Ela carelessly her car through the thick mist with tears clouding her eyes. Her cell phone rang continously from her backpack in the backseat. “Oh shut up! Shut up!” she yelled through her tears, her mascara melt all around her eyes giving her a howling zombie. Getting annoyed she turned back holding the steering wheel with one hand to grab her from the back seat with the other.
Taking a deep breath she received the call but kept quiet. The moment the call went through the person on the other side sighed and then with a panicked voice he yelled “where the hell are you Ela…turn on your location now!”
“I don’t want to…just leave me alone Garret... I just need some time off ok? I’ll be fine” before the other person could respond Ela hung up and threw the phone on the front seat. The cell phone bounced off the window beside her and landed near her feet.
Ela groaned and ignored at first abut she was worried the phone near her feet would slip below the brakes and cause an accident.
She bit her lips cussing under her breath and
proceeded to crouch down to retrieve her phone. Keeping her right hand on the steering wheel she managed to grab her phone and briefly checked for any visible damage.
She had just taken her eyes off her phone to look towards the empty road ahead she bumped into something beside her door that seemed to have rolled down and landed on the side of the road with a painful groan.
Ela screeched her car into a halt with a squeal shaking miserable she mumbled to herself “what was that? Oh my god what did I do...” With shaky hands she unlocked her door and climbed out slowly. Her bones felt like jelly she was close to fainting.
She inspected the damaged to her car, except for a broken rearview mirror and a small dent on her door the damage was not that serious .
This gave a little assurance as Ela hope that whatever she hit was not that badly injured. “Please don’t be dead...please don’t be dead” prayed Ela looking up at the crescent moon and dragged her feet towards the side of the road even though every part of her cell was screaming at her to run.
Her vision was too clear to cause confusion as the thing that lay on the grass face down was a tall man. Trying hard to swallow the lump on her throat she moved close to the man who appeared to have been bleeding a little bit from his forehead.
Ela’s feet gave away as she slumped on the ground breathing rapidly, “Thank goodness he is alive!” she breathed out. Ela could hear the man’s slow beating heart through her own frantic heartbeats.
She sat like there on the grass patiently hearing the man’s slow yet strong heartbeat until she was calm enough. The sky rumbled and within moments the cruel rain drenched the entire surrounding. Ela ran towards her car and fumbled around for her phone. The excited person on the other line immediately received the call on the first ring but before he could speak Ela's cold voice alarmed him “Ron I need help”
Without wasting another word Ron asked “Where are you?”
“I’ll tell you but please don’t tell anyone, not even Garret” begged Ela before giving her location.
“Calm down… I’ll be there in a moment, park your car away from the road and stay inside…” he hung up after hearing a reassuring answer from Ela.
Ela stood there for a while looking at the man bleeding on the side of the road getting drenched in the cold rain then turned away and climbed into her car. In less than thirty minutes Ron came running to the spot. Huffing and puffing he rushed towards Ela's car and gave a low growl when he found car empty.
“Shit! Where are you?” cussed Ron trying to sniff the air one more time but the rain was masking her scent too well, all he could smell was the forest. He took a deep breath to calm his raging heart and concentrated again, finally a strong metallic smell assaulted his nostrils.
He immediately followed the trail in a flash and located a shivering terror stricken Ela somewhat guarding the man with an umbrella. Turning her head towards Ron, Ela spoke weakly “He is alive…I don’t want him dead…Please Ron help me, don’t let him die”.
“.....It’s ok Ela he’s going to live… I promise” saying so Ron took off his jacket and put it on Ela. Ela kept staring at his face looking for another strong assurance but Ron avoided her eyes instead.
“Go sit in the car baby…” he pleaded brushing the wet hair away from her face and carried her into the car. He then returned to the man and scooped his tall frame over his shoulder and carried him to the car as well.
The man had bled quite a lot and was frozen cold which scared Ron to his core “don’t die Champ keep the heart beating… can’t have Ela traumatized for life” pleaded Ron to the unconscious man smeared in blood and mud.
By the time Ron walked back to the car Ela was fast asleep on the front seat. He secured the seatbelt around her and drove forward.
It took him one hour to reach the lake house. Throughout the entire ride he kept concentrating on the two heart beats apart from his own. He immediately got off the car and checked the man in his back seat whose body temperature seemed to have dropped even further.
“Shit!” Ron muttered closing the door he walked around the car and carefully picked up the sleeping Ela and got inside the house.
While he was gone within few minutes another car came by and parked near Ela’s car. The rain had stopped but the temperature was snowy cold. A broad shoulder tall framed grumpy guy stepped out of his car calmly. His hear was no where closer to calm, there was a raging storm instead. In an effort to control his wild outburst on tge way here he had grabbed his steering wheel so hard that his ten fingers got imprinted on it.
The white shirt that he wore was sticking to his abs like a second skin, magnificently showing off his taunt muscular frame. Clenching his jaw he walked towards Ela’s car breathing heavily and peeked into the back seat. He could feel his patience vanish as he ripped the front door off the hinge.
“How irresponsible…you dare...” viciously growled the man hearing Ron walk towards him.
