As usual her mom didn't buy any gorceries so there was nothing but air and an occasional roach in the cupboards
Spri slammed the cupboard door closed

Guess tonight was one of those nights for dumpster diving
She grabbed her coat and was out the door
He mom wasn't home. Working a late shift again. She was forever doing that
When she left school, she was never going to work in a factory like her mom
Tress
Hey Spri! Where are you going?
Spri
The usual. Dumpster diving.
Spri
The house is dry, mom didn't buy groceries
She and Tress lived similar situations, so she knew all about dumpster diving. They usually did it together
They yapped all the way there because Tress could sure talk. Tress didn't know the word quiet or silent

Spri pointed at the dumpsters

Spri had gone in the dumpster. Digging around, looking for semi good food
Tress stayed outside hers pulling out stuff she thought was good

Oh yum. Half of a Swedish roll

Hey Tress I found strawberries
Tress
And I found a bag full of chocolate bars
Spri continued digging. She was finding some good stuff
Something was shining in a corner
She reached for it but it was attached to something
Spri jumped when she pulled on it and a hand came up
Tress called from her dumpster
Spri
There's a hand in here
Spri said in a shaky voice
Tress
A hand? Girl what are you saying?
Spri moved aside more of the trash around the hand and reveled an arm, chest....
She didn't wait to see the rest. Spri dived out of the dumpster so fast, Flash would have been proud

Tress ran over to her when she tumbled out
Spri
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!
Spri was clutching her chest, breathing fast, eyes wide in shock
Tress tried to hold her and peek inside the dumpster
Spri
There's a body in there!
All colour drained from Tress' face. She pulled back from the dumpster not wanting to see it
Spri
We need to get out of here!
There were voices coming their way
Spri and Tress froze and then scrambled clutching each other behind the dumpster
Yeah, we ended him. One voice said
"He didn’t bring the money, we warned him." The voice continued
"Boss sent me to confirm the hit." Another voice said
The both girls trembled behind it
They felt the dumpster shake and heard some shuffling around
"Hey you didn’t cover it properly "
"Yeah I did. I threw a whole lot of stuff on him."
"Well his chest and hand wasn’t covered. We don't want people finding him too soon. Want a few days to go by."
"I swear I covered him good. Maybe someone came by and was in there "
"Ok hit confirmed.Cover him back up."
