"It is no use. Just give up."
"I will not give up. That is the last thing I'm doing."
"Insuvai, she is dead get over it."
"Shut the hell up Velvezhi! I am looking for a spell."
"For ten months you have been saying that." Velvezhi deadpanned.
"It is hard to find something without killing another!" Insuvai had been frantic to find something ever since the incident.
"Well, it must be serious since you are not speaking like you use too."
"You killed my niece! Of course it's serious." Insuvai wouldn't admit it, but she secretly wanted her dead along with Leah.
"Grand Niece." Velvezhi corrected.
"She was still family."
Velvezhi rolled her eyes and left the small cave room. Insuvai sighed with sad eyes. She glanced at Leah's pale white body. Insuvai had put a preservation spell on Leah so she would not decompose, but finding a spell to bring her back was nearly impossible. It was unheard of unless there was a sacrifice, and Insuvai would not take the life of an innocent for her own benefit. She put down the ancient book, filled with powerful spells and remedies, and walked to Leah. Tears brimmed her eyes and she held onto Leah's hand tightly.
"I'm sorry Leah. I'm trying really hard." Insuvai thought it wasn't fair. Everyone was happy except for her. Alec had his eyesight, Leah was in peace, and Achira left a few months ago. But where was her peace? It seemed like no one cared about Leah except for her. The worst part was that Laura, Leah's mom, did not even know yet. Insuvai placed Leah's hand back down on the old wooden table where she laid. She had to get back to work.
Later that day, Velvezhi entered the room where Insuvai stayed. She chuckled as she saw Insuvai passed out with an open book on her lap. She has been searching on something to bring Leah back to life, but she knew it was useless. Unlike the others, Velvezhi was a realist. She didn't even understand all the uproar on one single girl anyway, even if she was family. It was just one less person in a world with millions of faces. Velvezhi snapped her fingers in front of Insuvai's face. Insuvai awoke with sunken and bloodshot eyes. She looked frantic but soon recovered from it.
"You must get some sleep, it has been months before you had a decent sleep," Velvezhi told Insuvai.
"I'm not taking orders from you. You are the cause of all this." Insuvai coldly said. Velvezhi knew better than to argue with her sister, especially when she was like this. She left the room wondering when she would ever get over herself. The way Velvezhi looked at it was that Leah would eventually die sooner or later due to old age. She was not a full-blooded witch, therefore; she was not immortal. The only way a witch could die would be because of injury or murder, but witches cannot die of illness or old age. Werewolves had fast regeneration when it came to health but they could not outrun death.
Velvezhi wandered over to her table and started to practice with her special element, which was fire. All witches had a certain element and Velvezhi's bloodline had specialized in fire. The only one that was different was her youngest grandchild, Blake. Leah's brother specialized in water. Velvezhi smiled fondly of Blake. He was always Velvezhi's favorite grandchild.
Velvezhi recalled her abusive mother and how much pain she put her family through. Ever since then, she has always preferred males over females. Besides her sisters, her own daughter was the only one she had a true connection with. But, Velvezhi ruined that with a dagger.
When Laura finally moved out from under her mother's wing, Velvezhi and Laura's relationship started to dwindle slowly. Velvezhi still loved her daughter, she just didn't love all of her offspring. Many people would probably think she is detached and cruel, but she had her own reasons for her behavior. Velvezhi believed she didn't need to explain herself either.
Just as Velvezhi was working on her magic, Achira walked in. Velvezhi eyes widened in surprise because it was the first time she has seen Achira in a couple months.
"Where have you been the last few months?" Velvezhi questioned Achira.
"None of your damn business," Achira replied coldly.
"Okay, what is your problem? Insuvai has been acting the same way." Velvezhi harshly demanded to know.
"Go look at the table." Achira pointed toward the room where Insuvai inhabited.
Velvezhi rolled her eyes, "Get over it!"
Achira scowled but straightened her posture with a smile. Velvezhi was confused by her actions.
"I have to speak to someone of more importance anyway." She smartly said and walked off.
Achira entered the room that Insuvai occupied, and Velvezhi continued her magic.
