Ian
** why do i feel like my cheeks is hot...**
Ian suddenly woke up from his peaceful deep sleep with the sun radiating on his face. He groaned in annoyance because of the sudden heat that burned against his skin, which was responsible for disturbing his sleep.
Ian
arghhh...(softly groans)
Ian
i want to sleep more....
Ian
(about to sleep again)
BRRRTT!! BRRRTT!! BRRRTT!!
Ian
arghh..(groans as he stops his alarm)
Ian
i hate this...(mumbles)
After whining, he then immediately got up from his desk and closed the curtains as he just realized that he had to go to class early so that he could give the dozens of assignments that he agreed to do.
Ian
(sighs) i shouldn't have agreed to this...(mumbles)
Ian
but then, i did, what a great life i have...
He eventually afterwards took all of the paperworks into his bag before he went and fetched his towel and toothbrush, before entering his apartment's small bathroom to do his usual morning routine.
He was currently living in a small, cheap apartment called Gustav's Inn for a while because it was the only place he could afford. He had no money to get a bigger and better apartment, but he was a hardworking man, so probably after he earned enough money, he could afford one. What would you expect when you're just working at a coffee shop, right?
After some time, he eventually finished his bathroom routine, and so he then proceeded to wear some decent clothes he could find before walking toward his small yet neat apartment kitchen to cook some of his usual breakfast meals.
Ian
egg rice would be good today...(smiles)
And so, just as he said, he soon afterwards took some eggs, rice, and other ingredients for the dish before cooking his morning meal. Cooking was his hobby—it made him smile and happy. He enjoyed cooking just like how his grandmother loved it.
Ian
it smells good, now I'm really hungry...(smiles)
He then afterwards took a bowl where he plated his egg rice before digging into his undeniably delicious breakfast.
After eating, he soon washed his bowl and utensils before getting his glasses from his desk—but not before he took out his contacts. He wiped the lenses of his glasses first before carefully putting them on.
In fact, the glasses were his grandmother's gift to him back when he turned fifteen on his birthday. That’s why he always keeps his glasses carefully, in fear of breaking them, since it's the only thing now that reminds him of his late grandmother. Besides, he couldn’t afford a new one—he didn’t have that much money, after all.
Ian
oh crap, I'm going to be late if i won't go now!
He then dashed to get his bag and keys before running outside of his apartment. He first locked the door before going downstairs toward the building's exit.
It was so early in the morning that there were only a few vehicles he could see, and it made him feel a little bit of sympathy for himself for waking up this early—even though he could’ve been laying in bed right now.
Ian
** this is what you deserve Ian, you made your parents disappointed so you deserve this...**
Ian
i deserve this...(mumbles)
He breathed heavily before proceeding to walk toward his school—not to mention the almost one and a half hours of walking just to get there. He had no money to pay for the bus or an Uber because he didn’t want to spend that much.
He thought that if he could still walk, he should take the opportunity to save more money since his daily expenses were already too much for him to handle. On the bright side, he could lose some weight, you know.
To pass the time, he listened to music as he walked past buildings, houses, forests, and even some abandoned, creepy structures—just so he could attend his classes. He was a good student, that’s for sure, actually a straight-A student, which was another reason why he was often picked on. They called him a “nerd”—a word used for brainy, boring students. But Ian ignored it all. It’s not like paying attention to their insults would make the situation any better, so he just let it be.
And after an hour of walking, Ian had finally arrived at his school, Northern High School.
Ian
huff huff....Finally...
Ian
** anyway, Northern Highschool, here i come..** (walks towards the entrance with a small smile)

Ian ignored all the usual uncomfortable stares from the other students since they only made him feel more broken. He had a weak heart—after just a few insults, he could literally cry because of how fragile he was.
Ian
** when do they stop starring at me that way ?**
Ian
** yes, I'm ugly and fat, but why do they have to look at me that way...**
He asked himself quietly, not even knowing the real reason. It was true, though—every single day, every single morning, other students gave him looks he couldn’t really explain.
Ian
** I'll just ignore them...**
And as soon as he said that to himself, suddenly one of the ‘many’ students who picked on him approached him, surprising the boy in the process.
Madison
hey, fatto....(cold)
Madison
where's the thing that i told you to do ?