“Listen Garret… I was going…” Ron stammered but before he could finish he was flung across the lawn onto the dried up water fountain crashing it completely. Garret dragged him up by his shoes “What exactly were you planning to do with a dying man in the middle of nowhere instead of calling our family doctor…you planning on going rogue?” asked Garret with a blood shot eyes.
Ron was shocked and scared with his friend's sudden outburst as he dragged his bruised body off the ground.“Calm down dude he is ok just a broken arm and a small cut he’s not in grave danger…” argued Ron wiping the blood off his mouth. “Who are you to decide that are you a doctor?” scoffed Garret as he scooped the bleeding stranger out of the backseat and walked inside the house and up the stairs in one breath.
“I was...” mumbled Ron clenching his teeth “Until you quit being one “finished Garret. “ Call Stevens immediately” instructed Garret on his way upstairs.
Garret carried the man in his arms as if he weighs nothing and tucked the stranger on a large king size bed under the quilt before going to fetch some more from the cupboard. He lit the fireplace a hurried off to arrange some hot water without even bothering to call for Ron knowing well he would be with Ela.
He didn’t mind Ron's closeness to his sister, what he minds is the fact that he listens to Ela’s every stupid ideas before using his god gifted brains.
‘His blind adoration for Ela magically burns all his genius brain cells’ thought Garret wiping the man’s head, the part that hit the rock before carefully putting clean bandages on it, then placed an ice pack over it. The bleeding seemed to have stopped but he was unsure about internal damage.
Staring at all the blood I his hands Garrets started feeling squeamish, gasping he staggered from the bed to open the window nearby and breath in the cold freezing air. Spots began to appear in front of his eyes and as he shut them close, the familiar nightmare flashed in front of his eyes. A little girl was lying in a pool of blood in front of Garret, his hand drenched in her warm blood and somewhere from far he could hear the sirens go off.
Under normal circumstances Garret would either faint or take off running but that day was different. Is not like blood scares him, but sometimes it just bring back bad memories and sometimes it doesn't. A weak groan dragged him out from his thoughts. The man’s lips were quivering and his face looked stressed, he seemed to be having a nightmare. Garret immediately closed the window reached the bedside and lightly touched his face.
The man leaned into his touch shivering slightly. He was running a high fever, without wasting another moment Garret tore off all his drenched cloths taking great care with his injured left shoulder and wrapped him warmly under the four layers of quilt. Looking at the mud smeared face he submerged ed his handkerchief in tge hot water and proceeded to clean the rest of his face to reveal the face of the alluring beauty.
His lips which were currently a light shade of pink were plum like a soft chewy berry; his face looked like it has been carved into perfection by the best sculptures of Heaven. He clearly resembled a handsome young man ‘Angel’ was the only adjective Garret could think of.
Garret was himself the most fascinating specimen of men in the town, the eyes candy for many hearts of all genders about which he was particularly aware and secretly proud of it. He sometimes took little liberty of his gifted feature in many ways but facing the sleeping beauty in his bed he feels a bit challenged, in a good way. Garret delicately pinched the man’s soft nose, the man unconsciously lean into his touch again.
Garret had the urge to climb under the quilt and embrace the tall muscular beauty in his arms and fight off the nightmare that was plaguing his unconscious mind.
Garret has never lusted over anything, he never had to. Since young age he was showered by money and love of all kind without even trying hard for it. Beautiful admirers willingly throw themselves at him extinguishing their lust for Garret and he being a happy man he is obviously never disappointed anybody’s active advances. He however never experienced the strong pull of lust for anything or anyone up until the point he met with his sleeping beauty on his bed.
Garret smiled softly looking at the beautiful man with adoration, then brushinf off his wet locks he frowned. Swiftly peaving the bed he began rummaging around the cupboard for a while when his cell phone chime abruptly disturbing the quiet night. Garret immediately jumped and looked over at the seeping man checking he woke up then quickly received the call.
“I am on my way will be there in five minutes… how is the patient?” asked Stevens impatiently. “He is stable …he’s still b...unconscious his shoulder is badly bruised” whispered Garret calmly. Stevens was quite for half a minute then with a quick“Ok” and hung up. Squatting down in front of the cupboard and whispering into his cell phone Garret felt a bit embarrassed after hanging up . ‘What the hell? Could have just stepped out of the room… how Silly of me’ thought Garret shaking his head.
Smiling like a schoolboy he went and sat on the bed and plugged in the hair drier then he carefully began blow-drying the man’s wet hair, tilting his head carefully side to side taking extra precaution for the head injury. His eyes became soft as he lightly touched over the bandage. " i am so sorry this love happened to you... i promise ill take your responsibility" Garret assured the stramger. After he was done drying his jet black haor he sat on the couch near the window and stared at the beauty in total bliss.
He closed his eyes and listened to the strong heartbeat of the man as if it's a lullaby. “The most peaceful song I ever heard” murmured Garret under his breath smiling like a love struck teenager. When the multiple knocks on the door resonated all around the room.
“You locked the door? Move let me see the poor soul” barged in Stevens shoving Garret aside along with Garret following behind. Stevens checked the man thoroughly under Garret’s murderous glare from the couch.
