Inside the hostage situation [ Yoongi's POV]

"it ain't gonna happen"(criminal)

"Min Yoongi --"( Yoongi's wife Jihyun)

"Let her go and I'll pay up your money "

The criminal was tightening Jihyun from his elbow and holding the gun at her head.Jihyun was desperately trying not to make me worry about her . The criminal's elbow was preventing Jihyun to breathe

"The money ain't the deal . You locked me up in a prison while my brother was sentenced to death cus of you . Let me show you how I went through the death of my beloved brother by killing your wife and child in the womb"

"NO NO LET HER GO !!! KILL ME INSTEAD . IM YOUR DEAL NOT HER !!"

" Hon-- Honey " Jihyun was speaking to me while she was out of breath. " I -- Love -- You "

The Criminal pulled the trigger and a bullet went through Jihyun's head . That moment my mind was not only blank , my heart was suddenly feeling hurt as if it was slit to 10,000 pieces. My wife Jihyun was lifeless as the criminal pushed her to the ground .

"Ji--Jihyun ? JIHYUN ! TALK TO ME BABE !! JIHYUN !!"

"she ain't gonna see you again cop "

My tears couldn't hold back . I started crying with anger and dispute as I pointed the gun at the criminal , he already shot me .

The pain engulfed inside me , piercing through internally. I faintly heard police sirens wailing outside the abandoned factory. Many officers were shouting out SKPD and KNPA.

It ringed through my ears ,as the noice started fainting I got a glimpse of my police Sargent Lee Hyuk

"sir !! do you hear me sir ? you are gonna be fine , please hang on sir "(Sargent)

How can I 'hang on' when my whole world is broken down . It is rather painful to think about living . I might as well as die in regret

my vision started to fail and my body became numb and cold I passed out .

Present day (after five years) in a hospital at Seoul

"The vital signs are fine -- he should wake up after a month's time"(a doctor)

I woke up to the sound of someone speaking about some vital signs . My eyes couldn't fixate the bright light for some time but I eventually found myself lying on a hospital bed with multiple tubes injected into me. My ribs were stinging in pain . As I recall that was where I got shot. My whole mind is in confusion as I couldn't think straight.

"ah, Patient Min Yoongi has woken up earlier than expected--"

the nurse nudged the doctor

" How can we tell him?"

" °yawn° Tell me what?" I asked the nurse in a daze

" °ahem° well don't blame me for this but , you were unconscious for --- 5 years"

I stood up in shock and disbelief

"THE F*** !!!! "

After settling down as Police Captain

[Yoongi's POV]

"Good morning sir "( Sam Jung detective)

"Good to have you back with us Captain"(Sargent Lee Hyuk)

"It's just the way I left the office " I exclaimed thinking about the 'old times'. "Sargent how are the crime stats ?"

"Sir since your comeback the crime stats are going great "

"I'm looking forward to improve the precinct more efficient, with your help and the squad it'll be a piece of cake " I am not used to complimenting other people. But they need it the most .

I went to my office which I had many memories with Jihyun. I work here while Jihyun teach little graders. She used to come crawling and sulking around here to get my attention. If she was still alive I would have a son or a daughter of mine.

" °chuckles° I miss you so much" but deep inside me I have an empty trophy." °sigh° let's get back to work "

"sir we have a minor situation."(Sam Jung)" a rookie who was the best in the police academy has got rejected for a petty reason . Here is her Bio data, documents and certification."

I went through the documents.

"Sam Jung , inform the Seoul Police commissioner that I will be having an audience with him "

I made a decision to meet him and confirm the reason why he rejected an excellent rookie.

[ Y/N's POV ]

" Mom !! did the letter come yet !!" I asked with both excitement and nervousness

"My sweet honey cupcakes , the post man didn't come yet °laughs°"( Mom)

"aaah what !! I've done my Police command course! I've done my very best . The best of best , but why didn't It still come after 2 months"

I couldn't wait for much longer. My desire to become a police officer is not only a desire, it's a life long dream . I have done my part perfectly, I'll wait for the results.

*Riiing*

The door bell rang as I ran to get the door. I opened it up to see the post man in our neighborhood.

"Special delivery for you , young miss. it's that letter you've been waiting for "

"ahaha finally !!" I grabbed it from his hand and went inside . I ripped the envelope open a d waited for my mom to come

"Mom !! the letter is finally back ! "

"oooh my little cupcake is happy ! what does it say?"

I opened it up and read it till the end . I couldn't believe what was written in it . I read it again and again to confirm what was in it and it clearly had the stamp ---- Rejected

" My honey bunches what does it say ? are you in ?"

