"Hey little girl. Watch where your going."

I look up to the meat head that shoved passed me. "Oh I'm sorry. Am I hurting your fragile ego being here while I'm so young?" He glares at me but he slightly looks up and stops dead in his tracks.

"D-dont want no trouble sir. Please forgive me." I look behind me and see a lanky boy holding his mage book in hand. It was sky blue with a plus sign, meaning he must be a healer. Though I don't know why a knight type guy like this meat head would be scared of this scrawny healer.

"Stop pestering this fine young witch and scram."

The meat head glares at me one more time before looking back up at the boy and walks away, mumbling under his breathe that I'm not worth his time.

I turn to the boy and he smiles at me, "Hi I'm Lucas, nice to meet you."

"I'm Rin, I'm a gifted witch."

He gives me a big grin, "I'm a really gifted healer! You know I'm pretty well known?" He says, flexing the muscles he doesn't have. I can't help but giggle at him.

"How are you well known when your a newbie to the exam just like me?"

"Well I help the weak, when they are being bullied." He laughs nervously, "N-not that your weak!"

"But, I am basically known for my healing spells and buffer magic. I know some pretty hard hitting offense spells too." He puffs out his chest like a peacock showing off and I can't help but burst out laughing.

Lucas rubs the back of his neck awkwardly and laughs softly too. "Oops I guess I should've been less boastful about my skills..."

We both laugh quietly as Lucas leads me around the hall. We go past people who seem like normal kids, all wearing white clothes, white hats, and white gloves.

"Welcome to the Adventurers Exams, by the way, I know this place inside and out. So don't be afraid to ask me some questions."

I raise a questioning eyebrow to him and he nervously laughs, "I liked to watch the exams a lot when I was a kid...my mom used to take me a lot. She was a great Healer herself. Before she settled down she was a powerhouse. Good in defense and offense. All the great Adventurers wanted her. Not just for their team either."

I give him a kinda disbelieving look, but don't say anything more.

"Ok new Adventurers! Get ready for a challenging day of fighting goblins, direwolves and bullhogs! If you can't fight those basic monsters you will be disqualified. Because if you can't defend against the most basic and low leveled creatures. You won't be able to defend against rogue pirates of other enemies." The announcer scans the room for a pause of affect, But gets mostly bored looks except from Lucas, who looks like he was ready to burst out of his shoes. I smile at him. He's a peculiar person, but I can tell he would make any team pretty good company.

"Ok ladies and gents, get into position. We are about to begin, defend yourselves and the last ones standing, get their Adventurers License. This exam does not end until all the monsters have been slain." He looks for any scared newbies and adds, "We will have expert healers on standby for any examinees that have fallen."

He smiles and with a grand gesture of his hands, he exclaims, "May the urge of adventure and riches propell you to finishing this exam and greatness."

I scan for Lucas and see he's already headed towards me.

"Hey Rin, wanna be my partner? You defend, I heal and back us up?"

I contemplate whether or not to say yes. As yes, teamwork is part of most Adventurers, but most new Adventurers go solo for the exam and a little after the exam. Healers don't stay alone for long, but they try and show their offensive skills in exams by going in alone.

"Are you sure you don't want to go in alone?"

He smiles big, "Nope, I like you a lot and already want you as one of my teammates!"

I shrug, "Sure it would be nice to have a 'well known' backup."

He frowns at his notice of me teasing him about earlier, but it comes back as he realizes I still said yes.

We both stand on the platform, waiting for our cue. I watch as Lucas takes a deep breath, as if he's preparing himself. I wonder what he wants to prove himself. Maybe he wants to be more than a 'well known' healer in the exam.

"Here we go." His voice seems to shake a bit. I give him an encouraging smile, just as the bell rings and they let out the monsters. I rush in without hesitation just like the rest of the contestants.

I look behind me and there's Lucas right behind me, a little too close, like he's worried he'd lose me in the fray, but Adventurers don't get one on one things or none reckless brawls and fighting, because an Adventurer adapts to one on one or an all out brawl where, you watch out for your team while focusing on multiple targets. that's why mages and witches have a good chance at becoming an Adventurer.

I blast a bullhog with a mid level fire spell, setting it ablaze. There, let there be more chaos in this brawl.

