The Maid And Her Queen (Draft)

Author's note (sorry! But please read the first bit! thank you!)

Hello everyone!

阴月于亮夜 [cloudy moon amidst bright sky] here!

This profile picture is not my art! Credits to the artist! If you might know the artist please go support them, and if you (the artist) have any complaints about my using of your art, please notify or tell me immediately! I will try to fix my mistake! Thank you!

I am a short story writer wanting to rant out feelings and try new things on Mangatoon!

Hopefully there will be no expectations for the stories I write (I don't like expectations 555).

I am always open to constructive criticism and suggestions in the comments section!

Updating dates may be harder to work with, so please be patient! Thank you!

My Chinese is not all that good so please tell me if I ever get anything wrong or mis-explain anything!

(even though I do not write in Chinese, I can speak, read and understand somewhat)

If there are any complaints about what I write please tell me in the comments section!

I always try to keep my works friendly and do not intend any hate to be directed to certain readers.

All of my works will contain an Author's note as the first chapter, so I will try to keep the important information in front so you all can skip the rest of the Author's note!

This story is about a lonely queen who falls in love but will need to make difficult choices and a maid who will need to endure many things.

This story is written in third person and is very short (only about a few chapters).

This is also my first time writing on a site so please don't mind that!

☾ ☾ ☾  ❀  ☽ ☽ ☽

Since I will need quite a few words for only one chapter, how about I tell all of you some things about myself (all that comes after you may skip)?

My stage name is 阴月于亮夜, which directly translates to: cloudy/dark moon amidst/in a/the bright (night) sky

(ehehe) There are a lot of translations for one word (in Chinese) because it will depend on how you would want to look at it.

It took me a lot of time to think up this name (555) because if I were to pick a stage name that connects to what I liked now, if I ever 'grew out' of it, I would be stuck with a name connected to what I liked then! (ehhhh)

Currently I enjoy reading Danmei (耽美), listening to Vocaloid, playing badminton, and average hobbies like reading, writing, Netflix, piano, drawing and lowering my friends' self-esteem.

There are many other things I would like to say but instead I will spam because I have nothing else to write. . .

对不起,得罪了。 。 。555

Maybe I might copy and paste a story written from my elementary years and see how that works out (oh no)?

The legend of Turtle Island:

Long long ago, an island was formed in Loch ness lake, and was inhabited by the species of colorful turtles. One day they found a mythical and mysterious blue - white stone. It was the magic stone of wisdom (as they called it), and the colorful turtles felt some kind of magical aura from it. So they made a ritual circle out of fuzzy white stuff around a tree they called the summoning tree and lined the circle with candles that had been washed up shore. Before leaving, the Stone of Wisdom suddenly lit up with a blue - white glow, and the ritual spells appeared on its surface while dimming, so the turtles gathered around the ritual circle. They chanted the ritual spell shone on the Stone of Wisdom:

Ew nommus eht lacitsym onibla elt rut!

Suddenly, the ritual circle around the tree of summoning glowed pure white, atop the tree lay a pure albino turtle, with the Stone of Wisdom on top of its back. “Thank you for freeing me, kind - hearted colorful turtles. I am the Grand Master Turtle, the turtle that controls luck, wishes, and most mystical animals. Since you have freed me from the stone, I will bestow on you a gift.”

Then the Grand Master Turtle motioned towards the coconut tree that grew beside the summoning tree. A silver ring appeared on one of the leaves. “Each night, whenever a full moon rises in the month of July, one of these rings will appear on a leaf of this coconut tree. Every time this happens, a colorful turtle will be chosen and its wish will be granted; but now, I have to leave, however I will come back and visit sometimes,” Just like that, the Grand Master Turtle disappeared, leaving the ring and the colorful turtles.

As far as we know, they are still wishing to this day.

The legend of Loch Ness lake:

Since you already know the legend of Turtle Island, I will now tell you the legend of the lake it resides in.

Once upon a time, there was a Loch Ness monster.