Garret was about to bombard him with buckets of questions, Stevens held up his hands before he could “The patients’ life is in no immediate danger but … his left shoulder is badly injured I assume few bones are fractured he needs to be hospitalized”
“No way if this gets out it’ll cause trouble…can’t we treat his injuries at home? We can order the equipments” said a Ron nervously between Stevens and Garret.
“That’ll take time what if the fracture is serioud? He may end up crippled...” said Stevens adjusting his specs.
Without wasting another breath Garret scooped up the man like a doll“Let’s take him to the nearest one first…”
Ron attempted to guard his way, Garret ignored completely, went down the stairs within seconds and unlocked his car.
“The police will get involved let’s call the lawyers first…” reasoned Ron running after him.
“No time for that…and for everyone’s information, I drove the car..You stay and take care of Ela” Said Garret from behind the wheel, the doctor went and stood in the front.
“Maybe I should drive, you can sit in the backseat with the man” suggested Stevens.
Garret simply nodded and sat in the backseat. He took the man’s head near his shoulder in his embrace and began rubbing his cold body. “Find out about this person asp...” instructed Garret.
In response Ron simply nodded and gave a big sigh. ‘I hope he is not some big shot…what if he’s the president’s son…bullshit! Why would he be walking in the middle of the road embracing the night’ mumbled Ron to himself.
He rushed upstairs to Garret’s room and picked on the man’s wet cloths lying around. “Damn…that’s some expensive limited edition shoes…nice fashion sense” spoke Garret nodding to himself and absentmindedly tossed it away.
The shoe dropped beside the fireplace with a thud making Ron’s eyes bulge out in shock “Shit!!” he cussed under his breath.
Back at the hospital the doctors were miserable as they were strictly monitored and bombarded with questions by Garret “How is he…the scan didn’t show anything serious so He won’t end up crippled right?”
The attending doctor forced a nervous smile and assured “No Mr. Park your friend will not suffer from any long term complication , he just needs to take good care of his arm for about two months and he’ll surely make a full recovery within half a year.”
“Six months full recovery? You said he is not in any serious condition” yelled Garret.
The terrified doctors gulped and calmly began to explain” Umm… you see Mr. Park your friend almost lost his arms due to delayed treatment and the weather is not helping much…we assure you he’ll recover just fine”.
“Wolf down a little bit…let the poor hardworking doctors take a break...geez ” sighed Stevens and almost immediately all the doctors bowed to him with immense thankfulness and ran away from the scary ‘beast's’ presence.
Garret immediately turned and focused all his concentration on the centre of his current attention. He sat close to the bed blankly staring at the unconscious face wondering how his eye would look like, how his voice would sound like.
“Ron called, he found the man’s identity” said Stevens prompting Garret to avert his eyes from the unnamed man.
“His name is Liam Wang, the CEO of Wang Multinationals…in other words...we are screwed” spoke a nervous Stevens but Garret only heard half of it.
“Liam Wang…I love…the sound of it” whispered Garret smiling wide at the man with affection.
Stevens could not believe what he was witnessing. He previously at the villa did think that Garret was showing too much care for the stranger but ignored it. Watching his friend of three years he could not help but doubt his sexually. He always viewed Garret as a hunky playboy notorious among the company of beautiful women, he never gave any Gay vibe, not even once.
‘One can never really predict human beings and their deep hidden desired no matter how long you know that person’ thought Stevens.
“What was he doing strolling down a deserted road so late at night in such a bad weather, what were you thinking?” Garret questioned the unconscious man.
“Should we inform his family? May be the cops?” asked Stevens scratching his ears.
“Not the cops...It might cause problems for his reputation call his family...How come no one is looking for him…?” asked Garret through his teeth.
“Hey don’t be all judgmental now you don’t know his situation…” reasoned Stevens.
“I want to” quietly confessed Garret.
Within an hour of filing the hospital paper with Liam’s real name three men in black suit followed by a petite woman in pink and blue approached Liam’s ward. Turnedp out his family was searching for him with full intensity.
“Hello I am Jill Anderson, Mrs. Wang’s personal Assistance we are very grateful for your help, if you don’t mind can we ask few question regarding the accident?” asked Jill with a charming smile.
“I Hit him with my car…it’s my fault… I’ll be escorting myself to the police station I’ll make sure everything is handled quietly…” declared Garret in single breath with a blank face.
The women’s smiley face immediately twusted in anger, she wanted to explode but was dumbfound by Garret’s casual response “What…you….We should be saying that...we’ll make sure you get what you deserve” growled a fuming Jill.
The three men in black motioned to step in front of Garret to apprehend him but something in his glare made them freeze in their track. Garret walked out of the room but not before managing to steal a glace of the peacefully sleeping man. Stevens followed behind.
An irritated Jill violently dialed a number then took a deep breath to compose her voice “Hello Madame…yes I talked to the doctors he is fine…the culprit was the one who admitted him to the hospital....yes I’ll send someone right now...sure”
After instructing the men in black she stood in front of Liam’s bed with tears and fire in her eyes “You’ll pay for it...whoever you are “ promised Jill looking at the door with determination.