Insuvai's eyes widened and a smile formed as Achira entered the room. She jumped up with happiness and hugged Achira with great love.
"Did you find anything?" Insuvai whispered in Achira's ear.
"Actually I did," Achira said and Insuvai rejoiced with glee.
"What is it?"
"I traveled to the Uyirtteḻutal Coven-"
"What did you find?" Insuvai eagerly interrupted.
"Sh. Let me finish. They have an old spell- more like ancient. They cannot perform it because they are not powerful enough, but they have been protecting it. I asked to have it, and they agreed. Who would refuse anything to an original." Achira explained to Insuvai.
The happiness in Insuvai's eyes lit up the room. "Really that's wonderful."
Achira sighed as she would have to break the bad news. "There's something else... It requires three powerful witches."
Insuvai's face fell as she pieced the puzzles together. "You, me... and Velvezhi," Insuvai whispered the last part and her eyebrows furrowed. She was in deep concentration.
"Also, she will have side effects if we can even wake her. I don't think you fully know the consequ-." Achira was interrupted again.
"I don't care! I am getting Velvezhi to do this." Insuvai injected very determinedly.
"Wait, Insuvai!" Achira yelled after Insuvai but it was too late. Insuvai had already left the room hunting down Velvezhi. Achira groaned out loud at her impatient sister. She looked at Leah's unmoving body. "I'm sorry, Leah." Achira didn't want her to wake up because she knew that Leah wouldn't like what she would become, or the side effects that would take place. Quite honestly, there was nothing she could do. Insuvai would not stop until she got what she wanted. Even if that meant that Insuvai would never talk to Velvezhi and Achira ever again, if Leah was still dead.
Insuvai found Velvezhi still practicing with her fire element. "I need to speak with you." Insuvai firmly said. Velvezhi eyes widened slightly and a small smile came to her lips. She assumed that Insuvai wanted to forgive her.
"Yes? My wonderful sister."
"Achira found a spell to bring Leah back. We need your help." Insuvai claimed.
"No."
"What do you mean no?"
"I am not bringing Leah back. Forget about it! All I care about is my sisters and myself." Velvezhi heartlessly said.
"Damn it! If you don't bring her back right fucking now you can forget about me being your sister." Insuvai shouted.
Velvezhi raised her eyebrows. Velvezhi thought she was bluffing because Insuvai wasn't exactly the one to stand up for herself or make threats. It surprised Velvezhi.
"You can forget about me being your sister as well." Achira joined.
Velvezhi's face showed anger. "What is this? You two teaming up on me? I thought we were closer than to let one wolf get in the way of that. My answer stands. No." Velvezhi's words came like poison rolling off her tongue. Insuvai snapped and raged filled her body.
"She is your blood!" Achira cried. Velvezhi ignored her.
In a swift movement, Insuvai grabbed Velvezhi by her neck and pinned her to the wall. "If you don't help bring her back, I will ruin your life! I will start by killing your own mate in front of your own eyes. Ruining every chance of happiness you will have in the future. You won't be able to hide from me! I WILL END YOU!" Insuvai's raging outburst scared the hell out of Velvezhi and Achira. It was like she became a totally different person.
Velvezhi shoved her back and cleared her throat. Secretly, she was afraid of losing both of them. Living an eternal life without someone was the worst punishment. Velvezhi didn't want her significant other to be hurt either. They may not have seen eye to eye the last time they departed, but love for each other still consumed them. Velvezhi and her daughter's father just needed a little break for a while.
"You want her back? Then fine! I'll help." Velvezhi grumbled.
"Good, then lets do this." Insuvai happily said and all the anger vanished from her body. She was the first one to go into the room where Leah was.
Velvezhi and Achira shared a worried look with each other. "Velvezhi... there's something you need to know," Achira said.
Insuvai patiently waited on her sisters, she was ecstatic to finally have her favorite family member back. While waiting, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She looked horrendous. She was covered in dirt from her lack of bathing. She had puffy eyes from her lack of sleep, and her newfound skinniness from her lack of eating. Velvezhi and Achira worried about her. Hell, she was worried about herself. She never expected someone to take such a tremendous toll on her.
