Xiao Xing’s POV

“Xiao Xing! Are you coming?! I don’t wanna be late to school!!” My “older” brother, Wang Yuan, whines.

I can’t believe he’s older than me, I’m way more mature and he still acts like a 3 year old.

“I’m coming!” I say, stomping down the steps.

We grab some apples and start walking to school.

“Boo!” A voice makes me jump.

“Xiao Kai! Don’t do that!” I scowl, putting my hand to my chest.

“Scaredy-cat!” Xiao Kai says, laughing.

I roll my eyes and take a bite of my apple. When we arrive, Wang Yuan and I throw the apple cores away.

“Xiao Xing! Xiao Xing!” My best friend, Mei Lin, almost chokes me as she hugs me.

“Calm down Mei Lin, you’re gonna choke her.” Xiao Kai laughs.

“Good to know that me choking is funny to you.” I give him a glare as I cough.

He laughs again.

Mei Lin gives Wang Yuan a hug.

“Why couldn’t I get a hug like that? Instead, I get to experience a near death situation.” I roll my eyes.

“Because she likes me better.” Wang Yuan says, playfully sticking his tongue out at me.

“You’re such a brat!” I growl.

“You are too!” He replies.

“Where’s Qian Xi?” Mei Lin asks, hugging Xiao Kai.

“Probably talking to Qin Qin.” Wang Yuan wiggles his eyebrows which makes Mei Lin giggle.

Xiao Kai and Wang Yuan leave to go find him.

“Just ask him out, he likes you too!” I tease.

“How are you okay with my dating your brother? Don’t you feel weird just thinking about it?” Mei Lin asks, frantically.

“Nope.” I say, popping the ‘p’.

“If I have to ask Wang Yuan out, then you should ask Xiao Kai out!” She teases.

“What?! No! That would be weird! Wang Yuan would never agree to me dating his best friend!” I say as my eyes widen.

“Wouldn’t he be protective of you?” She asks.

“Wang Yuan?! Never! He could care less about me! He would probably warn Xiao Kai that I’m annoying!” I say, rolling my eyes.

She giggles and we head inside.

“We fouuuuund him!” Wang Yuan excitedly jumps over to us with Qian Xi and Xiao Kai following.

“And guess what? He’s officially dating Qin Qin!” Xiao Kai laughs.

Qian Xi blushes.

“Aww!” Mei Lin and I giggle.

“Yeah, yeah. Let’s go to class.” Qian Xi says, walking away.

We enter Mrs. Liang’s classroom.

“Good morning, boys! How are you today?” She says with a smile.

“Good.” Xiao Kai replies.

I hated Mrs. Liang. She favored the boys just because they were famous.

“Good morning, Mrs. Liang.” Mei Lin mutters as we sit down.

She says nothing in return.

I roll my eyes.

After Class

We all head to the cafeteria after class. As I was about to take my usual seat next to Xiao Kai and Wang Yuan, someone rushes in front of me and takes my seat.

Brittney.

Xiao Xing’s POV

“Kai Kai! I missed you so much!!” She squeals, giving Xiao Kai a big hug.

I snicker and sit next to Mei Lin.

“Could you move? Xiao Xing’s sitting there.” Xiao Kai asks, scrunching up his nose.

Aww, he’s so cute.

“Ready for our date?” She giggles, ignoring Xiao Kai’s question.

“Only if you’re ready to get stood up.” I chuckle as Xiao Kai starts to laugh.

“I wasn’t even talking to you. Stop being jealous of Kai Kai and I’s relationship.” She flares at me.

“What relationship?” Sorry, but I don’t want Xiao Kai to hate me like he hates you.” I roll my eyes.

She scowls and gets up. I get up and take my seat.

After awhile, Qin Qin comes in and sits next to Qian Xi.

“Sorry I’m late. I was finishing up some class work.” She apologizes.

After Lunch

After lunch, Xiao Kai and I head to art class.

“Hi, Wang Junkai. Hi, Xiao Xing.” Ms. Luo greeted us with a smile as we walked into the classroom.

We give her a small wave and sit down in our seats.

“Kai Kai!” Brittney squeals as she takes a seat at our table.

“Kai Kai!” MacKenzie takes the last seat at our table.

“Excuse you, you’re gonna have to move because I’m sitting with my Kai Kai.” Jayden arrives.

No surprise. Brittney, MacKenzie, and Jayden are almost always together. Not to mention, they’re also the prettiest girls in the school.

