I remember my master calling out my name, Bao Shan Wu..., Bao Shan Wu where have you put my recipes this time? Don't tell me you tried to create those pills again?

I tried for over a hundred of times to create some immortality pills after my Great Master's recipes but I have always failed. It was just a research for me. I don't know if my master ever succeeded to create these pills of immortality. What are these pills for,

to become forever young or to extend your life but for how long and are they really effective?

My master never wanted to tell me all of his secrets so I was usually stealing his personal recipes to study them. Once he aged, he became so obsessed with creating an "immortality pill" or "elixir of youth".

Frankly speaking, that subject started to captivate my attention in the last months but I am still a beginner in the arts of healing and saving the people's lives, so I can't decipher my master's formulas.

Ahhh...I feel so powerless in front of my master's knowledge but the stingy old man doesn't want to share his most treasured secrets with anyone.

I have learned a lot of things from my master, from cutting woods to picking up herbs and making medicinal soups, writing, reading, playing the flute, cooking, sewing, dyeing silk and many other useful activities.

I, Bao Snan Wu, will be always grateful to this old man. He picked me up from the forest when I was one year old. It seems that I was abandoned there by my biological parents.

Who would have done that to a little cute girl?

Well, it doesn't matter now....

I am a doctor, I have no right to hate anyone.

If one day I will meet my real parents, I will still be grateful to them for giving me this life.

Maybe they had their reason to give up on me, who knows!

Anyway, my master took care of me untill today. He offered me the best education possible and now I can be proud of my accomplishments.

Right now, we are living together in a modest home at the foot of a mountain. Near this place there are several villages, so our patients come from these places but also other distant provinces.

This master of mine is so famous among the crowds that he became a living legend, "The Secluded Healer"!

Once, I have read his journal and I found out that he was an imperial physician in his old days but at the age of fourty, he was wrongly accused of something and removed from his function. Since then, he disappeared from the ordinary world and became what is today, a genius hermit.

He healed so many people that he became famous all over the country.

Right now, I am twenty five years old and I have also saved some lives during my training period but I still have the sensation that I need more experience, I need to see the world and meet a variety of people with different problems. I am not sure that I can cure all the diseases in this world but I will definitely try my best.

I want to be a human who saves lives, just like my Great Master!

The life is so wonderful and this world offers us so many great things and sceneries, so many great people and lessons, that is a pity not to enjoy it. As a doctor, I hope that every living creature can live a healthy and prosperous life, that's why it is my duty to lessen their sufferings.

I only wish we can all live a carefree life and enjoy the sceneries together. I will always love these sceneries, these sweet moments, the Yellow river, the mountain and my master!

Forever....!

It is Monday morning and I am preparing my baskets for going out to pick herbs. Today, my master requested some rare ingredients for his new medicine. I don't know if I can find all these things only in the nearby forest, maybe I will be constrained to go up on the mountain too or to cross the river again. My bamboo raft is still unrepaired from my last trip but I hope that I will not need it today.

This morning the sun glitters above the Yellow river's surface and you have the feeling that you are seeing a golden-silver dragon. It's such an amazing landscape!

The mountain is like a huge bear and the forest is a green carpet. I just love this place!

Hahahaha....(suddenly starting to laugh)!!!!!

Oh....it's getting late, I really must go now!!!

(After walking on the small path between the bushes for a while , Bao Shan Wu reaches a wider road used by all the peasants. She looks back but can not see the small house hidden between the green vegetation. Her master was a genius picking up this place as his hideout. At the foot of the mountain, between the small threes and near the Yellow river, the best place to hide and live a tranquil life. The old man was loving the silence!)

Wow...I have finally reached the forest!!!

(she sits down, puts the basket near and starts digging out some tiny plants)

It seems that I am very lucky today!!!

As soon as I entered the forest I already found some of the plants on my list. Maybe I am going to return home early this time! That would be nice! Very nice!!!

(She goes deeper into the forest...)

Ahhh...there are the mushrooms my master wants!!! The lichens and mosses!!!

(Suddenly a sound of broken branches resounds in Bao Shan Wu's ears. She fastly jumps up on her feet and gets prepared for the enemy's ambush but nothing visible appears. She looks down when something soft touches her right foot.)

What's this furry ball? A white rabbit?

Why is he getting close to a human, isn't he afraid of getting eaten by it?

(The rabbit looks up at her with teary eyes.)

Oh...my God, is he going to cry next?

No way, no way, not in front of me!

I, Bao Shan Wu, can't let that happen!!!

This little friend was hurt by an arrow in the hind leg and now he can't walk anymore. I am wondering how did he managed to escape alive? Either is eaten by humans or eaten by the wild beasts is the same result in the end!

(She applies the medicine on the wound of the rabbit and bandages it.)

Poor creature, he is so defenseless!!!

He can't even jump now with his injured leg!

If I let him here in this state, he will become the other beasts food. Sigh...my heart is saddened by this thought!!!

I will just....

(She picks up the little rabbit and puts it in her basket.)

....take it to the Grove of Bushes around our house!!! It will be safe there!!!

Phew....(she wipes her forehead with one of her palms and looks at the rays of sun who were penetrating the veil of leaves)!!!!

It seems that I finally finished my tasks for today, it's time to go back!

I am getting really hungry from so much walking, I hope that my master prepared something comestible to eat. He, sometimes, cooks horrible dishes!!!

I don't want to try that again! (starts crying)

(After some hours, Bao Shan Wu is back into the green grove.)

(She puts the basket down and takes the little rabbit into her hands.)

Did I shake you too much on the way to the grove?

(The tiny rabbit was looking at her with curious big eyes but couldn't answer her questions. He wanted to answer her so much but he was just a powerless wild rabbit who could not speak the language of the humans.

Rabbit: Jiejie, Jiejie....(almost crying)!!!

This will be your new home from now on. There is plenty food around this place and no big threat for the small creatures, you should be safe here. When I will have free time, I will come to check your wound so wait for me here. Don't get out of this orchard!