Ian
u-uhm, h-here...(hurriedly pass to her paperwork)
Ian
**darn it, stop stuttering Ian…**
Madison
good...(smirks as she snatches the papers)
Madison
(inspects the assignment)
Madison
did you make sure that all of this is correct ? (Looks at him uninterested)
Ian
u-umm...y-yeah, dont worry...
Madison
hmmm...(again rechecked the assignment)
Ian
**Did she really think that a straight-A student like me, can stand on having a single wrong answer?**
Ian
**Well, maybe because she might be thinking that I'm plotting something on her assignment because she picks on me?**
Madison
good work fattie...(smiles sarcastically)
Ian
(hurt from the insult)
After that, the girl named Madison soon left Ian alone in the hallway while he was lost in his thoughts. Ian wondered how someone like Madison could make fun of him. She was literally a gorgeous girl—every single guy couldn’t withstand her charms; she was a complete goddess. But perhaps her heart wasn’t as beautiful as her appearance.
Random Girl
hey Ian, do you have my assignment ?
Random Girl
Yeah, did you finish mine ?
Random Boy
yeah me too! Where is it?
And just as he expected, many random students immediately came up to him and handed over the assignments they had given him. Ian didn’t even know them—they were just some random students using him for their own benefit. It might have been a good idea to decline their requests, but Ian just couldn’t say no. Maybe it was because he didn’t want to see anyone look disappointed in him.
The moment when his own parents dumped him because of his chosen sexuality kept flashing in his mind. It made him imagine the looks they gave him—disappointment and disgust. With that in his thoughts, he kept calling himself stupid. He shouldn’t have told them he liked men; he shouldn’t have disappointed them. It was like he wanted to turn back time and just live with the secret, but he couldn’t. There was no turning back now.
Ian
(realized what's happening)
Charlotte
hey...(smiles slightly)
Ian
o-oh I-I'm s-sorry...(flustered)
Charlotte
no its alright...
Ian
U-Uhmm, d-did I disturb y-you ?
Charlotte
(chuckles) No not really, I just want to check on you since I saw you here standing still, as if you were frozen or some sort...(smiles)
Ian’s face turned red with embarrassment, making the girl he thought was named Charlotte chuckle.
Charlotte
Is there something wrong that you're thinking that deeply?
Ian
u-um, i-it's nothing, I'm o-okay now...(still embarrassed)
Charlotte
Oh, okay then (smiles)
Charlotte
I have to go, stay safe Ian, and try to relax…(smiles while walking away)
Ian
(just nods while blushing)
Ian
** waaahhh, it's been quite sometime since the last time she talked to me, what an angel...** (smiles)
Charlotte was the only student who was kind to him. He didn’t know why, but maybe she was just a really good person. Every time he got injured, she was right there; every time he had cuts or bruises, she helped him out. Those were just two of the many reasons why Ian thought Charlotte was such a good person.
Ian
** i never said thank you to her...**
Ian
(sighs) maybe next time..(mumbles)
After that thought, he proceeded to go to his locker to get the notes and books he would need for his first class. Except for the disgusted looks other students gave him, he was actually at peace while walking to his locker—until someone decided to break that peace by saying some cruel words to him.
Random Girl
look, the ugly pig has arrived...(laughs quietly)
She and her group immediately laughed quietly, even though Ian could clearly hear them. His heart clenched in pain as his eyes began to fill with tears, but he desperately tried to fight back his emotions.
Ian
** don't mind them, don't mind them, don't mind them...**
Ian
(sighs) stay calm...(whispers to himself)
Arriving at his locker, he then fetched his books and notes before unlocking it. He was carefully reaching for some of his things when suddenly a loud sound invaded his ears, making him immediately look toward where it came from. Surprisingly, the sound had come from a fist punching the locker next to his.
The locker was surprisingly in bad shape, the impact so strong it wrecked the door, making it useless at this point. Strong and aggressive breaths fanned across his exposed nape, sending unsettling shivers all over Ian’s body.
Ian
** I-I'm doomed..** (thought nervously)
Hunter
You....(says venomously)
Ian
(trembles) ** i-it's H-Hunter...**
Hunter
you're a dead meat...(whispers in anger)

He was the most painfully attractive person Ian had ever seen. Ian didn’t know why, but he was actually attracted to that àsshòlè—probably because of his looks—but he had no clue when or what exactly he liked about him.
Hunter is a bad guy—he skips classes, bullies other students, especially Ian, and is violent. Those are just three of the many red flags he shows. He’s the school’s quarterback in football, which earns him bonus points with the little-brained girls all over campus.