Insuvai impatiently waited for them, she grew anxious as she tapped her foot. She was just about to go find them, but they entered the room just as she was about to exit it.
"Finally," Insuvai muttered under her breath. Insuvai did not notice the warily look on her sister's face.
"Let's do this." Insuvai clapped her hands gaining the attention from her sisters. It was safe to say that she was going mad, and it frightened everyone.
They huddled around each other as Achira pulled out an ancient spell book from her trench coat. Achira flipped through the pages and found the spell that they would use. The three witches studied it for a while then prepared the resurrection. Insuvai was happy that this was going as planned, even more happy that they didn't have to kill someone to bring her back. Which is why the spell was so special.
Achira gathered candles and placed them around Leah. Insuvai gathered herbs and gave them to Velvezhi so she could mix them. Once the elixir was finished Velvezhi poured it into a bottle. They gathered around Leah. The candle flames were flickering wildly, almost out of control. Velvezhi poured the liquid, in the bottle, on Leah's body. Insuvai sprinkled some other necessary herbs over her. Achira pulled out a big ritual knife and cut small symbols into Leah's wrist. After that, they began to chant.
"Uyir ātmāvai nirappukiṟatu, uṭalil uṭpukutal."
"Nīṅkaḷ piṟanta nāḷaṉṟu nīṅkaḷ mūccuttiṇaṟiṉa."
"Uyir ātmāvai nirappukiṟatu, uṭalil uṭpukutal."
"Nīṅkaḷ piṟanta nāḷaṉṟu nīṅkaḷ mūccuttiṇaṟiṉa."
"Uyir ātmāvai nirappukiṟatu, uṭalil uṭpukutal."
"Nīṅkaḷ piṟanta nāḷaṉṟu nīṅkaḷ mūccuttiṇaṟiṉa."
"Uyir ātmāvai nirappukiṟatu, uṭalil uṭpukutal."
"Nīṅkaḷ piṟanta nāḷaṉṟu nīṅkaḷ mūccuttiṇaṟiṉa."
"Uyir ātmāvai nirappukiṟatu, uṭalil uṭpukutal."
"Nīṅkaḷ piṟanta nāḷaṉṟu nīṅkaḷ mūccuttiṇaṟiṉa."
The lights to all the the candles, in the room, extinguish. They were engulfed in darkness. Insuvai sharply inhaled while fearing the worse. It was silent for a good five minutes.
"Did it work?" Insuvai nervously asked. They have never done such a spell like this before in all their years of living. Velvezhi didn't reply and she left the room.
"I don't know. I guess we just have to wait and see. Are you alright?" Achira asked concerned. Insuvai didn't reply as tears welled up in her eyes. She did not know if the spell was rejected or not because most spells that were rejected ended like that. Achira hugged Insuvai tightly.
"I-I." Insuvai started to say but she couldn't finish. Her throat hurt and she felt like she physically couldn't breathe. She started to cry and tears fell like rain.
"It's okay Insuvai. We all tried. All we can do is hope for the best." Achira comforted Insuvai.

Sweat filled the air like perfume. Muscles ached like when you exercise for the first time. Anger contaminated the air like dirty water leaked into a pool. It has been almost a year and the pain within Alec has not subsided. Instead, anger and depression invaded him and made a home inside of his mind and heart. The only way Alec could keep himself busy was by constantly working. He became more distant from his family, friends, and pack.
Snap.
The chain connecting the punching bag to the tree limb snapped. Just like that, memories that he had consumed his body. The overwhelming sadness of his mistakes rushed to his mind. It was like torture. Alec became so enraged that he grabbed the thick tree branch and tore it off the tree and tossed it with the broken punching back.
"Jeez. What did that tree branch do to you?"
Alec's head snapped around and he saw Damon. Damon was the only, it seemed like, that could pull Alec back from losing himself. Rem and Alec didn't talk much since Alec came back from Alaska because Rem declared he wanted nothing to do with Alec. Rem also stated he was stepping down from his position next year after he heard the story of what happened. Alice gave Alec the silent treatment for the first couple of months. She said that he ruined the one good thing in his life. Now seeing the cause of his actions, he understood that he fucked up. It was like he continued losing people in his life.