I shrug, get up, and go sit with Qin Qin. Besides Mei Lin, Qin Qin’s my other best friend. We just don’t talk as much because we only share two classes: art and gym.

“Ugh. Sorry about them, I know how much you like Xiao Kai.” She rolls her eyes.

“Eh. He’ll never like me anyways. All of them are way prettier than me.” I shrug.

“Don’t say that! You’ll get him, I know you will.” Qin Qin reassures me.

I shrug again and begin my sketch.

The bell rings shortly and Xiao Kai quickly gets up, grabs my arm, and rushes out the door.

“Jeez! Xiao Kai! Slow down!” I said, stumbling over my own feet.

“Hey! Kai Kai! Come back! Don’t you want to walk me to class?” Brittney calls.

Xiao Kai ignores her and runs even faster.

“Ow!” I cry out as I hit the floor.

Xiao Kai stares wide-eyed at me.

I get up and brush myself off.

“Jeez! What’s wrong with you?!”

“S-Sorry, Xiao Xing! I-”

“Hmph! Save it.” I mutter angrily, and head back to the art room.

“Where are you going? We have gym!”

“Thanks to YOU, I left my binder in the art room.” I shoot him a glare.

“I’ll come with you...” Xiao Kai says as he makes his way over.

“STOP!”

Xiao Kai stops in his tracks.

“Don’t come with me. Just go to class. Please.”

He hesitates.

“Alright. Hurry up, don’t be late.” He sighs, looking at the ground.

I walk back to the art room.

I peer inside.

Nobody’s in there.

I tilt my head in confusion and open the door.

I go to my seat to look for my binder. It’s not there.

“Looking for this?” A sudden voice makes me freeze in horror.

I slowly turn my head.

What do you know?

Brittney, MacKenzie, and Jayden.

Xiao Xing’s POV

Brittney smirks with my binder in her hand.

She drops my binder, making all thre paper in it fall out.

I reach over to pick it up but Jayden kicks my hand.

My hand starts to bleed.

They start to leave but I grab Jayden and pull her to the ground.

I punch her in the face a few times and-

“What’s going on in here?!” A harsh voice demands.

I let her go and look towards the door.

It’s the principal, Mr. Wen.

“I was-” I start.

“We were in the classroom and then Xiao Xing just bursts in and starts attacking Jayden!!” MacKenzie accuses.

“That’s NOT what happened! I-”

“Enough. Brittney and MacKenzie, take Jayden to the nurse. Xiao Xing, come with me.” Mr. Wen instructs.

He heads out the door.

Brittney and MacKenzie glare at me and leave with Jayden.

I pick up my binder and all my papers and hurry out of the classroom.

Wang Junkai’s POV

“Have you seen Xiao Xing? She should be here by now.” Wang Yuan asks, worriedly.

“Uh, yeah. She went back to the art room because she forgot her binder.”

“Why didn’t you go with her?”

“She wouldn’t let me.” I say, looking away.

‘Where IS Xiao Xing? She should be here by now.’ I thought.

Xiao Xing’s POV

“Mr. Wen! It’s really not what it seems! I was trying to-”

“Be quiet! Do you have any proof? Because when I walked in, all I saw was that you put Jayden in a head lock. Explain that.” He says, sternly.

“I was going back to the art room because I forgot my binder! When I was searching around the classroom, Brittney, MacKenzie, and Jayden appeared holding my binder. They took my binder, Mr. Wen! Then they dropped it and all my papers fell out, and when I reached to go get it, Jayden kicked me! So I hit her...”

“Was it really necessary to hit her back though?”

“Self-defense...?” I answer, unsurely.

He shakes his head and turns on the intercom.

“Would Brittney please come to the front office?”

In a few seconds, Brittney was here.

“Hi, Mr. Wen!” She plastered a cheerful smile on her face.

“Hello, Brittney. I would like you to describe what happened when you guys were in the art room.”

“Well... I don’t really want to... it makes me really sad because Jayden got hurt.” She frowns.

‘Liar!’ I shoot her a look.

“It’s okay if you can’t, I totally understand.” Mr. Wen nods.

“Well... I can try my best. It started when I found Xiao Xing’s binder on the ground. I picked it up and ran out of the art room, trying to find her. After awhile, I went back to the art room, hoping she was there looking for her binder. MacKenzie, Jayden, and I went to give her back her binder. When she saw me holding her binder, she immediately thought that we took it and attacked Jayden, who was the closest to her. In all that, I dropped her binder and the papers flew everywhere... and the binder cut her hand.” She added the last part quickly, trying to make it sound realistic.