I next use my materializing magic to conjure a bow and arrow and shoot 4 direwolves that were about to pounce on some newbie knigts. After finishing this, I turn to my new partner to find he's taken down several direwolves. His eyes are wide and his face is full of determination. I smile to myself and go to finish them off. I conjure an axe, recklessly swinging it around cutting into many hogs, wolves and goblins. I can't help but smile dementedly, more chaos my body tells me. My hair lifts with the friction of my chaotic magic and without single thought pinpointed where all the rest of the remaining monsters were. I lift my glowing hands and spikes launch out of the earth around the arena, stabbing and slicing into the last remaining monsters.

"who is that girl Sir?"

"I think it might be that one legendary psychotic witch that causes chaos wherever she goes. What's her name? Lilith, I think."

"That's HER daughter! we should've made her fight alone, she coulda hurt a lot of new recruits!" The head of the Adventurers guild smirks at me as he says to his advisor, "Crazy little bag of chaos. I wondered why she stopped showing up all these years."

Everybody blinks and boos as they see it was I who had taken down the last of the monsters. I smile nervously, "Hehe, sorry. I couldn't help myself."

"Yay! We are Adventurers now Lucas! Can you believe it!" I hold my license up proudly. He nervously rubs his neck, "Hehe yeah, we are Adventurers now...do you think we just made some enemies with that OP move you did? you did kinda steal everyone's thunder."

I give him a bored look, "Look Lucas my buddy. Half of those people wouldn't have made it if I didn't do what I did."

"Hey you!" I turn to see a blonde skinny chick with green eyes.

"You stole my last kill!" I get ready for a brawl when a smile comes across her face, "I want to be apart of your team! Aaannndd as a knight, I say I want the team captain position!"

Lucas spits out his drink in surprise, going into a coughing fit. I laugh at him and turn back to the girl, "For one, we don't even know your name. Two, just cuz your a knight doesn't automatically make you captain of a team."

She smirks and raises her hand for a handshake, "Dia DawnRose, trained under the royal knights."

I roll my eyes, "Look, dai-"

"It's Dia!"

"-Why are you even wanting to be an Adventurer if you have the chance to have such a cushy job like the Royal knights?"

She rolls her eyes and crosses her arms, "I can be as cushy as I want to but I'm not interested in being any of those knights. They are all boring and lazy and they act all high and mighty. But me, I want to make a real difference, and I can see your starting team is the ones to make that difference. So please, let me join your team."

Lucas gives me puppydog eyes as to say, "Just let her join."

I turn my head up in disapproval, "Fine, but I want it on record I'm not fond of this whole idea."

She squeals happily and hugs me tightly.

"Ouch, hey your hugging me too tight!" Lucas joins in and I sigh in exasperation.

We finally arrive at the Adventurers Guild. It has tall, glass walls and fancy decorations lining every inch of it, there are many guild members and even civilians walking in and out of the place with new requests, I also notice a few newbies walking about.

The guild hall looks amazing, there are banners hung along the walls with guild logos, banners with the guilds names written in golden ink, a large stage in front of the hall filled with a podium. And behind the stage, the Guild Masters stand together with other guild members, talking about something.

As soon as Dia gets in she runs towards a man that looks like he's from the royal guard.

"Dad! I made it! I got my Adventurers License! I'm gonna be an Adventurer, just like mom!"

He looks down at her frowning, "Dia. I told you not to be one. Your mom got severely injured being an Adventurer. Why couldn't you be a guard or knight like your older brother James and I?"

She stops hugging him and gives him big sad eyes, "But dad! Mom loved being Adventurer! Remember the stories she'd tell us?"

"Well guess where that landed her? Weak, barely able to stand, much less to defend herself. Not only that. Her benefits are not as much as our own. At least when we get severely injured we have the chance to live a very comfy life, maybe even become a noble if we have served well."

She starts crying, "No dad. I promise you! From today onwards I'm gonna be the greatest Adventurer ever!" She punches the air, "Yes yes yes, I will protect the world from evil! Yes yesss."

The man shakes his head in annoyance before turning back to his friends.

She looks down at her feet, I can see her fighting back tears. I sigh and lay a hand on her back, "Hey, c'mon. Our team is gonna be well known one day, and your gonna prove him wrong."

She gives me a small smile and turns to walk towards the registry. I smirk and use my levitation magic to flick a drink in her dad's face, as I follow Dia. I giggle under my breath as I hear the commotion behind us as people ask her dad what happened. Lucas gives me a chastising look and I give him a shrug.