It wasn’t exactly a ‘mean and scary’ monster, but it would be hostile to people that had attacked it. It lived in a small lake called Lake Scary (ironic huh?). One day, a young scuba diver went diving in Lake Scary and got lost. The Loch ness monster then found the scuba diver’s helmet and put it on its tail for decoration (would you blame it?).

When it emerged later that day, a wizard that was passing by saw the helmet on the Loch ness monster’s tail and thought that it had eaten the scuba diver, so the wizard attacked the Loch ness monster thinking he was doing the right thing. The Loch ness monster was scared and attacked the wizard trying to defend itself. The wizard took this as a threat and cast a spell on it, freezing it in a glacier.

2 thousand years later, the ice had melted (thanks to global warming) into a lake, now called Loch ness Lake, after the monster.

A hundred years later, some of the water had evaporated, or flowed downstream towards the ocean. Some land then peaked out and Turtle Island was created. After the Grand Master Turtle visited, it saw the lonely Loch ness monster, and gave it some friends.

Out of the air dropped 3 whales of the Indigo whale species down to join. Then out of the water grew the mystical healing Tube Plants that could heal and/or fix any problems you had, physically or in life. The colorful Turtles helped to care for these plants, and the Grand Master Turtle promised to give the turtles a present the next time it visited.

By now, most humans had heard about Loch ness Lake and the magical wish ring tree that resided on Turtle Island. Hence being the humans they are, they tried to obtain that ring by attacking the turtles. The Loch ness monster and Indigo whales tried to protect them, but failed. When the Grand Master Turtle visited again, it cast a spell around turtle island, obscuring it in a pale white mist.

The GMT then called upon the secret white gem fish to protect Loch ness Lake, and allow no humans to ever find this place.

We have been lucky enough to see enough of it to build a replica and write a legend about it, but as far as we know, nobody has been able to find Loch ness Lake ever since --- or have they?

sorry sorry! This story was written by my friends and I back then so please excuse the spelling and grammar mistakes!

If you all had read up to this, thank you thank you! The actual story will start now!

Chapter 1

Once upon a time there was a queen.

She was no ordinary queen, for she was a young one with a hyper personality. No one could deal with her.  She would always be hyped up and cheerful, chaotic wherever she went, etc.

Alongside her was no one. Nobody could stand being beside her for 10 minutes, let alone rule along with her. Her parents were lucky, being born into the royal family, and slowly she had ascended to the position of a queen at 17. Considering the perks of being in charge, the queen spent her days doing what she willed, having fun, and chatting with a maid she adored very much in particular.

But this didn’t mean she didn’t work.

When she did, her work was never rushed, never lazily written or done. She was an earnest worker who had fun while working, sometimes messing around a bit, but still an earnest worker overall. A queen leading a kingdom with a bright future. Then again, since no one had ever put up with her frequent cheerfulness and excessive chaoticness, she was left alone, in her chambers inspecting laws, ordering problems going around, etc. This would be rather tiring work.

And so she was lonely.

To fight this loneliness and to find the one she was meant to be with, she proposed a contest: “Whoever can complete the challenges I bestow onto thou shall earn the honor of ruling alongside me.”

Many people were hesitant about being alongside the queen with the hyper personality, but the thought of becoming a royal got to many of them. The queen did not specify what type of people or which people of certain statuses were allowed to participate, so many people showed up at the arena (this is my story i name things what i want to name them) on the date.

This is where we will turn our focus from our admired but loved not queen to a simple commoner, a demigirl the same age as our queen, who had applied to work in her castle.

This maid worked in the queen’s castle for a strange reason. She was born with wonderful parents, always treating her wonderfully, but she did not know how to love back. She thought love was only a few words, that it was just appreciating each other and hugging and kissing etc. And since she did not know how to work, she decided to apply for a low position in the queen’s castle, to learn how to.

She learned how to cook, clean, and appreciate her friends.

Even though this maid did not know how to love back, she knew how to love herself and love someone else. She knew what it meant to love someone, that feeling in your heart. When she heard the queen was holding a contest to see who was worthy to earn the position of ruling beside her, and almost anyone, who were willing, were allowed to enter, she was ecstatic! Rushing back to her small chambers she quickly got herself ready and hurried to the arena

During the competition, the queen found someone who particularly caught her eye. It was a person whom she had seen before, in the castle, the maid! Back then they had helped her with some of the problems she’d had and they’d had a good time chatting until dark. It was then the queen fell in love.

