My Handsome Girl!

Chapter 1

Melanie or friendly called by her friends as Melon, was a naive and soft-hearted girl.

Even when her friends talked behind her back or bullied her, she could not react badly or take a revenge on them.

One day..

"Hah..hah..ha.." Melon gasped, taking a deep breath after running.

Her watch showed around 1 pm in the meantime, she had arrived to a building on one Sunday.

She quickly ran into the building, went inside a public lift, pressed floor number 8, and took another deep breath while she closed her eyes and calmed herself.

"Whew.. I can do this. You can do it, Melon!" she spoke to herself while she was still the only person on the lift.

The lift went up slowly, as a small crowd began to go inside and out. When the lift showed floor number 5, Melon was all alone again on the lift. The lift door opened, but no one was there, so she pressed close button.

"Whew.. now I can breathe again." she said.

But, suddenly..

GRASP

Melon heard a sudden loud bang which made her closed her eyes instantly.

"Sorry. Did I surprise you?"

She heard a voice. She opened her eyes slowly and..

"Are you alright, miss?" a cute guy asked her.

"Wow.. I'm.. I'm ok." she replied, with a silly and bashful attitude.

The cute guy smiled. He moved closer to Melon as he bent his body and said; "You're cute."

Melon was suddenly stricken by a heart attack. She blushed and her eyes widened.

"Really cute. I'd like to know your name." he winked his eye.

"I..I.. err.. I'm Mel--Melon." she looked rather shy and jumpy.

"Haha. Melon? Nice name. I'll see you again, if we are meant to be." he spoke, as he went out on the 7th floor. He waved his hand and bestowed a handsome smile before Melon's eyes.

"B--Bye!" she waved back at him immediately before closing the door.

Once the door was closed, she squealed; "Yaaaa! He's so cute."

The guy got her name, but she was too nervous to ask of his. She just wondered when she could ever meet him again.

---

Meanwhile, on the 7th floor..

"Yo, Robin!" a guy came to speak with another boyish person.

"Hey, Spence!" the boyish person responded.

"Yo. How are you today?" Spence asked.

"I'm great, and you?" Robin replied.

"I'm cool. What's up? It's been a while since you last came here. You missed me?"

"Yeah. That's why I came, man." Robin said.

"That's sweet. If only you dressed up and acted like a girl, I'd probably fall for you." Spence jested with a smile.

"Are you joking, man? I'm not into you, Spence. You know what I mean?"

"Yeah. You're a handsome girl, anyway." he chuckled.

"Well, thanks for saying that. I've met someone today." Robin said.

"Someone? Boy or girl?" he asked playfully.

"A girl. Much more beautiful than you." Robin said sarcastically.

"Alright. What's her name?"

"Melon.. was it..?" Robin looked puzzled as she was trying to remember.

"Hahaha. Melon? That's cute and girly."

"Yeah. She was."

"Aren't you going to meet her again?"

"Maybe. If we're meant to meet again, some other time." she shrugged her shoulders.

"I see. Goodluck with that. I'm rooting for you. I'm your friend, ok?"

"Yeah. Thanks, Spence."

"You came here just to see me at my workplace, didn't you?"

"Yeah. You think I'd apply for a job here or what?" she spoke ironically.

"That's gonna be epic if you do. But you're a swag kid, I don't think you're gonna take that chance."

"True. You know me well, Spence. This 50 storeys tall building is no match for me. I'll be bigger than that."

"Oh, how could it be, Miss Robin?"

"Shut up. Stop joking, will you?"

"Haha. Alright. You're a woman of your own."

"Don't say I'm a girl. Especially to that girl."

"Girl? You mean, Melon?"

Robin nodded.

"Ok. I'll zip my mouth on that. Just be yourself, be confident and chase her."

"Hmm.. I hope I could.."

Just as Spence saw Robin's dismal attitude, he immediately said; "Hey. You're ok. You're totally perfect and awesome. Don't worry about what other people think of you. Just be yourself, ok Robin?"

"Ok. Thanks, really."

They talked for a while in Spence's office room, as it was Spence's break time. They had a good and fun conversation, as usual.

After some while, Robin went out of her friend's office and walked straight to the lift. She had a wishy-washy thought of probabilities. She even hoped a little, that if she opened the lift door, she would see Melon again. Unfortunately, the Melon girl didn't show up. She felt a bit frustrated, but she couldn't help herself.

She became rather moody because of her own true self. She had never felt that good and secure, like other people did. Sometimes, she wanted to scream out loud alone in the dark. Sometimes, she just wanted to disappear. She even asked herself of why she had not been born as a guy. She had so many woeful and melancholy experience in her life. Her parents had been irresponsible enough to dump her when she was a baby. Life had been so tough and bitter for her.

However, she was able to stand and prove herself to some people she believed and called as friends. She was somehow growing, becoming unbreakable, as in getting stronger and stronger. She worked as a motivator on websites and some group meetings. She changed a lot from who she had been before.

Melon. I hope I could meet you again some other time. Would someone finally open her heart for me without being ashamed and discouraged about her true self.. like me?" Robin pondered in her mind. Her expression was mysterious and deep.