Since Damon had Alpha blood he was the only match against Alec when he became feral. Alec struggled a lot and Damon was the only one able to test his patience. They argued like brothers but it helped eased the emptiness that Alec felt. The two of them became pretty close. Damon did not hate Alec but at first, he was angry at him. He felt bad for the whole situation, especially when he heard stories of how violent he became toward his pack members. That's when Damon personally decided to drive himself from his pack to Alec's pack. There had been three incidents that ended badly in the pack since Damon arrived. One resulted in Damon and Alec fighting so that Alec wouldn't kill anyone else while he was not in control of himself.
Damon managed to keep everyone safe and he also helped Alec in ways that no one wanted too. His friends and family were so furious at him to stand up to him and tell him he needed help. As for his pack, they never knew they had a Luna, to begin with. The pack just assumed that Leah was just another girl when they first saw her at the tournament.
"Are you gonna answer me?" Damon gained back the attention of Alec, who was staring off into space.
"It pissed me off." He was referring to the punching bag.
"Hey, at least the punching bag itself didn't bust like the other thirty-seven ones. We can just get a new chain."
"I guess," Alec muttered and put his shirt back on. He grabbed the towel and wiped the sweat off his face.
"It's time to leave for your appointment," Damon said and they both headed back to the house. Alec got a quick shower and picked out some clothes. He met Damon down in the kitchen and ate some sandwiches that Damon prepared. Then they left for Alec's anger management appointment.
When Damon first arrived, a couple months ago, Alec and Damon fought until the sun came up. Since they fought in wolf form, they were both injured badly and had to be hospitalized. Damon more than Alec, but Alec gave him respect for standing his ground. However, Alec was still the more dominant one, but he did listen to Damon when he suggested anger management. After all, Alec would just have to look around at his pack and pack members to see the damage he caused. More remorse filled his body that day after seeing the damage he had done. Alec loved his pack and he never wanted them to fear him. But they did. His pack members feared him so badly that they didn't step one foot out of their house for a week, and some were still grieving for their lost ones. All of them were hesitant around him like walking on eggshells.
Alec tried to gain back their love by hosting a cookout two months ago. At first only a few showed up, then the news traveled fast at his quickly changed behavior. At the end of that cookout, almost the whole pack was there. Most of the ones that didn't arrive were the ones that were still grieving. Rem and Alice didn't show up either and he wished to see them the most. Later in that month, most of the pack felt at ease around him when they found out he was taking anger management. Out of the newfound kindness in his heart, he decided to visit the families that were still upset over their lost family members, and he brought them flowers and food. After all, it was his fault because he had killed them. Most of the families refused, still upset, but some accepted because they understood how a wolf could become feral. Alec felt ashamed of himself for ever getting out of control because he lost a good friend that day who thought she would be able to stop his beast. Nonetheless, That was why the pack loved Damon. Damon helped their Alpha with his strange anger which was unknown to the pack members.
Soon, Damon reached the small town, away from their pack land. The land was two miles deep in the woods, therefore: no one could wander into Alec's land.
Damon figured that a way to help Alec control his anger was by putting him in an environment that made him angry, so he could learn how to control it better. For some reason, Alec hated humans, and Damon registered him in a class filled with humans. If Alec was able to control his anger in an environment that he hated, then he would be able to control himself in an environment that he loved, his pack.
At first, Alec thought that anger management was bullshit. Alec felt that no amount of humans talking could change the fact that his mate was dead. He hated the first couple weeks of going, but the results showed. He was slowly progressing, but not fully. Only enough to contain himself. He took his anger out in other ways, as the humans suggested. At angry days he would go boxing, running, or exercising. He used his newfound eyesight to do normal activities like fishing, and he loved to go to shooting ranges. He also met female humans that were good looking and he would distract himself. Alec may have not liked humans but a woman is a woman. Alec also took up many offers from the females in his pack.