We reach the registration and set up our team and team name. I got to choose the team name. From now on, we will be known as Tream Chaos.

We finish setting up and go find another guild member to join. This time Dia is determined to find a nice girl. While she does so Lucas grabs me by the shoulder and gives me a worried expression, "Please don't make anymore of a scene."

I chuckle and give him a wink, "Oh but dear Lucas. Chaos is in our name."

He rolls his eyes and runs and gives me an exasperated look, "I knew we shouldn't have agreed to you naming the team."

I giggle and walk off in the direction Dia went. Lucas right behind me like always.

I look around as we walk, but I can't seem to find her.

"Dia! Let's go! We will find a 4th member later! Let's get a start on those missions!"

She comes running towards us, "Team! I think I found the newest member!"

Behind her stands a shy elf girl, who looks like she's ready to run.

I look the elf girl up and down, "Dia, hunny...no. People need to WANT to join."

She gives me big sad puppy dog eyes, but the little elf girl decides that's her chance to bolt.

"Besides I think that's a civilian. We can always get a new member later."

She sighs as I guide her to where the mission counter is.

I smirk at the hot guy that's running the mission counter. I was about to start flirting, but Lucas takes front row.

"Hello sir, we are here for our first mission!" I groan. He's making me look like a fool, by being his usual newbie like self.

The hot guy looks up at him and looks me up and down with a smirk, but Lucas gets in front of me again.

"Uhm sir, can we please have a mission so we can head out?"

He stops trying to check me out and hands Lucas a piece of paper with mission details and where to report when done.

"Great! Thank you!" He grabs my hand to force me to go with them. I frown and turn my head to look back at the hot guy. He gives me a wink, making me blush.

We sit down at one of the courtyard tables to see what the details of the mission is.

"Looks like a wild ogre is tormenting this small village. It says the town is called Bridge to Dawn."

"That's a weird name for a village." I say, double checking the details.

He takes the paper back, "Well, it is the road to the fourth biggest city."

"Oh the City of Dawn. I hear they have a lot of talented magic users!"

I roll my eyes at Dia, "My mom could take all those stupid greedy pigs with her hands tied behind her back. Hell, my own magic can put to shame a Dawn magic poser."

She gasps, covering her mouth in shock at my words.

Lucas gives me this stern look, "Either way. Let's get supplies and head out."

I shrug and get up walking back to the guild but he turns me right back around to the market square.

"You can talk to that one guy later."

"Dammit!" I cross my arms and plant my feet, but he sadly knows how to use levitation magic.

RIN

"Ugh, I coulda had him Lucas! I coulda gotten myself a really hot boyfriend. Or just a hot fling at least."

Lucas gives me an exasperated look, "Your still on about that? We are 16 anyways. He looked like he was in his 20s."

"So? It's not like he'd get in trouble. Hell, my cousin Jin is 16 and married to some 20 year old land owner."

He rolls his eyes and Dia pats his back sympathetically. She looks to me, "What I think he's saying is go for someone around our age."

I cross my arms and rolls my eyes, "I think I can go for whoever I like."

I walk faster so I can pass them. Dia gives Lucas a sympathetic smile and shrugs, "I tried dude," she mouths to him and he gives her a sheepish smile.

Lucas stares at Rin as she walks off in front of us in a huff. Dia walks beside me, "You know she will come around eventually."

"Is it that obvious that I like her?"

She nods and I can't help but think back to when I saw her.

her pink long hair blowing in the wind and how she didn't back down when that man tried to pick a fight with her. Or how hot she looked while she fought those monsters at the exam.

I let put an audible swoon and Dia gives me a knowing smirk, "Thinking about her?"

"She's just so amazingly cool and so beautiful. And when she fought at the exam? It was like watching a pro...she was simply divine to watch in action..." I trail off just focusing on every little thing about her that gives me tingles.

"### Help! Someone please help us!" we hear someone cry out by a nearby field. We had just barely reached the gate to the small village. I run towards the cries for help, Lucas and Dia right behind me.

I reach the scene first and see that it's the ogre we were hired to kill, had one of the villagers kids. I spring into action, shooting spikes from the ground straight towards the back of the ogre.

