But I was terrified to find that there were dozens of people surrounding my home. I immediately soothed myself that, they may be debt collectors, even knowing that my mother doesn't take debts. I wanted to escape from the truth since I already knew that mother's health wasn't good that week. As I was trying to go through the crowd someone said 'A lady died in this house this afternoon.' I was shocked. I didn't believe his words. I wanted to find out myself. I wanted those words to be false. As I rushed through the door I saw mother lying on the floor with her eyes closed. I went near her. The lady next door who held mother in her lap tried to stop me but I avoided her to see for myself. I held mother's hand. It was cold. I shouted 'Mom, please wake up.' 'Mom, you will catch cold if you lie here. Mom, wake up please...' I tried to contain myself but the tears were rolling down my face. "Mom, please open your eyes and say that the people outside are lying. They are saying that you died. But I know mom, that you will never leave me all alone. You promised me that you will see me grow up and become a great man. You also said that you will be proud to see me become independent and make you lead a happy life. I worked hard every day at school. I worked hard everyday at home as you would become happy seeing me do all the household chores. So, please mom don't break our promise."