Many members of his pack would start to say that he looked happy and even enjoy himself. Alec knew that was not true. Still, deep down inside he was broken. Even more than before.
"Hey, we are here. Would you like me to stay this time?" Damon questioned.
Alec shook his head, "I'm good, thanks." It was only an hour. Knowing the risks, of losing control and hurting or killing humans in public, Alec felt like he could control himself today.
"I'll see you in an hour." Damon waved goodbye. Alec sighed under his breath, "Lets get this over with." He walked into the small building with lots of humans. He made his way through the sea of people and took his usual seat. He glanced around the room anxiously. His eyes settled on a girl named Bella.
Bella was a woman with blond hair and brown eyes. Alec thought she was beautiful, which is why he met up with her several times in a hotel room, but her beauty couldn't compare to his dead mate. Bella smiled wholeheartedly at him, and Alec returned a half smile that screamed Brokenness. Alec sat in the chair, with humans around, feeling numb.
The meeting dragged on very slowly. Alec never thought an hour could be so long. But like the other meetings, this one came to an end. He eagerly stood up, prepared to leave when Bella made her way toward him.
"Hey, handsome." Alec had to refrain himself from cringing at her voice. He just wasn't in the mood today and had no desire to give her any attention. He wanted nothing more than for Leah to say those words to him because for some reason she was on Alec's mind. He just couldn't shake her dead body out of his mind.
"Hello." He monotonously said.
"Do you want to hang out with me tonight?" She purred.
"Not tonight. I have work to do." He replied. She pouted but accepted his words. They held a dreadfully long conversation before Damon swept in and saved him.
"Hey, you ready to go? We have that business meeting." Damon stood beside Alec. Bella watched both of them with thirsty eyes.
"Yes, lets go," Alec answered. There was no business meeting. It was just a cover-up that Damon and Alec had planned last week. Humans could be pesky and insistent creatures. At moments like this, he regretted ever giving them the time of day.
"How was it?" Damon asked once they were in Damon's new truck that Alec bought him.
"Boring," Alec muttered looking out the truck window. He didn't really feel like talking and Damon noticed. It wasn't that Alec didn't want to talk to Damon, it was just something on Alec's mind. More like someone. He exhaled trying to forget about his troubles.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Damon asked.
Alec shook his head and observed the scenery rolling by. Soon, the small town disappeared and it was replaced by woods. Alec loved the forest better than the town because his wolf felt free. The only time he could communicate with his inner wolf was when he shifted and he couldn't enjoy those times any more than he already did. Alec prioritized his wolf and he missed him dearly. When Leah died, his wolf blocked him out. His own wolf blamed him and that damaged Alec even more. Being outcasted by your own friends was tolerable but being outcasted by your inner half was depressing.
Alec recalled the two times he tried taking his own life but failed. He tried hanging himself but Rem stopped him just in time. That was the first and last time Rem spoke to him in such a caring manner since he returned. The second time Alec had a gun to his skull but Damon busted through the door and wrestled it out of his hands. Alec such was a mess since Leah died. His biggest mistake was ever laying a harmful hand on Leah.
Pushing his horrible memories to the back of his head he focused on something happier. He focused on the woods. One of his interests, when he was young, was hiking and seeing all the beautiful animals. It was springtime and all the deer were out to play. For the first time, he did not crave to eat them. Alec just wanted to observe them and put his eyes to good use.
"We are here."
Alec had zoned out and didn't realize they were in the pack complex until Damon said something.
"Thank you," Alec said and hopped out of his truck. He made his way to his house and waved to Damon. He opened the door to his house and the wonderful scent of chicken hit his nose. Alice was cooking dinner.
"Hey, sis." Alec softly said.
"Hi." She blankly said. Alice looked at her older brother. She couldn't hate him for what he did but she was still mad. However, eventually, she would have to get over herself. She wondered why Rem couldn't do the same. She loved Leah but she loved Alec more. But, she did not condone his actions toward Leah.