" it says in REJECTED"

"my honey bunches, now all you can do is cry"

All I could do is cry ? --- wait NO . I am not those frail young women who cry about everything all the time? I'm a strong woman who uphold Justice in my hands.

"I'm going to the Police department to confirm my rights !!"

The Seoul Police department

"I'm sorry Y/N but this letter says that you've been rejected. There is nothing I can do about it "( Reception )

" so I wasted my money , went through the police command course for six months , did my very best and I got rejected for WHAT reason ?"

I was in rage and I couldn't control my anger.

"i-- don't know th--the reason .But the commissioner might .o---ok i-- I'll make an appointment with the commissioner" the receptionist was shuddering his words .

"I don't wanna waste my precious time ! where is the commissioner's office? " I asked him in a hurry .

"Take a turn right at the second hallway"

after hearing the words I didn't waste my time meeting the junk commissioner.

Inside the commissioner's office [Yoongi's POV]

"so you are saying , that I should accept a young lady who's brother has committed murder ? what will happen if the citizens know about this 'accepting a murderer's sister as a cop' ? tell me ?"(commissioner Kang Sung)

"Well I could say that the citizens won't protest for such an issue --" I wanted to make the rookie mine. With the rookie's skills we can make our precinct excellent."sir it's just a matter of time the--"

there were sudden interruptions outside the office

("Lemme in !! I wanna talk to the commissioner !! let me in !!"

"ma'am we can't let you in yet . The commissioner is busy "

"It will only take a few minutes !! please")

shouts came from outside the office. Commissioner signalled me to open the door . As I did , a young girl barged in and grabbed my collar.

"Are you the commissioner , if so , tell me why you haven't already accepted me as a cop after leading as the best in the class "

The girl looked exactly like the rookie from the postal ID in her Bio data. She kept a bold figure and tightened my collar .I wasn't however overwhelmed by her 'intense staring' . I was saved when the commissioner interrupted her.

" °ahem° well can Captain Min Yoongi and this woman , can you sort out your problems outside the office without making up a huge scene? "

"Captain -- Min Yoongi? " (Rookie) she came to her senses when she heard I was a captain. "sorry about that sir I was here for the commissioner"

She then stormed inside and started arguing with Kang Sung.

"---- tell me why you haven't accepted me !!!! or else I will break your whole office and tear down every thing you own "

"see she still poses her brother's characteristics °laughs°" commissioner was addressing me through that comment.

"what !!! - I am not my brother and Sir people are different from one another. Even though my brother walked the path to failure that doesn't mean that I should too. I speak as an ordinary individual ! I do not speak for my brother and in this scenario I speak for myself and ---"

I stopped her and took initiative.What she said was surprisingly true . "she will work in our precinct and I will take full responsibility , Cmisr. Kang Sung I am asking this as a favor"

Kang Sung then exhaled a huge sigh and grit his teeth. He then looked at me,

"I am exhausted, do what you want . "

"THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR !!! THAT MEANS IM IN ? ISN'T IT?" She was excited to hear about it .

"yes now leave my office"

I saluted Kang Sung while she excitedly jumped around. We walked out of the office but we talked nothing. I tried to ask her name many times but she was busy acting all happy.

outside the office

(Should I ask her -- no I shouldn't -- I should if she is gonna work with me -- the bio data has her name -- damnit why did I forget it? --)

"well captain --? are you gonna be my captain from today? and I'm sincerely sorry that I disturbed your the talk between you and the commissioner"

she finally started a conversation. It's not as if I've been wanting her to speak

"You didn't interior me .Well as a matter of fact yes , you start from tommorow as a beat cop " I wish I can have a day off and sleep.

"beat cop !! but sir I can be more than that !!"

"Y/N" well she has a nice name but her behavior is a big off.

" °yawn° you start from scratch and pave your way through to the top. I'm giving you an opportunity . Reject my offer , you get fired understood?"

" °salute° Yes sir !!"

She reminds me of Jihyun . The way she looks like and the way she talks reminds me of her. Is God -- sending me a blessing or a punishment for what I couldn't do back then?

The next day [Y/N's POV]

"ooooh my little honey bunch looks dashing in uniform"(mom)

*Riiing*

mom ran downstairs to get the door after sometime she asked me to come downstairs.

"cupcakes do you know this gentleman?"

A tall man was standing on our door step smiling at me and mom.

"I'm Jung Hoseok , you can call me Hope . Your captain sent me here to pick you up "

"why's that ?" I asked him with suspicion.

