well.

Alex was horrified, he felt like throwing up just looking at the scene in front of him. He quickly left the scene before the person could notice him.

What's going on? Why was he covered in blood? Alex felt his chest tighten and his breath quicken. Alex felt his body bump into something, when he looked up he saw a pair of Amber gold eyes staring at him from under snow white hair.

Alex was now clutching onto his chest and the air around him grew thick. Alex felt over whelming pressure coming from the person in front him. "U-uh sorry." Alex said his voice now shaky. He tried to leave but suddenly felt drowsy, then everything turned dark.

Alex woke up to the worried expression on Josh's face. Alex sat up and scanned the room "Where am I?" He asked scratching the back of his head.

"We're in the nurse's office; you had an asthma attack and fainted behind the school. If it wasn't for some white haired dude bringing you here who knows what would have happened." Alex just smiled but couldn't help but remember what he saw.

Is he a zombie, are the others zombies as well. That would be the only reasonable explanation.

Those questions played in Alex's head like a song on repeat. Should I tell Josh about it? Alex felt conflicted.

"Anyways I feel fine now so I think I can go back to class." Josh looked at him, his expression filled with worry " Are you sure you ok, you can rest here if you still feel a bit weak." Josh said worry coating his words.

Alex nodded with a smile. " Enough you're scaring me now; I'm not used to this side of you." Alex said with a pity expression. They both burst into laughter and Alex got up " See I'm completely fine so stop worrying about me mum" Josh just stuck his tongue out like a little kid in response.

They both returned to class and the first thing Alex noticed when he entered the classroom was his so called 'saviour' sitting on the desk beside his. He was so mysterious to the point that it bugged Alex.

He took his seat and turned to the mysterious person beside him " I might as well get to know him right?" He thought

"Hey, thanks for helping me out earlier, really appreciate it. The person just nodded and turned back to their book. Alex kinda felt kinda annoyed, but he kind of expected it.

"I'm Alex by the way, nice to meet You. Alex said with a cold smile. He just looked at Alex  with an expressionless and unreadable expression. Alex was losing all hope with communicating with this guy

"I'm Xavier."

Alex was surprised that he answered, he was also taken aback by his deep and husky voice. Now that Alex thought about it Xavier was quite attractive. His white hair that rested just above a pair of amber gold eyes, a tall and muscular body that towered over Alex.

Alex suddenly snapped out of his thoughts when realized that he was now drooling over him. Then they made eye contact, Alex quickly looked away feeling embarrassed that he was staring at another male like that.

What is wrong with you Alex, how could you admire another male so much to the point that you start to stare.

Alex started to analyse the three and they all had distinguishing features that separated them from everyone else. For starters they all had pale skin. Not saying that pale skin was new but their skin was almost white. Did they have no melanin at all?

The more Alex thought about it the more he believed that they were not human; as for them being vampires was way ahead of him. All he wanted was to forget about all the events that happened and Live normally

What Alex didn't know was that his life would never be the same again.

Alex pulled up in front of Jamie’s school. He waited a solid 10 minutes before the bell rang and a ton of little children came flooding out of the school doors.

Jamie came flying out into Alex’s arms. “Hey how was school today little chipmunk?” Alex asked picking Jamie up. “It was amazing, I drew a picture, look it’s me, you, mummy and daddy.”

“Wow this looks amazing; I bet you’ll be an amazing artist when you grow up.” Alex said placing her in the backseat of his car. “NO, I’m gonna be a pretty ballerina.” Alex just chuckled “My bad, I bet you’ll be the prettiest ballerina ever. Alex Turned the radio on and the two sang to the songs that they knew.

“We’re home.” Alex said as he parked the car on the driveway. Jamie jumped out of the car and burst through the front door. “We’re home!” She then rushed into her mums arms that we’re wide open “Welcome home.” Her mm said chuckling as Jamie kissed her on the cheek.

“Hey mum.” Alex said as he walked through the door. All of a sudden Alex felt someone tackle him from behind “Daddy!” Jamie quickly ran into the arms of her father while Alex was still trying to process what was going on. “How are my little bean sprouts doing.” He said as he ruffled Alex’s hair.

“What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Alex said still very confused. “Well today we were let out early and I thought I would spend some time with my family.”

Even though Alex didn’t want to admit it, he was really happy because he could barely spend time with his dad that was always too busy with work.

He set Jamie down and gave his wife a very passionate kiss which made Alex cringe. “Ewww that’s so disgusting.” Jamie said as she covered her eyes with her tiny hands. They all just laughed as the she pretended to throw up.

“Everyone get ready, we’re gonna buy some ice cream. Jamie was beaming with excitement as she jumped up and down. She then grabbed  Alex’s arm “Help me get ready; I want to look super pretty.”

“So what do you want to wear?” Alex said as he sat on the pink coverers that were on the small bed. Jamie was just picking random clothes and throwing them onto the floor.

Alex then picked up a cute pink skirt and a unicorn shirt with a sleeveless jean jacket and leather boots.

Jamie did not look pleased with the outfit “I wanna look like a ballerina.” She said with her arms crossed over her chest. Alex went down on one knee and took her hand.

“It doesn’t matter what you wear, you always look like a beautiful ballerina.” Alex said “Now let’s go brush your hair.”

Alex got the brush and started brushing the blonde locks. “What style do you want to make?” Alex said still trying to untangle the hair.

“Anything” she said in a soft voice. Alex proceeded to tie a ponytail then add colorful pins on her hair. “Ok we’re ready let’s go down stairs I bet mum and dad are waiting for us.” Alex said.

They both went downstairs and met with their parents that were waiting by the door. They all went into the car and drove to the nearest pizza place. “Wait I thought we were getting Ice cream.” Alex asked as they stopped in front of the restaurant.

“We can get Ice cream after, plus I was craving pizza.” His father said. Alex just smiled at his father’s immature nature.

They all got out of the car and went into the restaurant where they ordered pizza. They all had an amazing night that was filled with laughs and stories of old times. Alex felt really happy and wanted to pause time; rare moments like this barely ever happened.

After a trip to go get some ice cream, they all went home and reality hit Alex in the face; his father had to go to work the next day.

They all got into the house and went straight to his room. He plumped onto his bed and stared out the window. Then all of a sudden he heard a knock at his door. He just kept quiet then after a while his dad came in.

Alex then sat up and his dad sat next to him. “You seem a bit bummed, is everything alright?” his father asked as he placed his hand on Alex’s shoulder.

Alex didn’t say anything; he just looked down at his hands feeling ashamed that he was being so selfish.

His father worked super hard to put food on the table and here he was acting childish.

“It seems that you're still a little kid. Alex its ok to feel what you feel and I really do want to spend more time with you…”

“No dad its ok, I get it; I’m really happy that you came today. I’m just feeling a bit bummed that you got to leave.” Even though Alex didn’t want to say it, he knew he had to let his dad know how he felt.

He was then pulled into a hug that threw him off at start but he eventually caved in. He really didn’t want his dad to worry because he already did so much for them.

They eventually let go “Well I promised your mum I'd help clean the kitchen, you better get started on your homework. ” his dad said as he got up. Alex just chuckled at his dad’s way of showing affection.

“Oh and Alex, don’t forget that I love you.” He said before he left Alex. “Love you to dad.” he quietly said to himself.

*Hello I'm sorry this chapter was a bit boring, Xavier wasn't even mentioned once T^T. I promise the next chapter will be more about the two. Hope you enjoyed the chapter ;)