Alice and Alec sat at the dining room and ate peacefully together. They didn't have much conversation but Alice's presence was enough for Alec. He appreciated it to the maximum. After Alec was done, he placed his plate in the sink and went up to his office for some alone time. It has been a long day for him.
Alec sat in his office and loaded up his computer to do some work. While typing in his password he locked eyes with the photo frame on his desk. A small four by four inch frame perched on his mahogany desk. He studied the photo. It was taken on their trip. In the photo, Alec and Leah were in the back seat of Damon's old truck. Alec had fallen asleep on Leah's shoulder. He gazed at Leah's beautiful smile and her vibrant eyes. He closed his eyes tightly trying to stop the tears. Alec wondered to himself how someone could possibly be happy in the situation that he put her in.
Alec thought he would finally be happy about getting his eyesight back, but at the price it had cost, he wasn't sure anymore.

It has been a day since the three original witch sisters did the resurrection spell. Still, nothing has changed. Leah still remained dead on the table in the dirty room. Insuvai was quickly pacing back and forth in the main room.
"Quick causing all that ruckus. I'm sure things are fine." Velvezhi snapped.
"It has been a day! Spells don't take that long." Insuvai replied.
Achira gently grabbed Insuvai's shoulders, "We have never done a spell quite like that. Have faith sister."
"I'm going to go check on her," Insuvai said as Velvezhi rolled her eyes. Insuvai checked on her ten times today.
Insuvai entered the room and grabbed Leah's hand. She gasped as she glided her delicate fingers across Leah's warm skin. It had not been like that an hour ago. Insuvai squealed with delight and touched Leah's forehead. Sweat beads covered her body, another sign that she was awaking. Leah's breathing was faint and odd, with long and short exhales, nonetheless she was still breathing. Insuvai brought her ear to Leah's chest, and it was faint but sure enough, there was a heartbeat.
"Achira come quickly!" Insuvai shouted. Achira and Velvezhi rushed in. "It worked!" Insuvai beamed. A smile formed on Achira's face and they hugged each other tightly.
"Hooray!" Velvezhi shouted sarcastically and left the room. The other two sisters scowled at her but their anger toward Velvezhi lessened. Achira checked to see if it was true and checked her pulse. It was.
Insuvai jumped up and down with excitement. "Wait, Insuvai. I have to tell you something..." Achira started to say.
"Can't this wait? She is going to wake up soon." Insuvai asked.
"That's the problem Insuvai." Achira firmly spoke.
"What, you think that she is a problem too, now? Like Velvezhi." Insuvai sobered up and stared at her sister.
"No Insuvai! That's not what I'm saying."
"Then what are you saying?"
"There are consequences!" Achira shouted at Insuvai.
"Like what!" Insuvai snapped.
Achira was finally going to tell Insuvai about the consequences but they were both interrupted by loud coughing. Their attention snapped toward Leah who was hacking up blood. The coughs were so brutal that she ended up falling off the table. Insuvai rushed over to Leah and helped her stand from the floor. However, Leah could not stand by herself because she had not regained movement in her legs yet. Insuvai helped her lay back down on the table and patted her back as more blood spewed out of her mouth.
Insuvai looked at the blood on the floor, "Is this normal?" Insuvai asked Achira.
Achira nodded. "I'll be back."
Insuvai would clean the blood later but now she needed to be there for Leah. Soon, Leah stopped coughing and straightened her posture. Insuvai studied her for a second. Insuvai thought she looked different like she had a different demeanor.
Leah puzzlingly studied the room she was in. Her throat was as dry as a desert and she had no idea where she was. Her eyes darted from every object in the room and finally, they landed on Insuvai. Leah steadied her breathing and cleared her throat. Her heart was still beating slowly and she felt sluggish.
"Who are you?" Leah peered at Insuvai with great confusion.
A lump formed in Insuvai's throat. "What? You know me." She laughed awkwardly not trying to accept that fact she could have possibly lost her memory.
Leah's eyes turned into pure anger. She then punched Insuvai in the face as hard as she could. She hopped off the table and pushed Insuvai away from her. Insuvai was confused at Leah's drastic actions. Little drops of blood dripped from Insuvai's nose.
