Wonder Woods

Holly's here

The alarm clocks scream blared through the small room. The body in the bed flung up. she slammed her palm down on the alarm clock, shutting it off. Her long flaming hair hung on her shoulders effortlessly. She sluggishly pushed herself out the bed and onto her feet.

She reached her arms into the air, hearing soft cracks from her back. A deep breath exited her throat. She looked at the clock she had recently silenced and yelped in shock. The girl grabbed her phone to see a short message stating 'I'll be at your house at 7:30 to pick you up.' the clock read 7:15.

The girl groaned as she rushed to prepare herself for the long laboring day ahead of her. She brushed out her straight fiery hair and applied a thin layer of makeup onto her pale spotted face. she wore a black shirt with a brown coat over it. She put on some black leggings with some ankle boots. To top it off she added a brown hat to match the jacket.

She smiled into the mirror as she grabbed her bag and made her way to the door. 7:30 hit the clock and just as the message stated a girl was standing outside it. She had short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. The girl was wearing a blue sweater and some jenes with it. The look on the girls face was nothing but joy when her eyes landed on the red head.

"You're ready on time?" the blonde haird girl asked in suprise. The redhead rolled her eyes, but smirked. "Yeah. Not like I only woke up 15 minutes ago and had to rush to get decent looking!" she giggled out. "Again? Why is your alarm so late?" the other girl asked. "I programmed it last year when I didnt have to get up so early and never decided to fix it." the freckled girl explained, shrugging her shoulders carelessly.

Her friend simply shook her head with a playful sigh. "I swear, if I didnt keep an eye on you youd never be on time for anything." "For sure, Mitsy." the read head smiled. "Now common! I came so early so we could go to the cafe. We haven't gotten to go in awhile!" Mitsy complain grabbing onto the other girls arm.

She was right. they hadn't been to the small cafe in a few weeks and they usually went every day. School had just gotten so extreme over the past few weeks that it was hard for the girls to find any time for themselves.

"well then let's go!" the girl happily exclaimed. They made their way down the street, hardly having a care in the world. The wind bit at their showing skin as they walked in silence. "Hey, Mitsy, what are we doing in school today?" the girl asked. Mitsy looked at her with concerned eyes. "you really dont remember what today is?"

The red head thought for a moment but nothing would come to mind, so she shrugged. "Holly, its remembrance day." Mitsy spoke, almost in a whisper like she didnt want anyone else to hear. Holly groaned, suddenly dreading the day even more then before.

"Can you at least stay awake this year? I doubt they've forgiven you for what you did last year." Mitsy mumbled. "what? I cant help that I was bored out of my mind. It's the same thing every year and of course it gets tiring to hear." Holly vented more about how "stupid" the day was going to be as they made their way up to the cafe.

They stood in the line, Holly having her arms crossed in aggravation while Mitsy looked like a happy child. The sparkle in her eyes almost made Holly laugh. As they approached the county Mitsy bounced on her heels.

"what can I get you two?" the man behind the counter asked, his voice rough and raspy. "I'll take a Mocha caramel swirl. She'll have a rainbow cloud madness." Holly spoke for the two of them. the man nodded and they waited patiently, or at least Holly did.

"what's taking them so long?!" The blonde haird girl snapped. "you know were not their only customers right now and we still have awhile before we have to be at the school so chill out." Holly explained, leaning against the cold wall. Mitsy huffed, but became quiet until the drinks came out.

Dispite Mitsy clearly being happy about going to the cafe, a look of dread loomed over her face. Holly watched her for awhile hoping she wouldn't have to ask what was troubling her friend. Mitsy held her brightly colored drink in her hands and she skipped her feet across the ground.

"worried?" Holly finally spoke, realizing the smaller girl would remain absent. Mitsy shrugged, taking another large sip from her cup. After a few moments Mitsy sighed. "I hate remembrance day. The poor family's just... it's so sad." she trailed off as if not wanting to fully come clean about her troubles.

Holly had always hated Remembrance day. A yearly holiday, if that's what you could even call it. Holly tried to care, honestly, but it was hard to when the stories were so... outlandish.

"itll just be like every year before now. you aught to be used to it by now." Holly spoke, sounding meaner then she meant to. This caused Mitsy to look away from the other girl. Holly flinched at herself and sighed. "I-I mean... even if it were different, what are we to do? we cant help." Holly said awkwardly, trying to sound more compassionate.

Before another word was said they arrived at the school. Holly grimaced at the large sign that seemed to screw in the holiday it was. she dragged herself in, mumbling curses under her breath. it was going to be a long day that was for sure.

But not a normal day.