Her parents would never approve of her marrying or ruling with someone of a lower status, but the fact that she held this contest was that anyone she herself found worthy enough could be with her, commoners and royals alike could compete and win.

Now that the queen had seen her love again, she immediately halted the challenges and walked up to the maid. When the queen confessed her love, everyone was shocked!

The queen is confessing to a maid? What about this maid caught her majesty’s eye? Why is it that the queen is confessing and not the other way around? Later on, the queen became genuinely happy with someone she loved beside her, and the maid likewise.

However . . . this romance did not last forever as it did in fairytales.

Chapter 2

The people in the kingdom all heard about the queen with her challenges and the maid who won her favor.

The other contestants who participated in the arena took this loss lightly. They believed the queen had finally found someone worthy of her and loved them dearly, now leading the kingdom into the future that was bright as a sky full of stars.

Though some other contestants did not do as the latter did, they took the loss quite heavily, believing the maid was not worthy of the queen, and being the narcissists as they were, thought too highly of themselves, and started rumors.

Some contestants were royals, so word traveled fast.

Many rumors started, stating how the maid had plotted and schemed her way into her majesty’s favor. Or how the maid was actually a witch and used a love potion to cast a spell on her majesty. Or how the maid only accepted her majesty’s confession because she wanted to rule the kingdom along with her.

This was all transferred to the ears of the queen, who became enraged after hearing about this. The maid, although a commoner, had a pure heart and did not scheme and plot. The maid had put complete trust and faith in the queen, telling her all of their secrets and things about them.

Because things were getting rough, there had even been ambushes to try to eliminate the maid, the queen decided to make a choice. She would reject (dump) the maid in front of everyone, confirming there was no relationship between them, then go and ‘invite’ a prince she was close with to rule beside her, creating an illusion that she had a new partner and ‘found out’ what the maid’s ‘dark intentions’ were.

The only loophole in this plan was considering the feelings of the maid.

The queen contemplated on telling the maid about her plan or not, and if she decided not to, and broke their heart, what would happen to them? The queen fell asleep due to pure exhaustion , and woke up unfortunately forgetting what she was contemplating throughout the night and carried on with her plan.

The maid was shocked.

To see her one true love tell her she had lost interest in her and dumped her in front of everyone then tell her that she had gotten together with someone else, a male even! Was just the load of everything finding a way to fall directly onto her shoulders! Wasn’t it? Out of all the-

The maid cut herself off. Even though she was sad and a bit angry, she shouldn't hold a grudge over such a thing she considered trivial.

It was a miracle she wasn’t kicked out of the castle.

Now, the queen distanced herself from the maid, greeting her politely every time she saw her but never engaging in conversation as she used to, leaving the maid a bit depressed and dejected.

Therefore, she locked herself in her chambers, refusing to come out, in there reading god-knows-what, until she decided to come out one day after many months of unneeded seclusion.

The maid felt numb. She shed no tears for she knew this couldn’t be true. Instead she started having personality changes. Whenever anyone saw her sitting alone in a corner looking down, they would come over and ask what was wrong. Then she would immediately laugh a bit, smile, and say she liked corners and how it felt safe to have something behind your back.

She was lying.

She didn’t know how the queen was doing.

One day she received a letter. Written from the queen explaining the whole predicament including a note apologizing and confessing her love yet again. The maid felt overjoyed! All this sadness and secret loving had come to an end! She quickly wrote back explaining the situation from her side and accepted her queen’s love. Entrusting her letter to a knight to deliver to , her heart felt so light it might’ve soared into the air if not for the sake of living and breathing said air.

She could finally be reunited with her love again! Or not.

Since the incident of the maid rumored to be a witch who cast a spell over the queen had still yet to cease, the maid’s family was forced out of the kingdom. The maid was no different. She was yanked from the castle (now? seriously?) and physically thrown out of the kingdom gates, left with her family to fend for themselves in an entirely new kingdom far far away. . .