"I called him yesterday and asked him if I could come over to his office . Well -- um he said to pick you up too since you live near my Dance studio"

"Woa you run a dance studio ? that's awsome !! but why haven't I never seen it near before?"

"hehe I -- um it's a bit far from here , you are so spot on ! you're a great detective"

he complimented me for what I have not yet achieved.I wanted to change the subject. Maybe I should ask about his interest (dancing) since he is fond of it.

"so are you the head in your studio?"

"I'm just a dance coordinator , my studio head is Kim Namjoon . He's the man ! Soo shall we hitch a ride in the bus ? "

"sure"

The precinct

" Hehe you get to work with the demon from today onwards " Hoseok gave me a remark.

"oh and he told me to tell you that you should report to his office immediately after your arrival and registration"

That is strange, The captain might have something to tell me.

"---- ok ?"

I went through the registration while Jung Hoseok kept staring at me with vivid eyes. I turned around to glance at him and I thought he would be spooked , but instead he smiled.

I officially arrived at the precinct where I was welcomed by a blonde haired and built gentleman. "nice to meet you to our squad"

he then introduced himself to me. " I am your Sargent Lee Hyuk , I will be handling and mentoring your reports temporary"

He was followed by a red haired man who was looking cute " hi I'm detective Sam Jung" he then introduced a lady who was gloomy and studious at first glance " she is Amy Diaz"

"And that is your partner Felicia Mo , so Felicia is in the same standard as you for approximately one year "(Sargent)

"what ?? that's insane" I pouted at Sargent's comment

"insane it is °Smiles° I'm Felicia" she gave me a hand shake as I greeted her too

we were having a bit fun for the moment but it was ruined by the Captain's sudden appearance.

" Didn't Hoseok tell you to report to my office first thing you come in here" I was then alarmed . I promised him before registration.

"I --- I am sorry sir "

(the squad : she's doomed 😢)

he signalled me to follow him up as I was searching for Hope. We reached the Captain's office where Hoseok was inside .

The office

"Hey YN °waves° "

" Hey man"

I felt uneasy at the atmosphere as if someone was burning in anger .

*slaaam*

I turned around ,away from Hoseok , Yoongi slammed his hands on his office desk . He then came closer to me and lifted my chin

"You are here to work ! flirting with other men in broad daylight won't make our precinct efficient , here is your first assignment"

I got a fright from his remarks.

(hobi : precinct's efficiency \= Yoongi × YN efficiency in relationship 😁 hehehe these guys are so cute together)

"DO YOU UNDERSTAND !!! THE HELL ? YOU CANT EVEN figure out a simple command given by me, to REPORT to my office! "

he has a point , I told him that I would devote to this precinct but a small talk won't bother the 'precinct efficiency'.

"I am sorry sir "

"Get out !" Yoongi shouted at me . I stared at him and then went back to my seat.

[Yoongi's POV]

" UGH that headache again " I wanted to keep things light with YN but I couldn't control my own anger . Hoseok was looking at me with pity " Hobi ,it's been five years isn't it? I wish I could've just died "

"yeah we've been worrying about you. You can't say you wanna die and Yoongi do you know how much Namjoon and I were worried ? Jung Kook couldn't even keep a straight head even as a CEO , so how can Taehyung , Jk's secretary pull himself together? Jimin lost his mind when he heard you were shot . Jin couldn't attend his own art ceremony with a broken heart. But now things are back to normal ! --"

"I am --- Sorry I worried all of you dumba**es but how can things go back to normal when she isn't here" I tried to make my composure as bold as I can keep. So that Hobi won't feel anything wrong was going on with me. Hoseok somehow saw through my act . He comforted me.

" As far as I know , you are the most devoted husband in the whole world . She forgives you and she might've sent another beauty (YN) out of compassion " I know Hoseok tries his best to comfort me but his words only make me desperate. " she acts like Jihyun a lot though. I couldn't help but stare at her for that reason during registration. Give YN a chance im sure she'll be the one to fill you're --- swag I guess cus I miss that side of you?"

" Thanks hobi " but deepdown I regret letting YN in here. I can't fire her for my f*cking decision , but I can avoid her for the best.

" Hey let's have a reunion in hotel X ! our gang , your Sargent and squad also YN can be invited"

I didn't pay attention to Hoseok instead I was lost in the maze of thoughts.

"so -- your silence can be taken as um-- a YES ! I'll inform your detective" Hoseok hugged me which I least wanted and gave me a pat on the shoulder as I dropped down on my desk staring at a family photo of me and Jihyun on my desk.