"What are you doing?" Insuvai yelled.
"You kidnapped me and took me from my mate!" Leah yelled. Leah barreled at Insuvai and attacked her. Insuvai didn't want to hurt her so she pushed her back and ran out of the room. She cast a spell to bind shifters inside the room so Leah could not leave. Despite Insuvai's attempts, Leah walked out of the room trying to attack Insuvai once again. Insuvai's eyes widened in surprise and shock.
Leah lunged at Insuvai with a closed fist while screaming and cursing at her. Insuvai remained frozen like a deer caught in headlights. Before Leah could reach Insuvai, Velvezhi grabbed Leah's hand from behind her and spun Leah around to face her.
Velvezhi touched Leah's forehead with her palm and quickly muttered, "Tūṅku."
Insuvai breathed out and tears brimmed her eyes, "It can't be."
"What?" Velvezhi asked.
"I put a shifter spell on that room." She pointed to the room where Leah laid dead for ten months.
"Then how did she get out?" Velvezhi questioned.
"I'm not sure." Insuvai looked intently at Leah. "Where is Achira?"
Velvezhi shrugged her should obviously showing that she was useless. "Thanks," Insuvai muttered and rolled her eyes. She cautiously checks on Leah's vital signs.
"I didn't kill her, damn."
"Wouldn't be the first time." Insuvai retorted. After making sure Leah was fine Insuvai attempted to pick Leah up, but it was like she was dead weight. "Are you sure she's okay."
"She's fine! She'll wake up in like an hour. Now leave me be, I have work to do." Velvezhi returned her focus back to the table.
Achira came into the room and Insuvai enlisted her help with moving Leah. Besides Velvezhi, Achira was the stronger one out of the sisters.
After Achira put Leah on the table she turned her sister. "Are you ready for me to tell you about the consequences now?"
"Ready as I'll ever be. I got major questions because that was scary as hell. Does she really not remember us?" Insuvai questioned.
"That was just a mere side effect. The least of our worries, she will be back to her half-normal self when she wakes up. Now on to more important matters. Come let me explain." Achira answered and guided Insuvai away from the room.
Leah unwillingly slept on the hard table for half an hour before the spell wore off. One perk about her new self was that spells would not affect her as much. Leah opened her eyes for the first time that she remembered. Even though Leah laid still for ten months she felt exhausted. Her muscles ached and she forced herself to stay awake. The last thing she remembered was having a dagger in her heart. She was confused about why she was alive because she shouldn't be. Her mind then started to flood with memories of him. She remembered everything that had happened to led her here. She wondered what he was doing at this very second, and she wondered how long she had been dead. Too many questions stirred in her mind and she wasn't going to solve them by laying here. She willed herself to sit up and somehow she felt different. More fragile if that was possible. She looked at her skinny arms and fingers, obviously from the lack of food. Leah came to conclusion that the only possibility that she could be alive would be because of her witch family members. Leah stood to her feet and the next thing she tried to do was communicate with her wolf.
After a long conversation with Achira, Insuvai pinched the bridge of her nose. "Are you serious! This is not funny. Are you serious?"
"This is not something to joke about." Achira crossed her arms.
"That's just wonderful." Insuvai laughed sarcastically. "I'll go break the news then." Insuvai sighed defeatedly.
Insuvai reluctantly walked into the room only to find Leah bawling her eyes out. Insuvai crouched down and hugged her.
Leah sniffled, "Insuvai." She exhaled. "I can't feel my wolf."
For a shifter this was terrible news, it was rare to lose your wolf. Most shifters died shortly after, but Leah was not just a shifter. She was a witch, and now she was a full-blooded witch. Which meant, she was now immortal. Insuvai watched as Leah grieved and Insuvai felt guilty.
"Is she dead?" Leah asked horrified to find the answer. Insuvai shamefully nodded her hug.
"I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Insuvai soothingly rubbed her back.
"I'll be okay. I'm just a powerless human now, but it's fine" Leah muttered in defeat as she stood to her feet.
"Actually you are not," "I can feel the power radiating from you. You are now a witch." Insuvai said.