Hunter was more than just a bad guy—he was one of the most popular students on campus. Half of his fame came from his bad behavior: skipping classes, bullying, and stirring up trouble wherever he went. But the other half came from how flawlessly he played his role as the star quarterback of the football team. His athletic skill earned him respect and admiration, making him almost untouchable.
With that reputation, he could bait any girl he wanted—and even boys, if he chose to. Who wouldn’t want to be with someone like him? Well, Ian was definitely not one of them. Mainly because Hunter always targeted him with relentless bullying and cruel jokes, making any thought of admiration impossible.
Ian
**d-did i do something wrong?**
Ian
**I can feel him that he's really mad...**
Ian
** I've never seen him this angry before, what do i do, I'm scared...** (mentally crying)
Hunter
turn the fúck around....(whispers venomously)
Ian
I-I...(stammers nervously)
Hunter
I said, turn around...(pissed)
Ian
(tears starting to form in his eyes)
Ian
**Please don't cry please don't cry please don't cry...** (slowly turning around)
As soon as Ian faced Hunter, he suddenly realized how incredibly close they were—literally inches apart. He slowly looked up, trembling, trying to meet the man’s eyes, only to immediately regret it the moment their piercing gazes locked.
Hunter
Why the hell did you write your name on my test paper...
Ian
**Oh god, how could I be that stupid!! **
Ian
I-I, d-d-don't know wha–
Hunter
stop stuttering for fùck's sake!!
Hunter
just tell me why did you fùcking do that!!
Ian
(shaking uncontrollably)
Ian
I-I d-don't know...(about to cry)
Hunter’s anger was so fierce that Ian could see the veins bulging on his forehead, pulsing with raw fury. Ian knew exactly why Hunter was furious—he’d made a careless mistake. Ian had stupidly written his own name on Hunter’s test paper, and the teacher must’ve realized Hunter hadn’t actually done the test himself—that he’d handed it off to Ian to answer.
With that knowledge weighing on him, Ian’s mind raced with silent prayers, terrified that Hunter would finally lose control and hurt him. For a tense moment, nothing happened. Ian cautiously opened his eyes, only to find Hunter waiting, his expression dark and unreadable.
Without warning, Hunter’s fist shot forward like a striking snake, aimed straight at the side of Ian’s face.
The force of the punch slammed Ian back against his locker, the metal cracking and warping under the impact—half destroyed and groaning from the blow. Ian’s breath hitched as shock and fear washed over him, draining the color from his face until he was nearly ghostly pale. The intensity of his terror was so palpable that even Hunter’s own friends exchanged uneasy glances, convinced Ian must have been knocked out cold.
Clark
He looks fúcking pale!!
Hunter
shut up Clark! (Snarls)
Diego
don't interrupt him, he's really mad...(whispers at Clark)
Clark
yeah, I'm kinda worried on that nerd...(whispers back)
Hunter
Now speak...geek (venomous)
Ian was still trembling uncontrollably, his fear of facing Hunter growing stronger by the second—he knew Hunter was seriously angry right now. As the confrontation escalated, more and more students slowly gathered, filling the hallway with curious eyes and hushed whispers. The crowd’s silent attention made Ian’s heartbeat skyrocket, his nerves and fear tightening their grip on him like a vise.
Ian
(looking everywhere while breathing rapidly)
Hunter tried to get Ian’s attention, but he failed miserably—Ian was caught in the grip of a full-blown panic attack. Surprisingly, despite his usual anger and toughness, Hunter felt a flicker of concern. This was the first time he’d ever seen Ian like this, so vulnerable and overwhelmed, and it unsettled him more than he expected.
Hunter
Hey!!! (Shakes him hard)
After gritting his jaw, Hunter surprised himself by roughly grabbing Ian’s hand and dragging him away from the crowded hallway. Ian was utterly stupefied—understandably so—since it was his first time experiencing any normal physical contact from the man, and on top of that, he was Still trapped in the throes of his panic.
Hunter
(stops and releases Ian on his grip)
Hunter
now, you're coming with me...(stern)
Hunter didn’t answer. Instead, he smirked as he opened the basement door. Ian followed silently, and as the dim light swallowed the room, his mind began to flash with shadows of a dark memory creeping back to the surface.
Ian
i-it's d-dark...(whispers shakily)