It yells in pain, whipping it's head in my direction. It drops the kid and runs towards me, about to swing a heavy hand down on me, but is stop by a big floating blue shield, "I got your back Rin!"

"I coulda blocked that!" I yell back at him, but am angered when Dia takes a big slash to the ogre's leg, toppling it.

"Hey its MY kill guys!"

"Don't be stupid, we are a team," Dia yells as she takes another slash outta the ogre. Lucas fires arrows into the monster's chest, but only manages to slow it down a bit. The creature grabs a hold of Dia and throws her onto Lucas' feet.

It swings it's large hand towards me, but I dodge and run up behind it and slam it into the ground with a kick backed with my magic, giving Lucas time to shoot more arrows into the ogre's face. It yells out in pain just as Dia deals the final blow. With her sword she deals a blow to his heart.

I wipe the sweat from my face and walk up to the woman and her kid, "You two ok?"

"We are now! Thank you very much!" The woman hugs me tightly and I awkwardly pat her back. Her kid is staring at me with wonder in his eyes, "Thank you so much miss!" I give him a warm smile.

"There must be a way we can repay you for your help? That ogre has been picking us off and our herd for months."

I rub the back of my neck, "Well, we were hired to kill it so we will be getting paid for it anyways."

"But, yall must at least let us feed you and house you for the night, the capitol is far, and the closest mission guild is in the City of Dawn."

I look to Lucas and he shrugs, not knowing what to say. Before I could look to Dia she blurts out, "Yes, that sounds like an amazing idea! Thank you very much ma'am!"

Before Lucas or I could say anything the boy takes my hand in his and excitedly drags me towards the village.

"I wanna show you around the town!"

He looks back to his mom, "We will be back before dinner!"

I look back and I see Lucas has a very angry look on his face.

LUCAS

"### Who the hell does that kid think he is!" Dia pats my back and apologizes to the woman.

"That's alright. I guess there is no stopping people these days." The mother sighs.

After talking to Dia and her mother for some time, we all decided to grab a bite to eat since we all have had a hard day today.

We walk into the town square and look at the shops where we can eat at.

She takes us to her little shop and has one of her cooks make us something.

I pick at my food thinking about that little brat that took Rin to show her around.

Dia notices and she hands me a piece of angel food cake to cheer me up. I smile at her and take a bite.

The sweet taste fills my mouth and I groan happily.

Dia gives me an incredulous look, "You are such a child!"

"No I'm not, it tastes so good." I respond and take another bite.

She snorts, "Oh yeah?"

I nod, taking another bite, "It does. Like really really delicious."

She smiles and I see Mia, the mom of that child, looking at us, probably trying to figure out why we're smiling.

Dia stands up and pulls me with her, "Come on! Let's explore!"

I stand up and follow Dia, but I stop for a second when I notice someone following us.

I whip around but the person was gone. I look around searching the room for who it was but, everyone was sitting down or just going about their day.

"what's wrong Lucas?" Dia says a concerned look on her face.

I shake my head, "I-Its nothing, I thought I just saw something out of the corner of my eye."

RIN

"Oh! This is my favorite place to hang!"

I roll my eyes, tired of this boy dragging me around. He looks to be fourteen, now that I look closely, he has green eyes.

He gives me a big grin and I blush as I think he noticed me staring.

"Wanna make this a date?" He says with a wink.

I rip my hand from his grip, "Hehe, I don't know, I'm a very busy girl ya'know? My team members are probably worried about me. Oh and your mom is probably wondering where we are too!"

He pours on the charm, grabbing a nearby bouque, "C'mon I'm sure my mom is fine with me staying out late with a strong beautiful woman like you."

"I'm 16," I say in a flat voice.

"Like I said, beautiful young woman!" He hands the bouque to me and hooks his arm in mine, taking me into his favorite hangout place.

When we get there we sit across from each other on a barstool, the place is dimly lit and filled with chatter, laughter and loud music. A few girls look over at us when they spot us, they glare at me and turn to each other, stealing glares at me and giggling to each other.

Justin doesn't notice, but I sure do. He must be pretty popular with the village girls. I smirk, wanting to be petty, I steal a kiss from him.

He happily kisses me back turning into a make-out. I hear the scrape of chairs as I'm guessing the two girls are leaving, but before they could leave I open one eye and levitate a drink over both their heads, and soak them in their own drinks. Satisfied now, with my payback. They start screeching and yelling, running out of the tavern. Justin pulls away curious to see what happened, but he was too late, they had already left.

