C’mon in Mam, it’s just a lab. What are you afraid of?" pulling over the girl to the door said the sister dressed in a resident nurse’s uniform.

I understand, however... I, ugh let’s go back. There's no way I can handle going in there, let alone the blood test. I'd rather not... It's just a common fever that will go away by itself.

    “Oh... no, no we are getting the tests done since you’ve been sick for a week”

With the girl in tow, the nurse entered the lab.

Maria prepared herself for the blood test by walking over to the chair and sitting down. Looking at her discomfort, the nurse comforted her. “being a doctor, you are afraid of needles? C’mon you lit stitch patients’ flesh”

 Maria glared at her, “I ain’t afraid of needles, I just don’t feel good coming here”

       In the following minute, sister Penny inserted the needle into her vein. The lab attendee requested her name and details after she submitted the sample.

Could you tell me your name, Mam? Maria, “Age”?  “25”.

Without even looking at the lab person she exited the place, Sister Penny came downstairs after a moment and said, “I’ve given him your WhatsApp number. He will probably send you the reports by night”

          “Seriously? Sis Penny, you gave my number to a stranger just like that? You know I hate sharing my details with others. Ugh!!!!

“It’s fine Mam, it’s just a number, no big deal, huh?”

‘Yes, to me it’s a big deal. I could’ve got my reports tomorrow, nothing urgent, but you shouldn’t have done that

yelling at her, Maria walked away, grabbing her bag

                later that night after dinner, her mobile phone popped up with a text... “Hi”

As a ***** as Maria was, she would never reply to people’s texts or calls. She ignored it

The screen again lit up. “Hi, this is Sean, from the lab” With the text came an attachment of her blood reports,

Maria went through the reports and send a “Thank you” Not willing to continue, she threw her phone away and hit the bed. A moment later “TING” again a text popped “How’s your fever”? followed by another “You have tested typhoid positive, you should take care of your health”

       making the weirdest face possible, Maria glared at those texts, “seriously,”? she questioned herself,

“ok thanks” she typed unwillingly hoping not to get any more texts from the other side

   “TING,” rolling her eyes she swipes her phone “Take care, good night, eat meds on time and get well soon”

ignoring his texts, she went back to her sleep...

            The night passed after a refreshing sleep. Maria got up and got ready for work and, just as she was about to leave,

“Ting”. Her screen lit up with a bunch of texts. She just let it go, as she was getting late for work. In the mid-afternoon “TING”

She opened her WhatsApp just to see a couple of messages in her inbox “HI, how are you?” “how’s your fever” “Had lunch?” “take care” and many more. This Made Maria think that “Is he taking the liberty to text coz I didn’t pay the blood test amount”? Haiya, if that’s the case, I better pay it asap.

 this went on for a day or two.... later on, due to lack of Maria's interest in texting back or replying the other person seem o have taken a step back or chosen momentary pause, 2 days later when Mari's health didn't improve she had to consult a senior doctor but...but.... since she had disappearing messages option on on her chats her reports no longer existed, with no choice left she had to again contact that guy to get her reports for consultation,

again started the conversation from the other person and this time there was no momentary pause, things like checking on health take care messages went on and on for a longer time ...... until one day......