Leah's eyes widened in surprise and a small smile formed on her lips. "Really?"
"Yes. With mine and Achira's help, we can form you into a powerful witch. Then you can travel the world and do what you'd like."
"I want to see Alec again."
Insuvai's face formed into a deep scowl. "What?" Insuvai snapped as if she expected Leah to say something else.
"I want to see him again."
"Why do you want to go back to that bastard? He abused you and doesn't deserve you. You are finally free from the mate bond and you want to go crawling back to him!" Insuvai snapped.
Insuvai and Leah were too absorbed in the conversation to notice Achira enter the room. "I agree with Insuvai. You shouldn't go back to him." Achira spoke up.
"It's my choice. Regardless if I'm a shifter or not. He's still my mate. Besides, what if he has changed?" Leah argued.
"I agree with Leah. Run back to the man who abused you. Die another time, it's your choice." Velvezhi joined the conversation.
"Shut up!" Achira shouted.
"You're like a cat," Insuvai said.
"What is that suppose to mean?" Leah asked.
"You're like a cat. Always crawling back to the same person that abuses you. Even if you kick a cat out the door. What happens? They still come crawling back scratching on the door to be let in. That's what you are!" Insuvai was yelling by the end of her speech.
Leah's eyes brimmed with tears again. Insuvai's eyes softened and she tried to apologize. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it."
"No, you meant it."
Insuvai sighed.
"I want to be left alone right now."
"Okay that's fine, but would you still like to learn the powers of a witch. It could take a couple months." Insuvai asked. Leah nodded her head and soon everyone disappeared.
She stayed stuck in her mind for a while. Thinking about her lost friend, her inner wolf. She wondered if Alec had changed because it seemed like a lot of things did. Like the way Insuvai spoke. That did not unnoticed by Leah at all. Of course, she wasn't able to ask questions because of the yelling, but she was positive it was because she died. Leah buried her head in her hands to try and ease her massive headache. She was so confused on what to do. She pondered about what Insuvai and Achira said.
Should she go back to him?
"Are you okay?" Leah heard a small voice of a boy that made her jump three feet in the air.
Quickly scanning the room her eyes settled on a small little white boy with brown eyes. She recognized the boy immediately. He was the one boy that Leah attempted to save during the plane crash.
Leah blinked a couple times and yet he still didn't disappear. The boy looked at her with confusion. "Now I've officially lost it." She laughed.
"No, I'm here." The boy said.
"How?" Leah questioned.
"I've been watching your witches try to save you. I'm happy I can finally talk with you. It's lonely without you."
"How can I see you? I'm not dead anymore."
"You have been dead for ten months. When you wake up you would have consequences due to being dead for so long. Some worse than others. I don't think living an eternity with me will be that bad though." He chuckled.
Leah thought about it. To any other person, they would possibly check into an insane asylum, but a lot of things have happened over the last ten months even though she was dead throughout all of it.
"It won't be that bad. I could use the company, after all, my wolf is dead." Leah explained.
"I know. I'm deeply sorry. Did they tell you about the other consequences?"
Leah shook her head.
"Well, you already know you lost your wolf and you can see me. You can also see other ghost like me, but I'm your primary and favorite ghost," He chuckled and winked at me. I laughed at his charisma.
His face turned serious and he continued, "The third and final consequences is that once every month you will feel extreme pain. You will feel sluggish and almost like your dead."
Leah gulped and she wondered why no one had told her yet.
"But don't worry. I'll be there to comfort you through it."
"Thanks."
"Hey, it's the least I can do. You did try to save my life. I couldn't think of a better person to spend the rest of eternity with." The kid said.
"Awe, thanks." Leah blushed at the kid's kind words.
Leah nodded her head, "Will the pain be excruciating?"
The kid looked down with big sad brown eyes. "Yes, it will. But I'm here for you."
Leah nodded her head and looked down at the ground, crying once more. However, this time she wasn't alone. The boy walked over to Leah and hugged her in a warm embrace. Leah hugged him back and it made her feel better after hearing this terrible news.