"What happened? Who was yelling?"

"Oh two girls got their drinks spilled on them by some rando," I say with a smirk.

"Oh, well that sucks," he says with a shrug.

He then goes in for another kiss but thankfully his food arrives.

"There yall go." The waitress places his food in front of him and gives me my drink.

"Let me know if yall need anything else!"

I drink from my cup, and notice he had ordered me an alcoholic drink. I frown at him, " I can't drink this. I have to be up early morning to go off to Dawn City."

"C'mon one drink and then we can leave. Promise."

I roll my eyes but drink my drink. He starts talking about himself and his simple village life. I listen with my cheek rested on my hand as I listen to him, bored already. My vision blurs abit but focus for a shirt second, noticing a male staring at me. I perk up, startling my "date".

"What? what's wrong Rin?"

I focus my vision, but it's like the guy wasn't there. "Uhm...nothing...I just thought I saw someone..."

He laughs, "Well there are people around here silly."

I laugh nervously, "Y-Yeah, totally, how silly of me."

I can't shake off the feeling like I'm being watched, but why, and by who.

I decide to put it aside and continue to listen to him ramble about the history of the town. His words are almost incomprehensible.

I finish my drink and set the empty cup on the table. "Thanks for the drink, it was delicious!" I say politely as I slide off the stool.

Justin grabs my wrist, "Hey wait-"

I pull my hand away quickly, "Somethings come up and I can't stay, but thanks again for the lovely conversation, sorry!" I give him a wave and rush past him. I push through the crowd trying to find an exit but I keep bumping into people.

I feel a hand catch my wrist, I whip around about to punch a fool, when I notice it's Justin.

"Hey, I was gonna say, we are going to my family's place so I'll walk with you." He says holding onto my wrist.

"Okay, I'm sorry I rushed off without you," I apologize softly, looking anywhere but at him.

He lets go of my wrist and wraps his arm around my shoulder, pulling me close to him, "No, it's ok. Now, let's head to my place."

We arrive to his house and I'm surprised it's pretty big. He must be one of the rich ones in the village.

"Welcome to my home, sweet home!" He says with a flourish.

I take my hand from his, and rush to the door, wanting to see my teammates. They probably hand more fun than I did with Justin. All he did was ramble on about himself and show me around his village. I burst in and see that only Justin's mom is home.

"Where's Lucas and Dia?"

Mia looks up from her ledger she was writing in, "Oh, they went out for a night on the town."

I pout, "They went without me..."

"Don't worry dear, they won't be long and will be back soon. Just enjoy yourself tonight with Justin."

"I just came back from spending time with Justin, I was hoping to turn in for the night. I only asked about them because we got to leave first thing in the morning."

She shrugs, " I'll tell them when I see them come in, why don't you go wash up and head to our guest room."

I nod and Justin shows me where the bathroom is and where the guest room is.

I thank him and head back to the bathroom, I take out some clothes from my travel bag, and set them aside on the counter.

I sigh, warm and refreshed from my shower. I dry my hair as I walk towards the door to the quest bedroom.

"Rin! I missed you!" Lucas practically yells as he tackle hugs me. I push at him, Dia tugging at him too, "Sorry, he had a bit too much to drink," she says sheepishly as we finally get him to let go.

He's a sentimental mess, sobbing and saying how much he loves us and how he is so greatful that we are his teammates. I just smile to myself and put my backpack by theirs.

Soon enough Lucas passes out on the floor. I levitate him to his cot, and head towards mine, "Hey..." I hear Dia say softly, "uhm...you know, I really hope, we have more fun nights like this..."

I look at her with a weirded out look, "I'm just saying is, I enjoyed today, even if you weren't with us...it felt like we are getting along..."

"Aren't we always getting along?"

She rubs the back of her neck, "I don't know...sometimes you feel distant..."

I blink at her, dumbfounded. I open my mouth but close it. I had been a bit stand-offish. I've just been so caught up in myself and...my mom.

"Yeah...sorry, I've had a lot on my mind..."

She gives me a small smile, "It's ok...but you know you can confide in us. We are your teammates after all." With that she turns on her side and heads to sleep.

I lay on my back staring up at the ceiling. "Mom..." I say under my breath, the inky darkness consumes me as I drift off to sleep.
