The world was blank, drowned by sobbing that echoed through my mind asking to wake but I just remained still. Memories fled through my mind as I remembered the dreadful night like it just happened and never ended. Not being able to focus I fell to sleep again in a warm embrace that held me still.

•26 HOURS AGO•

My warm breath casted in front of my face as footsteps neared closer to me seeing the figure's shadow blend with mine. All hope drained from my snow like eyes as the world dimmed before me, waking in my bed dizzy, and confused. I looked across my room that stood a shattered window letting in a cool breeze in that swifted my hair to my right shoulder.

"MOTHER?!", it seemed that my worst fear was playing on repeat in my head over and over again making me insane for an answer. I stood ignoring the blood that slowly made its way down the side of my head making a dusty blonde color in my hair and stumbled over shards of glass that was scattered across my room.

The door frame just stood there seeming like it mocked me in ways I could not express but slowly wobbled closer...

The cold floor sent waves of pain up my back making me notice deep gashes in my arms that trickled with a dark snug red. My stiff fingers flew around looking for support to keep me standing only to fail at the very task. The fall shot pain in my shoulder as I heard someone screech my name in shock.

•Present Time May 1st, 2020•

The world seemed like a blur. Niomi stood up slowly feeling the bandages that wrapped around her stiff body getting tighter the more she moved. She looked around the hospital...white, clean were the words that only remains in her head until she looked over to see a male figure crying in the right side of the room.

His sobbing was near a corner of the room, darkened by the closed drafts that hung high up against the large window. She whimpered his name only getting a familiar sound out due to the sharp pang in her stomach that made her gasp of pain. His deep blue hair settled over his puffy eyes hearing her whisper his name only made him sorrow even louder, running over to his best friend to give a hug that seemed like forever to have. Niomi favored his hugs as they were tight but caring yet this time he was only carful to watch the injuries that followed up and down her body.

"I AM SO SORRY, -I -I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE!", he only could whisper lightly as the words sat there drifting in Niomi's head as he was still sobbing in her embrace. Confused and focused questions flew in her head for her to only come to one main one that stood out...

" How did I become like this....?"

Niomi was finally released out the hospital and to celebrate her release Kai decided to bring her to her favorite café down Everly Lane. The café was small and had a lack of potential space but had the most heavenly scents that filled your senses with pleasure. Plus, they were cheap...

•Niomi•

"Hey Kai?", I asked quietly, " Do you remember seeing anybody else in my house when you saw me perhaps..?" Silence crept through the car as Kai thought for a moment then went on, "I mean I guess but they were trying to help.....I think."

Still curios I continued, "Did they check the cameras to see what happened?"

Kai looked at me with annoyance, "The cameras were hacked so, no...", his looked changed to a nervous smile, " but thinking back on your injuries it must have been bad...!"

For the rest of the ride we sat in silence as I looked out the window to see the scenery change like a never ending world that was held before me. We soon arrived to the café with its warm colors giving a soft touch to the scenery around it. My friend Chloe was standing at the entrance focused on her phone, like always. She was popular at school getting everyone's attention with her outfits that barley covered her soft tan body (apparently it was on trend).

•Kai•

When we arrived at the café Niomi and Chloe had a short chat before we entered through the glass door. The tables were cleaned and the air had a cinnamon, lemon hint. They had chimes hung upon the ceiling that reflected the sun, gleaming and lightning the room in warm colors that had calmed the environment. "KAI!", my older sister ran over to me wearing a high knee skirt that made my blood boil.

" umm...", I said in a annoyed tone, "what exactly are you wearing?" She looked at me with a certain smile, "uh, brother, ITS ALMOST SUMMER! Did you bump you head on the way here...?"

I rolled my eyes but before I could complain she ran off knowing what I was about to do, scold her.

I went back to our table and sat down feeling all eyes on me like I just stopped time...ouch more like daggers of war on me. "KAI!", Chloe complained with her sunglasses slowly sliding down her long brown hair, " Let your sister wear whatever she wants, I mean come on let her have a little fun!"I returned the daggers to them in a glare. "Why exactly, so she can get raped!?", she giggled, god this girl is annoying why did I invite her? "Uh, no...just so she can have pride in her body and not shame herself, it shows people she is confinement in who she is!", Chloe reasoned. Wow..half decent words came out her mouth.

I nodded knowing I still won't let it happen!

•Chloe•

Ugh, who knew hanging out with these people could be so annoying! I turned my head slowly to look around the café that had no comforting ideas or that of what I thought. A tall male figure walk over and ask for our order, I mean not to be rude but he really needed to try different face wash. He was tall with messy black hair that hung over his eyes, his face was clear but not soft looking which annoyed me. Yet, he was pretty hot anyway I went ahead and ordered interrupting Kai in the process which made me grin.

As Chloe ordered her baked goods she was shot a pain staking glare. Will this show negative feelings causing a fight or will it all go right...?

SHE DID NOT! I quickly got up causing my chair to fall back with a loud crash that made Niomi jump out of hers onto the floor and only made Chloe laugh with an evil grin that ran across her face. I quickly felt guilt course through my head as I went around the table to help up Niomi. I heard Chloe giggle as she pushed me down on top of Niomi. "Hey Kai will that make you less gay or oh, I forgot you do not like girls cause what your mother did to you..", Niomi soon got up just to be pushed down again, " OH BOO, you forgot gays have to stick together...am I right Niomi?" Fear flashed into Niomi's face as tears slid down her pale cheeks.

"THAT IS EN-", our server put down his notebook, interrupting Kai as Chloe looked at him with pure lust in her eyes as she grabbed his shirt collar, " Thank you for not letting the mad man yell at me!" Her voice had a sexual whimper only to be put down. "I am sorry miss but I have to help up these kind people, I mean like you said 'Us gay people have to stick together', right?" She gasped and looked like she just had seen a ghost as she swiftly walk out the café, careful not to make a scene or a bigger one...

•Niomi•

I felt the waiter's gentle hand pull me up off my feet and went over to Kai, who had a slight blush, doing the same towards him. I went over and thanked him asking for his name before his boss came out to see what the problem was. His manager had a furious gleam in his eyes as I stepped in front of the gentleman. "Sir I-", the manager before me was my mother as she quickly ran back to her office without a single word.

Kai had seen what happened and nervously put his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. We slowly went outside once again waving a caring good-bye to the waiter. " I thought...", Kai gave me a hopeful look in his eyes as his hair flew unruly in the small breeze that soon settled into a motionless setting, "Hey we can talk about that later, let's not ruin our day...OK?" I snickered at that as the embarrassing seen played recklessly my head making me tense up a bit. Kai tried to calm me down, not knowing what to do.

The glass door behind us sent the jingle of the small bell as it rang throughout the empty streets as the gentleman walked out towards us in a hurry. "Hey thanks for saving me back there or...whatever that you did.", he gave us a caring smile knowing our day had just been taken to the dump and spoke of something exciting, " Would you guys consider going on a walk, I have a feeling you guys will enjoy a soothing walk, after all it could take your mind of a few things and maybe even make a new friend. Me and Kai Sneaked our eyes at the man's and nodded, "That sounds exciting!" Hope filled our hearts as we gracefully made our way down the smooth sidewalk to a simple walk that could change everything...
